Honestly they both have the same chance of surviving the remaining life of the tire.

Rope plugs for life baby. Cheap, 99.9999% effective and reliable. Don’t have to dismount the tire, hell you don’t even have to Jack the car up!! Lol like someone else said, it’s a no brainer!

As a commuter I do over 100 miles a day every day and I’ve never had a plug give me the slightest issue

    • @TheEnthusiastMechanic

They both work I haven’t seen issues from the plugs, but more secure would be the plug patch

Sounds like you just wanna make that extra $$$ to get the tire off the rim.

@@bigpeezyweezyit’s not about that at all. It’s about the liability a shop takes when they “fix” a flat. If they plug it and blows out and kills someone, who are they gonna sue? That’s right the shop.
And no I don’t own or work at a shop.

@@mosely25, a road hazard can happen anywhere any time. Just because you "know the right people" in your podunk town doesn't mean anything if you are traveling, and learning "the right people" can take lots of trial and error.

Nice video. IF i was broke then the patch but always a new tyre as it's not my life i'm worried about but other people's on the roads whether it be other road users or a passenger in mine.

Patch Plugs are better. Plugs are easier but not always 100 percent. I would have to patch the plugs if it was leaking on occasion when i was working at Firestone. But it gets the job done

  • @JohnDoe-md2sb

5$ plug vs 65$ patch...no need to say more.
With plugs being so reliable, easily available and fairly inexpensive, unless your a mechanic with the available tools and time, it's a no-brainer.

    • @TheEnthusiastMechanic

I do more plugs than patches at the shop most people want quick and cheap.

    • @LightsaberGoBrrrrrr

If patches really cost $65 I might as well go ahead and buy a new tire. Crazy stuff

65???? You can get at Firestone or Pepboys for under 30. Free at Firestone if you buy their tires.

      @ryanwashere21 30$ with a patch/plug and balance?
Still, kinda expensive if you get multiple flats fixed in the life of a tire, not to mention your time.

As long as the tire is like new condition the Tire Rubber Plug will hold for 12,000 miles
