Said this in a reply but I want to just comment it. I feel it’s hard to get into dean because it’s impossible to know where to start. It’s difficult to find anything about his philosophy, his musical process, or really anything about his art in general. Even trying to count his albums and projects is a near impossible task with the amount of stuff he may or may not have worked on. Every single question you have about him leads to 10 more, and none of them will ever have a clear answer. Dean becomes a genius when you realize that thats the whole point. So many artists try to do the mysterious, impossible to put a finger on vibe, but it always falls flat. Even shit like death grips can be infinitely dissected and researched, and once that happens, the sort of aura around them kinda shatters. But with dean, he’s made it so impossible to know what he’s even trying to do, that I don’t think he’s ever gonna be figured out. He’s the only artist this generation that’s truly mysterious, and truly just makes art for himself. Prime example of an artist that comes around once in a century
Facts and i got into him by a song A$AP Rocky has called Money Bags. Showed it to my homeboy and he goes it sounds like Rocky sampled this babyfather song. Been hooked since brother
that list clip omg, it literally all tied together so well. I am not that deep into the dean blunt lore or discography (i only have babyfather's bbf in my library) but this made me really want to explore because i loved his presence in the boiler room panel and also love all his speeches. This might make me a dean blunt fan.
