I used to love hearing my mom talking about how my dad (jamie walton sr.) was the soloist for this song in San Diego for the marines. I wish I could hear
A Marine is a Marine no matter what the job is, but not every Marine has a combat Military Occupational Specialty, which means that just because they deploy does not mean they will see actual combat and since these Marines are in band they most likely will be on a base that has all the ammenities of home. Don't be fooled not all the Marines actually "fight" to perserve our freedoms. These Marines will probably be checking badges ( I am a Marine combat vet 7212 LAAD and 0811 Canoneer)
"Every Marine is a basic riflemen" is a load of crap; most Marines only see their rifle and shoot it once a year when they have to go the rifle range. Yes all the jobs are important, but I get sick and tired of hearing about Marines getting a hero's welcome after they come home from a deployment when all they did was pump gas, did mess duty, or worked in an AC/Heated office on camp cup-cake never going outside the wire. I feel the same. Unless I see a CAR on their chest, being deployed doesn’t mean much.
