    Kits to me just lack creativity and charm that stuff packs exude. And the frequency at which they are released adds up financially. I’d rather spend 10 dollars on something good than 5 dollars on something like kits.

    I haven’t wanted to buy a single kit, so… if they’re trying to replace SPs with kits they aren’t doing a very good job of making them look appealing.

  • @kymellin
    @kymellin 3 года назад +37

    No, we're getting 1 more Stuff Pack. If you look at the codes for the packs, Paranormal was SP18. The 1st Kit continued the SP series, but at SP20. There's still 1 more Stuff Pack, SP19, to go before they turn the series into just Kits. No idea what SP19 might be, or when, but they are very good at planning their releases (however chaotic it appears to the rest of us). Stuff packs are coming to an end, but not quit yet.

    • @TONZAMUSIC

      No, we are getting more than 1 SP. Who the hell said SP19 is the last one anyway?!?

    • @kymellin
      @kymellin 3 года назад +4

      @@TONZAMUSIC If we get more than one more Stuff Pack, the numbering will mix with the Kits. The Sims team will either have to change the designation of all the Kits released so far, or mix Stuff Packs and Kits in the SP series, both of which are very unlikely. They very determinedly left 1 space open before numbering the Kits. We know they are working on Sims 5 from job listings from EA. We are now trying to figure out how much new content is planned for Sims 4. While we can't say definitely on anything, they left a big clue on Stuff Packs.

    I was watching the Iron Seagull video and was wondering the same thing. They told us before that we weren't going to get kits released like this. They were going to do one or two every few months. Now all of a sudden we are getting 4 within weeks of each other. What I suspect is that lock down made it difficult for them to get the game pack released on time so they are subbing it with these. If that's the case not much of a trade off if you ask me.

    • @enigmaoffc3148

      They actually said we wpuld be getting kits whenever we didn't have a exp/gp/sp schedule for that month. I was expecting that we would get one every month, but i guess they can release any amount they desire. I don't like that.

    I'm pretty sure these are all signs they kind of stop putting so much REAL content out for the sims. I don't think we're getting any new stuff pack, I think if there are gonna be similar stuff to paranormal they're gonna be game packs. The refresh also makes me think we're reaching the end of the sims 4 - like, we're going to put less content out and instead improve on the half-assed job we did prior so people know we're not gonna do the same mistakes in future games (hopefully). And honestly I'm excited for a new sims game... I feel like the sims 4 will never be good enough for people - I barely hear people being actually happy with what they're putting out, there's always something to be upset about and to critique, even when the pack/update/refresh IS, in fact, good. And that critique is also deserved a lot of the times, so I think at this point they're ust kind of stretching the game to buy time for another while still getting some more money. I'm gonna say it: the sims 4 must go

      The people who constantly yell about everything wrong with ts4 are a minority, but a very loud one. Yes, all the bugs in the game are frustrating and I don't like every single pack or kit they release, but I still love playing the game. There's definitely room for improvements, but I'm tired of all the negativity.

    Mmmm.... My take on it is more optimistic. With all the work they did lately to make it profitable it doesn't make sense they would stop halfway. I think they're changing direction, but like you just said if they're going to make quality over quantities then it make sense we have less things coming out. Because we definitely can't have both.
    However, we're used to have a lot of things coming out to keep us engaged in the game. So I think that's the purpose of kits, keep us engaged while they're working on other stuff ?
    Like you said it's easier to have kit done, like older stuff pack. I just think it's a transition period.

    I hate kits, more than I should, probably because I'm waiting for werewolves since vampires was released and got nothing yet, also feels like it's kits fault, might just be my hate filling up with TS4 Kits, but still, I blame them.

    I’d love to see a few more stuff and game packs. (Werewolves please!!!) They won’t be getting any of my money regarding the kits. Ever. CC is just too good, there’s so many talented people who make the same stuff for FREE, and I’d honestly rather throw them a couple bucks for the talent and effort than pay 5 bucks for stuff that probably should have already been in the game.

    So long, stuff packs lol. But I have to admit that the last 2 kits are great and couldn't have been done in a stuff pack. Because they're 2 different styles and I don't think EA would want to give us a "Around the World SP (although it would be cool). However I'm not a bootlicker I still prefer an SP with lots of useful things. And now when we get the announcement of" new packs" they're all kits :/ R.I.P SP

    A sim guru stated that they plan packs out years in advance, but i think that’s cap. Their moves seem sloppy and cash grabbing. EA wants to know how much they can charge for minimal effort. All of the kits combined don’t amount to one of the stuff packs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re wrapping up TS4 and moving on to something else

    The only kit I’ve bought is the Country Kitchen one and then they released Cottage Living not long after when I saw the kitchen items in that pack I was little upset because they are similar. I feel like maybe they were trying to tease the expansion pack with that kit which is kind of unfair.

  • @erinkay2254
    @erinkay2254 3 года назад +1

    I don’t think stuff packs will end for kits. I think kits are just EA getting content that got scrapped from other packs out for sale. The country kitchen kit coming out right before the Cottage Living pack came out with a new kitchen set solidified that for me. Like, they made more than one kitchen set and the one in the EP is the one they chose but realized they had extra content laying around they could be selling for money.

    I like Stuff Packs AND kits. However, I think that in addition to new kits, they need to be doing refreshes of some of the older packs like they did with Spa Day.
    I'm going to be so mad if they move on to Sims 5 anytime soon. I've spent so much money recently on packs and expansions because I love this game and I need time to get my money's worth before they move on to a new version of the game.

    Your video makes totally sense for me. I'm wondering about this too. My opion is the Sims 4 were supposed to come to an end about this year or maybe next year. I expected the Sims 5 to be announced this year and being published next year. But for some reason the Sims 5 are still not announced. For me this could be the reason for the lack of packs this year. Kits are easier to produce and don't take as much time as a pack. And they don't need a huge staff for programming. I wonder if the main Sims 4 staff allready works at Sims 5. For me kits were supposed to be the placeholder untill the release of Sims 5.
    I don't know if I'm right but maybe they have a big problem with Sims 5 not being released and not having packs for Sims 4 in work. I really hope the kits are not the new stuff packs and we are having new packs coming soon.

    Hi! Of couse they are grabbing as much money as they can from us, they work for money not really for our entertainment 😂 Speaking of kits and stuff packs, I ended up with your same conclusion, but onestly if this could mean that maybe game packs would be mooore rich, I'm okay with that. Kits for only "new stuff", and game packs for stuff, careers, aspirations, traits, maybe new worlds, as well as a tiny expansion pack. I think that they want to give a new specific face (and price) to contents, and maybe take more time to focus and work on future (and bigger) GP or EP while giving us bits of simple content as "kits". Still making money periodically with minimum effort (kits), effort to give to future GP and EP instead, or even game refreshes, as long as TheSims4 exists. This is my intricate opinion 😅

    The kits are so annoying. Like some of the stuff in them is good especially for representing some other cultures but I don’t wanna have to pay for representation. Also, other than maybe courtyard oasis, I have not seen a kit that couldn’t have been combined as an update to an existing pack. Throwback fit? That should be in fitness stuff. Country kitchen? Why on earth isn’t that in cottage living? Industrial loft? That really should go with city living. Fashion street is super cool Indian fashion and representation that should be in base game.
    Also I wouldn’t mind as much if it was cheaper. If kits were somewhere more like $1 to $2.50 I’d buy them. They are really worth $3 max. The only ones I think I’m probably going to cave and buy are courtyard oasis and fashion street just because I want more diversity and representation in my game.
    Also I have been waiting for them to go on sale cause I’m so determined not to pay full price but so far none of they have gone on sale! They really expect me to pay their ridiculous full price…

    I think the problem is that stuff packs started to become mini gamepacks while gamepacks were also mini expansions, in the previous games it was easy to tell apart expansions and stuff pack, now you have gameplay, cas and build items in all of them, and while I think that kits need to either have more stuff or lower their prices I rather have kits that are easily skipable like in previous games than having to buy all the games to have the full gameplay and have stuff packs become full gamepacks or just be included in expansions, but I don't think this means is the end of the sims 4 but a change in economics, stuff packs were too cheap for how good they were becoming (I mean that as EA point of view)

    I just started playing the Sims 4 during the pandemic last year when it was first released on Steam. I refuse to buy the stuff packs from before 2018 because I don’t feel like they are worth the price to get 3 or 4 things, and no gameplay. I also don’t really like the kits. None of them have really been catered to my personal style of playing besides the Country Kitchen Kit.
    I would really appreciate it if EA would continue refreshing the existing packs and updating the base game. Dine Out is still extremely buggy. I have issues with Seasons sometimes when it’s snowing or raining. There’s so much to be fixed and I feel like they are just releasing these little kits because they’re out of ideas for stuff packs. We’ve been begging them to fix babies, and make the overall game better and their response is “Here’s a new kit to buy, it’s only $5. Build an Industrial Loft”

    I love the sims 4.its sims 2 then 4.4 beats 3 just because I hated the way you couldn't move sims without losing all thier relationships.sims 4 has issues but if it had open neighborhoods it might be my fav...but it doesn't,so it isn't lmao

    I think that's because EA doesn't WANT us to get value for our money. That should be obvious, since they limit their developers (the devs have expressed their frustration at this - in a subtle way, because I think they were afraid to speak out too much) in what they're even allowed to put in an expansion, game pack, or stuff pack. When we saw the reveal on RoM, this was very apparent; the two devs that were showing that pack off, said there were other things they wanted to do, but weren't allowed to.
    It's quite obvious that once WE are getting value for our money, EA becomes discontent, and feels that THEY aren't getting enough money for our value.
    It's rather a cynical thing to have to say, but unfortunately, it's what EA's behaviour certainly points at.

    Kits are probably the result of the pandemic. If they are still working from home they can only do so much.
    For example complicated motion capture for animations is something that they probably can't do from home. Like the ones we see with spell casting or light saber fights. However making a very simple animation for Bust the Dust is doable.
    I don't think this will be the end of stuff packs or other kinds of packs, it's just the stupid pandemic.

    The fact that we've gotten so many kits tells you how successful the micro transactions are for EA. Mmmm tasty consumerism. Ewww icky content.

    It’s my understanding that kits are niche content release between the bigger packs that they offer. I’m totally cool with it. Don’t get why everyone is so prickly about it. 🤷🏽‍♀️

      Because we've barely had nothing in between the kits. We've had 9 kits this year compared to 1 expansion pack, 1 stuff pack and 1 game pack that's buggy and doesn't work (Home Decorator). All they talk about is kits but have announced nothing about any other packs and it's almost the end of the year. So that "in between packs" theory is CRAP.

    If Sims doesn't stop being all over the map and pull it together it's going to be the end of them 😓 They need to hire new guru's
