I am the originator of footwork. I've told the story before. Footwork originated in my living room in Altgeld Gardens in 1991. The first time I did it publicly was at the Rink on 87th street a couple blocks off of Cottage Grove when I battled three members of houseomatics!
The Westside really can't take credit for starting foot work because remember majority of the projects was on the lowend and Englewood Community was home of house of Mattox but it's definitely a Chicago thing I give it up to both sides
