- The five former Memphis police officers charged in the death of Tyre Nichols have pleaded not guilty to his murder. They appeared in court for their arraignment this morning. CBS News correspondent Elise Preston has more from Memphis.

I cannot imagine that these men can stand on the world stage and call themselves “not guilty”. There was nothing professional in their action that should be aligned with any police manual.

My heart hurts for her. No parent should ever have to bury their child no matter how old they are. And the fact that the last images that the parents can see is your son all over social media getting beat up like a punching bag. It's not right. I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! And the sad part is whatever they get, is way more mercy than they showed to her son. Sad!

I wonder are they going to look into the alligations of one of the officers having prior disputes with Tyre over a the cop's ex. It's all over social media, Tyre was allegedly dating one of the officer's baby mother and the two men were beefing prior to this incident. But whatever the cause, Tyre didn't have to die in such a heinous way.

Exactly that's his job I don't know why anybody is surprised that they are pleading not guilty. But they are guilty. And I believe they will be found guilty. But you have to follow the instructions of your lawyer.

For what these five officers did to Tyre made them have no heart, care, conscious for "human life or a human being. I will never understand how someone would do this in addition stand on the sidelines and let this happen. It's a very interesting hypothesis. Is just refused the obvious.
In America you are presumed innocent in the eyes of the law until proven guilty in a court of law. This could be posturing to plea bargain with the charges. I do believe the preponderance of evidence is over whelming to convict. If convicted, they will be sentenced by a judge in a court of law in accordance to Tennessee criminal codes. That is called due process.

Anybody in that situation would do the same thing. You're going to be really frustrated when they take a plea deal. Because there's no way they're going to get the death penalty. Thousands of people have done worse than this and they have plead not guilty. You have to do what your lawyer tells you to do. Even though he knows you're probably guilty.
