This was very on time for me Alecia. I quit my customer service (contact center) job in September. I had been working for the company for 3 years -- 4 days a week for 10hrs. Being a parent by myself, I wasn't sleeping well or at all & eating an insane amount of processed foods without any exercise. I haven't found a new job yet and holding tight on my little savings. I'm using this time to literally catch up on rest, my body has been depleted ...hoping God will restore me.

I understand this. I quit my last program May 2019 and started at another university January 2023. I'm in a better program with a way better support system and on the path of fulfilling career that I didn't even dream was possible. ❤ My advice is to trust your instincts, you know.

In athletics, you need to be relentless. I personally think there are times in our lives when we do need to persevere. I think of Kerri Strug. She pushed through and inspired a nation. But, there are other times when we need to quit, or simply rest like when Simone Biles took time off for her mental health. There is a time and a place for everything. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
I literally love podcasts without having to have camera on etc. Podcasts turned into something else when it turned into videos. The original podcasts seem more intimate.

Last year, my body tried to warn me early on yet I chose to persevere and push through. The final draw came when I ended up in ER. I took a 4-month sabbatical that was one of the best decisions of my life! This year brought a well-paying job that is not in alignment with my skills, talents and abilities. Today, I realize it’s time to quit again. Every time I chose to honor myself, God ordered my steps and I always end up in a better place. As someone who stayed in toxic jobs and assignments until I felt homicidal, I had to learn the hard way that it's best to quit the things that don't serve you or that don't align with who you are. You may have to do what you gotta do for now but have a strategy to live in greater alignment. Start saying NO to things that put you out of harmony, so you make room to say YES to the things that enrich you and that work for you.

This was so refreshing b/c if it weren't for the online platforms and communities, I would feel like I'm alone in my thoughts. I work 2 shitty jobs that has me struggling to not just get by but remember who I am. I’m not living within community, in a country that I hate, that has no love for me, I have no family, my Mom is dying of cancer and STILL doesn’t get me or ever loved me as I needed. I was so stressed by her that I had to block her. I can’t pay my rent my jobs and hopelessness have me thinking of suicide. I can’t do this Alecia. I hate going home, Inhate waking up in the morning. I feel so alone and worthless. I looked for something from you today at work- was listening to your autumn special and my ear buds died. And now this?! I have done and followed what my Mom has wanted for me, teachers and former lovers- always what someone else wants for me. And I am so sick of Life. I am so sorry- I don’t even have a friend that I can talk to- I HEAR you Alecia; I have internalized the voice of my oppressors, and a family that thinks it’s noble to endure- I don’t. I am so close to the edge right now. Trying tho crying. Alone. Fml
That part of your mom is similar to my relationship with mines. It can mess you up and your life. A lot of parents do not understand this. Your story is sad, but it doesn't have to end like that.
