- I was asked to attend a vaping Q & A gathering recently and was asked many practical question from new vapers or vapers who wanted to upgrade from stock coils to RTA or RDA . So in in this video I will address 2 questions that I think are important to enable the vaper to achieve optimum flavour from every vape thus keeping him smoke free.
I hope it is helpful.
Foot note: when cleaning the coil I specified the date I installed a new coil but only mentioned the date of the recording as 21st but forgot to mention February. The coil lasted after the recording for another day!! so even with the best care, a good quality coil will last 4- 6 weeks on average.
If you are a new vaper and have a question in all vaping related issues, please leave them in the comments below and I will answer them as best as I can in a upcoming Q & A videos that I will upload in the coming weeks, or if you prefer you can always email me direct on

If you don’t want your name or RUclips name to be mentioned please specify that in your email.
You've literally become my number 1 for anything vaping just because you cater to the practical side of things. Thank you.
Thank you Sheharyar.
Just quit smoking just over 24 hours ago after 13 years of smoking, and I've gotta say this video is pretty helpful. Thank you so much!
Pleasure bruh and well done. In time you will notice major health improvements and eventually you will enjoy the vaping & the craving for smoking will (nearly) completely disappear but you need to decide and to be determent that vaping is your new nicotine delivery method. Good luck
Thank you! 24 years of smoking, I'm vaping now, 1 stick a day for a week now. Planning to quit and invest on RDAs. Very helpful video! Thanks again!
@J-boy Abanes Well done👍 Enjoy your vape
2 years old video but still very helpful. Kudos!
Glad it helped DJ
Your videos have taught me so much about not only naturally extracted tobacco varieties, but also about the technicalities of rebuildables.
For the past week I've been putting on your videos on the way back from work and at home and the information has been so easy to digest.
Thanks Erdem I am happy they are helpful
Just bought my first Rta a few days ago but it’s still in the box coz I wasn’t sure about cleaning the coil and re-wicking but I was struggling to find what I was looking for but this video is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks 👍🏻
@s defuite glad it was helpful & enjoy your first RTA😊
@@netvaper not enjoying it so far 😂 I bought the fat rabbit by hellvape but no matter how I wick the coil or dual coils it always leaks 🙄 like anything I suppose it’s just trial and error and I’ll eventually get the hang of it.
@@sdefuite5477 yes you will it just takes a few attempts eventually you would find the right way to wick and then just stick to it
@@sdefuite5477 lmao exact same issue I either use to much cotton and get dry hits or too little and leak
Great tutorial. I've been vaping MTL & DTL stock coils for 8+ years. I've thought about rebuildables for a while, and now, I am going to give it a go. Top banana!
@Paul J. Morris-Pinchefsky. Thanks. let me know how you get on
@@netvaper I will, thanks. I've just been watching some of your MTL RTA reviews and they are all excellent. I might go for Steam Crave's Aromamizer Classic as my first purchase. Great work.
@@projectmerlin the Classic by steam crave is one of my favourites
@@netvaper Hi, reporting back... Yippee! I have just coiled and wicked my first ever RTA, and on the Neeko. First impressions; superb flavour! Air flow isn't too bad. I went with the 1.5mm below the coil instead of the 1.2, and 2.0mm at top. I might try the 1.2 in place of the 1.5. Air flow is pretty good, but not quite on the spot. I've also just noticed a bit of popping going on, with slight gurgling as well. I think perhaps my wick is too thick or dense? The tails are reaching the deck. I'm trial running on the Eleaf iStick Power 2C in Smart Mode. I've done my maths too - 0.95 ohms set at 15 watts. I also have a couple of Digiflavor Siren Gs, and I'm using one of the skinny drip tips in the Neeko - looks and feels great. I often use these tips on a variety of my MTLs. Anyway, I shall practise more. Thanks again. Great tutorial. I think the gurgling is getting worse. I'll have to investigate. Cheers.
@@projectmerlin Thanks for your update. Tip, always use a tighter airflow insert under the coil and either use a bigger / same airflow on the top or non at all, the airflow will be much smoother . Pupping & crackling is usually from the fused coil. Gurgling happens when the cotton is over saturated, make sure your cotton ends fill the full width of the juice channels touching the deck where the liquid will be absorbed by the cotton. If you turn the RTA upside down, cover the mouthpiece with a tissue & suck a few times as hard as you can without firing. Magic, any gurgling will disappear. Enjoy the Neeko it is an excellent MTL.
For a second, I thought you were that actor from that movie "The Profesional"🤣 Great video👍👍👍
😊 thanks Bori
The nothing quiet like a freshly wicked kayfun prime for vaping enjoyment, Excellent video NET Vaper.
Yap Crispy agreed.
Thank you. Tutorials and how to`s are I think something that we nearly ALL find very helpful. I am a year into my re build able vaping and am only really scratching the surface when it comes to knowledge of how to PROPERLY do a lot of things, especially when it comes to coils and wicks. The more tips and tricks the better. EXCELLENT! One thing I have never had to do but I know one day will probably have to try is re wrap a battery. Have you any experience with this? If so I think would make a good tutorial, especially as battery safety is so important.
Thanks Aubery. I received lots of questions via my email some interesting and some basic but important for new vapers I hope to upload a few Q&A videos in the coming weeks I hope it will be helpful. As for battery wrapping I prefer to buy new one rather then messing around with wrapping them.
very good tutorial thank you! Waiting on my juice cabin order. I love their hybrid NETs. Gives you the best of both worlds in my opinion
@SNOBYMILLS. Thank you enjoy
Great Video, I ordered a rebuildable and it should be in tomorrow. I'm just sick of gambling with these throw away coils. I've been using the same brand of coils for nearly a year now and I vape quite often because I used to smoke a pack a day. Well lately the coils I've been getting which have been some of the best coils I've used, have been suffering from quality control. The last 3 coils I put in out of the last 5 pack box I bought were all defective. Their like $20 for a box of 5 of them and 3 of the 5 were defective, straight out the box they were hitting with no flavor at all....not even a hint of flavor and were tasting burnt as hell within hours of using them. After this last box having so many I decided never to deal with that crap again. I'm really hoping this works out for me.
Thanks John. I am sure as soon as you get the basic knowledge how to put your coil and wick you would be happy with better flavour and financially much better off with rebuildables. I was asked a few times to record a tutorial how to build the first RTA and what tools you need so I might speed it up for vapers like your self who want to upgrade.
Thanx for that I actually went ahead and tried re wicking and it work 😀
Excellent Steve.
Great video! Awesome! Thanks to share all your experiences
Thank you Herinque.
Thanks for the useful advice. Could you suggest a guideline for rewicking as to the number of puffs? I rewick the cotton every 1000 puffs and clean the coil with your method beforehand. And then change the coil every 5000 puffs. Are these numbers reasonable?
I never counted my puffs😊 I tend to change my cotton every 2-3ml of NETs. Not sure about any other type of liquids as I only vape tobacco
Thanks for the information on how to manage RTA. I've just got my first RTA, Kayfun a lie, and have felt unsure if you would change coils every time the taste got worse. I myself use e.pipa and have always used pree-made coils. Tomorrow I'm going to build my first coils, exciting. Thanks
Good luck last0048.
@@netvaper I failed completely. All of it is too small so I can't see anything. I tried to use Geek vape mini tool kit. I think I have look after som pree vired coils or try it again later.Tha coils I try to use is Kanthal 28ga and that is a very thin one.
Take it slowly step by step. Get for starters Pre- made 1.0 ohm MTL coil. Fit the coil and secure then cut the legs flush then dry fire to eliminate hot spot then insert the cotton not too think that you can’t get it it through the coil then trim to fit in the juice well’s then moisten the cotton. Screw the deck in the tank fill and vape. Step by step you only need to do it once right and you will be able to do it right thereafter.
NET Vaper thank you very much. I will try to get some tomorrow 👍😇
I have a drag s with mtl pod and was thinking to switch to a mod/tank device with stock coils but after this video I think I should go straight to RTA. Just skip a step. Doesn't seem that hard. Thanks!
Good idea Vadad you would never look back😊 just choose your first RTA wisely
@@netvaper I have the choice of the bishop, augvape intake, hellvape vertex, hellvape MD or innokin ares 2. That's the choices I have in my local vapeshop. What would you advise from all these? I saw your review on the bishop and I guess that's the favourite from all mentioned.

@@netvaper thank you so much! ❤️
Great content as always, very clear much respect sir

Hello. What e cigs you can suggest as nice easy for use, also what is stock coils, and is it that all e cigs you can upgrade with rta or rda coils. I bought argus voopoo and all coils i used just simply sucks, also gets bad on taste,so just looking for proper cigs with proper coils. Also i can see you use thin head top ,thats what i am looking aswell. :)
Stock coil is a coil that comes with a tank that you can replace after it is gone with another coil. RTA’s use a rebuildable coil that you need to install on the deck and add cotton. A completely different style. Pod kits are different to stock coil, that the coil cannot be replaced so you need to change the whole pod. As I understand you use pod mod kits like the voopoo May I suggest to try the Innokin Gozee kit. Very good quality starter kit with excellent flavour & MTL drew, that you can use many different coils and change when needed.
Thank you for your video, Sir! Much helped me!
Thanks Ars V.
Very helpfull video! It would be nice to know at what wattage you heat up the coil, before dipping it into the water and also how many times you repeat this dipping process before you finally get rid of it and put a new one. Thnx !
Thanks. I dry fire at 14w just to get a glow that burns the gunk, the dripping in water takes it all off so when fired again your coil is clean as new. I do that very often up six 6 weeks and sometimes more. You can tell when the coil is gone it looks brittle and black even after cleaning.
Have you considered buying a Dicodes mod at all? They're expensive at over £200 but I decided to get the Dani mini and much like the Prime, you get what you pay for. Such a beautifully constructed mod I think you would appreciate them
Yes Ross I was thinking pairing it with the Kayfun for some time now, it is gorgeous & compact as well. will see...maybe the Stabilised wood Edition V3 will need to hint to my wife for next anniversary (:
I use a dicodes dani box mini with a kayfun prime and recently a kayfun lite. Absolutely outstanding quality and beauty!
@@netvaper yeah I'd go with the Dani mini. I'm looking at getting the small Dani Extreme tube mod aswell. I bought the cheap Ehpro 101 tube mod to try out and really enjoying the form factor
@@AubreyStJohn3000 I use mine with the Prime aswell. They look great together
Excellent info. Thanks
Thanks Mohammad
Would you say that Nets taste better on a RTA RDA etc compared to a stock coil? For example the Aspire Nautilus...Innokin Zenith or Zlide Tanks? 🤔
Absolutely but on a MTL RTA not DTL RDA. As NETs have natural flavours from the tobacco leaf that is best on low wattage max 18watts. High wattage would ruin those delicate favours & natural sugars extracted from the tobacco leaf. May I add that nowadays the Innokin Duo Prime mesh coils are very good also with NETs but would gunk up fast (2-3 days max)but on a RTAs you only need to change the cotton not the coil. The coil if cleaned regularly would last 4-6 weeks easily
Thanks for the quick reply...certainly going to give the RTAs a go and order the Innokin Ares 2 which was also commended by you (:>) @@netvaper
Thank you!
@Beat89. 🙏
try packing the cotton a little tighter in the MTL tank specially if u notice the liquid darken fast.
ran into a similar issue with the VXV soulmate rta pod where even clear eliquid went dark fast and the coil gunked up super fast. the issue has been fixed by raising my coil up a tad higher and wicking it tighter, i had clear liquid turning dark in 24 hours cuz of gunky eliquid backflowing into the tank. i also lowered the wattage by 5 but that was cuz i was worried the wicking wouldnt keep up, look up the wicking experiments morten oen did on youtube about how tight should u wick a coil.
the reason stock coilheads last as long as they do is the cotton pad is inserted tightly without damaging the fibers and is also getting pressed against the housing by the vertical "chimney style" coil.
@Azra Sashima. Thanks for your detailed & informative comment
Hello mr.Net vaper!!!!!one more good video from you !!!Thank you!!!!one question....6 weeks with net liquids with daily use???or you rotate your atmomizers????
If I understood your question correctly. I have a few RTA’s and different net’s so I rotate every other day to a different rta & different tobacco liquid.
NET Vaper very good system!!!I will follow the same way!!!!I suppose you have for example one rta for Virginia’s,other for Latakia etc..?????
Yes exactly. But you don’t need to have many RTA’s as you can re-wick the same tank for different tobacco that is one of the advantages of a re-buildable
How often do you change your coils for NET's when vaping daily? I'm using a 0.8ohm with 2.5ID fused clapton on kayfun x and I find the flavour now bit stale and I rewick daily. is it normal? should I change the coil? The coil is 2 month old and I use Burley Black Note
Wicking daily with authentic NETs is very normal. NETs only drawback is the rapid gunking. Black Note do gunk up coils. For me it is well worth the chore for optimal flavour. As for the coil itself if cleaned regularly it should last over 2 months. I change mine every 6 -8weeks regardless.
@@netvaper Appreciate the reply. I can confirm the coil have gone bad because I just realized on my dani box when I fire the ohm jumps to almost 1.2 and then settle back to 0.8 even though the post screws where screwed tight. After changing the coil everything is perfect now and the flavour taste excellent as it should. Yes NETs gunk the coils super fast the coil always have thick black layer from 1 day usage. I think I will invest on kanthal round wire because 8 pounds for a pair of fused claptons is bit expensive and I have 2 other mtl tanks their coils might kick the bucket soon.
Hello!
Among these three, which would be the best for MTL: Cotton Bacon Prime, version 2, or Kendo Gold Edition?
Hi Teakei. Nowadays, I use Japanese Muji organic pads, the Bacon Prime is very good as well. I prefer the Muji as it is so much cheaper and delivers unnoticeable difference in quality.
@@netvaper Thank you infinitely for your response and all of your very informative tutorials!
Very very useful video, for me at least:)
Due to you a have became a big big fan of NET's and ,unfortunately, I have noticed very quickly that my stock coils killed the flavour after only 1-2 days max. So now, when I expect my first and only Kayfun Lite to arrive from Germany I have one question please:
How exactly (and if no, ruffly) may I build an 1.0 ohm coil with 0,32 Kanthal wire?
I mean no. wraps for an 2.5 mm coil.
Thank you very much in advance.
Thanks Andrei and welcome to the wonderful world of net’s but not very friendly to stock coils. The Kayfun lite is a perfect RTA for net’s as you can change your wick every few days so you keep flavour optimal. As for the coils I buy them Pre-made so I checked the 1.0 ohm coil 2.5mm I use it has 6 wraps.
Thank you very much, NET Vaper! That is how I am used to do it. I'm new to RTA (MTL as well in my case), but clean my coil and change cotton every day :) It takes me about 20 minutes, but I make it slow and enjoy the process. By the way, since you are deep into MTL, could you advise how to put cotton (I use Cotton Bacon Prime) correctly for "Neeko RTA" (the only one I have nowadays) into the juice wells in case of 50/50 and High VG juices (30/70, 25/75). By the way, what RTA would you recommend for MTL '22/23 diameter? Big thanks in advance and have a nice day there!
Thanks Anton. The Neeko is a solid RTA & you can watch my review how to wick it right ruclips.net/video/fBU6EplLpVs/видео.html As for 22/23mm MTL check out my MTL RTA playlist and choose what seems to be most suitable to your liking
@@netvaper Thank you very much for the prompt and detailed answer!
coils are expensive af especially for sub ohms.
I basically rebuild my sub ohm tanks like RTAs lol. It's tricky sometimes but totally doable
Well done for you😊
I just ordered a Vandy vape Beserker V2 RDA and a Beserker mini V2 RTA. I wonder what type of cotton do you order? I googled Muji cotton but it comes I different shapes and textures, how do I know which one if good for vaping ? Also which premade coils do you recommend for my tanks, if you could recommend 2 types(not brands but ohms, thicknesses etc) I live in Sweden so I probably won't be able to find UK specific brands here. 👍
The easiest way Bernard is to check my best 2020 video there in the description I listed the cotton I use that you can copy & paste in google and so I did with the coils I use.
@@netvaper Awesome, thank you 👍🤙
Hey mate great review just wondering is there any big difference in flavour between stock and rta?
It depends Tom if you are a sub-ohm DTL vaper, these days with excellent lower ohm DTL mesh coils there isn’t enough of a difference in flavour to change your preferred method of vaping, but if you are a MTL vaper, MTL RTA’s certainly give better flavour especially with good quality RTA’s & coils but it is bit more involved especially when it comes in setting up the deck with the right amount of cotton etc. I do recommend to try it for 2 reasons. First it is much cheaper in the long run as the main profit for any manufacture is on the coils. Second by a few simple techniques as you’re just watched in this review you always keep the flavour at it’s best by cleaning the coil and changing the cotton every few days depending what liquid you use. I am happy to guide you if you want to give it a go.
@@netvaper thanks for the reply and yes I'm MTL vaper using black note juices so which coil should i get and which cotton? Also i was thinking on building coils so can you tell me which wire, inner diameter, number of wraps. Cheers
I recorded a video how do i make my own Kanthal coils link here, ruclips.net/video/F1Jeo-uuBgU/видео.html in regards of cotton i use here is another link, ruclips.net/video/4eSmlK04RB8/видео.html Of course you can buy excellent MTL 2.5mm coils from naturevape website in the UK go for the Core Clapton or Fused Clapton so you can see the difference in flavour after using the Kanthal. Finally watch this video on what each wire type is all about, link here ruclips.net/video/J8XMbU_nmS0/видео.html So now you have plenty info to get you started.
@@netvaper thanks for the reply appreciate it.
Hello, i would like to know how long do u wait after u put the nic-shots in the bottle, before you vape it. Especially with the 100% NET liquids. Thanks!
Well noozelmans, I add nicotine shake well and vape that is my method with all liquids including NET's. Steeping is only for the flavours not for nicotine just make sure to shake the bottle well before vaping.
Thanks for the great vid, I’ve been vaping a few months now and I just started using an RTA, I was wondering what are the signs that the coil itself should be replaced? Also is a 2.5mm coil the ideal size or can a 3mm be good ? I ask because it’s always difficult for me to insert the cotton, and I expect a 3mm to be easier, but I couldn’t find 3mm size for mtl, so seems 3mm isn’t for mtl? idk
Thanks Yousif the obvious sign is when the juice starts to turn dark faster even after changing the cotton also the flavour does not improve after wicking. As a rule 3mm coil is meant for DTL RTA or RDA on higher wattage and more airflow. 2.5mm is for MTL as the deck is smaller and mtl airflow.
@@netvaper 2,5mm is not only for mtl. The blotto is a dl and its better with 2,5mm. Not for me but many people do it. But i understand why you say 2,5mm is better for mtl.
thanks

Can you provide a link to the muji cotton pads you buy on Amazon?
@G-low I can’t leave links but if you copy & paste

In Amazon they sell the same product for £9 something copy & paste the following, MUJI Makeup Facial Soft Cut Cotton Unbleached 60x50 mm 140pcs (it is really 180 pcs) Another very good one on Amazon is, Cotton Labo Organic Japanese muji pads Cotton Puff Size M (200Pc) which is cheaper but very good quality. Isn’t it super dangerous to dip your coil in water while it’s still on your mod let alone a mod that’s on?
Not at all Shaun as you don’t keep the coil fired when you dipping in the water also you don’t immerse the deck and certainly not the top of you mod in water only the the tip of the coil, It is the best & safest method to clean & prolong life of your coils that I carry out every 2 days without any issues. I use the coil with the above method for up to 2 months.
In this video you said, you will answer questions. So I realy have a question, what is importent for me for a good conversation. What is your first name, than I can start my conversation to you with ,, Hallo ....'' or ,, Dear...''
I think, that will level up the conversation.
To this video, I spend some daytime now to play with the Fev I got two days ago. I agree to you, to take a look some times on the wick. I vape only Red Astaire and I feel evry difference, cause I vape nothting else. So I feel of course also difference by the wick. I'm not sure for seeing ghosts, but I'am sure for feeling difference by other drip tips in case of flavour, specialy on the Fev between the original drip tip and others. What is your opinion about that. Do I see ghosts ?
Best regards
One thing at last, on the gtr Taifun I have, the Impression, that he taste better, if the cotton some longer inside the wick with Red Astaire, specialy of course. I had the GTR some days by side, uncleaned, to taste other stuff. By useing later I used the GTR this way I dropt, then I checked the wick and changed the cotton cause the ,,mud" in the wick. The result was wronger then before...or I saw ghosts, maby...
My name is Nathan. Now Jens the right way of wicking the FEV is short wick not long hanging down towards the deck ( i change to this method) as you can get flooding when hanging down, so keep the cotton ends short as the juice flow hits the top of the cotton ends and do not drip to the deck. As for drip tip, yes for MTL you want a narrow bore that will intensify the flavour. As for ghost thank god I don't see them😊 BTW the mud on the wick is a sure sign of gunk and that ruins the flavour big time so change your cotton often.
sempre ouvi dizer que nao se deve acender a coil ate ela ficar vermelha , e muito menos mergulhar em agua
@Paulo Funaro. it is easier if you write your comment in English to save me time to translate.
