    Great video Dr. Sandy, I am using a Hip Circle for my glute/bridge, clamshells, and step outs. I've been using big long elastics to do leg extensions and also shoulder rotator aductions and abductions (not sure if that is exactly the right descriptions) I am a big fan of elastic bands for my PT work and have been doing them every day. I'm trying to think about these exercises like brushing my teeth. They are my maintenence that allows me to be strong enough to do the "fun" workouts like running, cycling, rollerskating, kayaking, backpacking!

      Definitely, maintenance exercises are the name of the (active lifestyle) game! Love that you've found routines to make them a part of your day. And also, yeah, you can never have too much variety when it comes to resistance bands : )

    How do you measure to see what size band is best for leg and thigh exercises?

    • @Riverstonechiropractic
      @Riverstonechiropractic  3 года назад

      except for the branded "hip circle" which i believe offers medium or large, most generic brands aren't typically sized by leg measurements. You pick light, medium, or heavy. The only thing that changes is if you are larger, you have less room for your quads within the band, if you are smaller, you have to press out slightly more to start feeling resistance.

      Thank you. One of the sellers on amazon provided a method to measure for size and provided different sizes. It was the first one I looked up.

    Which ones are better for man that want to build muscle? Not the small ones, the long ones

    • @Riverstonechiropractic
      @Riverstonechiropractic  3 года назад +2

      For anyone wanting to build muscle, you could use a small or large one, just depends on how you use it. For the long bands, they are mostly all made of the same material and come in standard lengths, so just pick the ones that have the best reviews at the moment.

    Do your recommend the long fabric bands for pull-ups? My rubber just broke and in the market for a new band .

    • @Riverstonechiropractic
      @Riverstonechiropractic  3 года назад +1

      Hi, I would stick with the long rubber bands for pull-ups. Search "pull-up assistance bands" wherever you online shop and that should get you started.

    • @priscillabahaw5673

      @@Riverstonechiropractic ok thank you. Don’t mean to be a bother but could you tell me why you recommend the latex long bands for pull-ups versus the the fabric. I came across your video because I bought a good quality one for my size and weight and it snapped. So that’s when I decided to search and found out that fabric bands existed. While I do understand the differences you explained for glute exercises , i really would like to know why latex versus fabric for pull-ups. I can’t seem to find any solid advice on this anywhere .thanks Doc.

    They have always made fabric/mixed bands. This video is misinformed I find it hard to trust that a proper amount of research went into this before making that video in September 2020. One of the major differences in the range of movement between the two, fabric/mixed less range of motion so can only activate major muscles; rubber ones have a greater range of motion as they also target small muscles and big muscles. (p.s I'm talking about in general and also about the loops)

      Thanks for your input. Fabric bands have definitely become more common/mainstream in the past few years : )
