- This has (personally) been a long time coming! Alice is one of my favourite games and I've put it under my critical lens to see just why it's so lovable in what is now my longest video to date! To me, the Tweedles represent some of the Orderlies that have abused Alice. They even mention how she may need stronger medicine while she's IN Wonderland, making reference to her trauma in the real world.
No matter how old this game gets, it will always be amazing.
Even after the happy ending of this game (and the bittersweet one of the sequel, which i don't count as canon) Alice probably got really screwed later on in her life. She most likely had no schooling ever since the fire, and is forced to live with people who distrust her because of her past lunacy and history with the asylum. Also, she probably won't live for long, most likely dying in her 40's/50's, as life expectancy was shorter back then.
The Ending of the Sequel IS Canon

I bought a PC back in 2000 just to play this game and I am a console gamer mainly.
It hurts my head everytime I see the cat knock over the lamp, in AMR she says dina was in the room with her when the fire started. Then what are we being shown in the first game? Oof
This video game really did age like a fine red wine. However, I myself have never completed it. I'll probably get around to do it someday.
The sequel though, Alice: Madness Returns. That game I did complete. Maybe because I found it to be very, very easy and not that hard at all.
By the way, I'd love to hear your thoughts on Alice: Madness Returns... maybe even a video to complete the circle so to speak. ;)
I definitely am going to cover Madness Returns and am definitely not going to be nice about it lol

The sequel was good fun. Love the visuals. I found the difficulty setting perfect. Any harder and the game would have got really really frustrating
Could use a remasters, improving the controls, optimizes for modern machine, make people discover this little gem.
I would still HIGHLY recommend the first one, especially if yer young and have patience. It's one of my all-time recommends and I played it like 9 years after its launch. Also the OST of the first one is some of the best [video]game music ever made. I still have parts of it on my playlist.
Thumbs up for TR: Legend main theme. This is one of my most favourite game ost too.
And about Alice, this is one of my first game that I played as a kid, and it still holds up. Nice vid, thank you! (:
Great retrospective! It makes me feel like playing the game and I wasn't aware that it was included with Alice Returns (which I own but haven't played yet) so I look forward to playing it there, even if it might be a bad port...

Besides the fact this was a great video (thank you for making it!), i also agree on linear games. If they are good, i see no problem with linearity. Spec ops: the line is also linear and has bare bones mechanics yet people sit through it because its intense. Have a great day!

This video really sucked me into Alice's rabbit hole, at the time, i have finished playing both games. I have mixed feelings with Madness Returns, but AM Alice is such an amazing game. Thank you so much for introducing me into this amazing series!
Loved this one... drove me nuts though when they retconned who it was that started the fire and what the Red Queen symbolizes in the sequel.
If my daugther wants to play this one later, I may actually go and snip out the cat from the intro video to spare her the confusion.
It'd probably be easier to just to tell her that the beginning scene was Alice's interpretation of what happened while she was dreaming

Great review! The atmosphere and OST really drew me into this game.
Great video! Funily, for me the boss fight against the centipede was the hardest in the game and I needed to look up tactics online. But it is really an amazing game...I had it on my bucket list for years now and I am happy that I finally picked it up and played it. The voice acting, humor, game design and art is amazing despite its age.
Just finished Alice today! Such a good game and its awesome to see such good content of it being made
