Yowies are great. In the early 2000s they were popular with us Aussie kids and they were relaunched a few years ago. They're based on the mythical Australian creature of the same name and just like Kinder Surprises they were the original lootboxes but with a twist: All the toys were little plastic animals that you could assemble and collect but you also had a chance to get a rare Yowie or Grumkin figurine instead that was solid plastic. Grumkins were the villains who cause environmental destruction as opposed to the Yowies who were defenders of nature although the actual Yowie folklore paints them in a scarier light similar to Bigfoot or other cryptids. I even remember seeing Yowie toys sold alongside Pokémon cards at local markets in the early 2000s.
