A movie has to be made of Leley's accomplishments is a must. From 16 yr. old white sinder working in the old Brill Buliding with Quincy Jones in 1961. What a story. And she's great, too.
Agree. There is a musical about Lesley's life in progress. The last information I heard was that the producer was looking for "backing" for the music. Lesley was working on her story when she passed away.
Thank-you once again, Kenn ! A classic by Lesley Gore, fall of '63, just seconds before 11/22 changed everything for my generation. We were never , ever, the same. ----------------------MJL, 76 y/o

My favorite Lesley Gore song! Your enhancement is absolutely amazing. I hear all sorts of things in the background that I have never, ever heard before! Thank you!
I've loved this song since I was a little kid. as I got older, learned to appreciate how Qunicy produced it, etc. such a great put together pop tune. Just love it

The first record I ever bought. I was thirteen and loved the background arrangement, the layers of voices with the insistent piano. Never did figure out what “Shakadula” meant though...
This is my favorite Leslie Gore hit. It was released in September 1963 when I was only 8 years old. I always marveled at the piano accompanist hoping he/she didn't get carpel-tunnel syndrome after the recording session. Marvelously produced by Quincy Jones and recorded on sizzling vacuum-tube equipment, it still sounds great 55 years later. Your "enhancements" make it even better. Thanks!
Bob; much of the credit for the great sound of her original recordings was Liberty Records contract studio's state-of-the-art equipment and recording technicians reaching the far limits of the day's analog systems. Liberty's recording were always a cut above most others for clarity, transparency, and depth.....ae; Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, & many more. By the way, "Look Of Love" is my personal fav. Cheers: "The Rockin' Professor" KPOP 99.9 AM Radio, Hollywood, Ca. 10PM-2AM weekends (1962-1969)
Thank you RockinProfessor for chiming in and for the great Hollywood recording history lesson! Very glad they held on to their high-end vacuum-tube equipment longer than any others did in that era. I loved the chorus-effect they gave to Leslie's vocals with flanging, making them super-thick and out in front. I did further study with your bestowed-knowledge and found out that that The Chipmunks [who recorded on Liberty], were named after the Liberty executives: Alvin Bennett, Simon Waronker and Theodore Keep! Let's not forget The Ventures, Sugarloaf & Bobby Vee who also recorded on Liberty. My stepson recorded at Sunset Sound Studios just 3 blocks away from where Liberty Studios were. Lots of recording history there on Sunset Bl! Thanks again sir!!!!
I 'm not sure if you are pulling my leg or not. I sometimes don't always get my facts straight with my ever-declining memory. However, I DO remember those great fun times 50 weeks a year in the booth on-air spinning 45's & LP selections, taking dedication & request phone calls, and having a guest Star often for live interview Q&A's while showcasing several of their hit songs. One memorable occasion was the evening Ms. Gore came upstairs to KPOP as an invite from management while on tour for her appearance at The "TAMI" Show in Santa Monica 1964. She was a delight and by the time she left her visit, I had a mild crush....I was a true fan and think it showed. I lasted there 'till the 60's were worn out along with me....I'll watch for your posts other times & places on You Tube. Cheers from The Rockin' Professor
Thanks for your wonderful followup RockinProfessor!! I am a Santa Monica resident and recently went to the Santa Monica Public Library and took out the "TAMI" Show DVD! Talk about a who's-who from 1964!!! WOW! It's great that you had the opportunity to interview her on your show while she was in town! Perhaps it's time you got back into broadcasting! We could use some class and culture on the airwaves right now! I can imagine what a wonderful & gracious person she was. I wish she didn't have to leave us so soon. Thanks again for sharing your great rock n' roll history RockinProfessor! [I just remastered "Try (Just a Little Bit Harder)" by Janis Joplin and will post it in a few minutes].
Thank you for chiming in Michael M! I have 2 full sets of Dynaco vacuum-tube equipment: [2-ST70 amps, 2FM Tuners & 2 PAS-3 preamps]. I've been using them since the early 80's. That stuff's already 56 years old! I wish I could find someone to revamp them in the Los Angeles area... Give me vacuum-tubes or nothing at all!
The first time I saw Leslie Gore lip syncing this song (on "American Bandstand?) on my parent's new round picture tube, vacuum tube powered RCA color tv; I was blown away by her green eyes.
My reference to 11/22 needed to include 1963. --------the song was huge in Denver, just prior to that day. --------I bought the 45, the week just before. --------------------What a time that was. -----------------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o

@@onyx_alagasia it has been my experience that most Lesbians were treated cruelly and abusively by some male who thought they were acting like a man. I will not give out names but I know of two women who were straight as an arrow but were abused and beaten by the their husband and fiancée. One woman’s brother tracked down her husband and beat HIM so badly he is in a wheelchair to this day (29 January 2022). The fool tried to sue but picked a female lawyer who made made damn sure she lost the case and the whole incident was exposed in the courtroom. The second woman was beaten nearly to a pulp with no one to go after her fiancée. She was too afraid to testify. After all of this are you surprised these two women are Lesbians?

Nice going Kenn. It's funny how i heard this song on a oldies channel back in Indiana in the 90's and i noticed one of the "SHACKADOLA'S" was turned way down then the next one it was back up again. (TURNED DOWN 0:57).
So was I. I joined her fan club, got an autographed post-card(whatever happened to that?).Had a big crush in her heyday and then when I was about 40 I found out she liked girls....go figure. Still loved her until the end, though!
Terrific conversation between Bob and the Professor...so much to learn. My first stereo was a vacuum tube Mackintosh...unfortunately it was stolen and nothing since then ever sounded as good!
Another great job Kenn.....If you have California Nights on your CD I would love to hear that one. Being just about the same age as me, you will remember that song was the one she did on her guest shot on the Batman T.V. series.
HEY I LOVE it ~ this was the first record I bought with my allowance when I was little - I always thought the mono single was kind of mixed strangely and this version is so totally cool, how did you get extra harmony voices mixed in there, even Lesley would love it - I wish I had this version on a CD for my car, I play many of her CD's while driving to work and some are mixed better than others but this one is great ~
The extra vocals I do myself. They have to be done very carefully so they sound like they belong there. Any video of mine can be downloaded using "RUclips VIDEO DOWN LOADER"There are other ways such as (2) Use a audio program that captures anything playing on your desktop whether from RUclips or downloaded to your desktop. I use MAGIX AUDIO CLEANING LAB. (3) You play the video on one computer while you run a 1/4 inch phone jack out of the headphones to another computer like a laptop with the other end of the jack plugged into the audio "IN" and record it with any audio program. If you don't have one there are dozens of free ones you can download from the internet. Kenn
Wow - I sang on a lot of records and commercials so I've been around the block a few times and I'm STILL impressed by what you do - I worked as a Jingle singer and sometimes I would hear the studio guys say "maybe they'll be a miracle in the mix" - now those words have new meaning to me -
My 45 did not have this 720P ( I had a 45 player and then a Hi Fi player) and was lucky to have that! But the sound still is remarkable all these years later!
Gore was her real name. Goldstein was listed on her birth certificate because her parents hadn’t changed back to their original name of Gore when she was born
Dr. Brian Paris, Can you please stop running the same ads about your products on every single RUclips video. It becomes tiresome to have to keep hitting the skip button after every single video shown. You are not promoting in a wise and prudent way your product. Run it maybe once a day, if you have to; right now, it is on every single click of the button. I was once interested in your products but every time I see your ads, with no new information, just hype and pitch, it make me not want to buy anything you’re were selling. Hard to know why you would want your video clip seen after every single RUclips video. Very counterproductive to the whole purpose of messaging. Thank you.
