Its kinda funny how KH is known for being a Disney x FF crossover yet the most important characters are from TWEWY, a franchise almost no one recognized when they first saw it in DDD This is kind of a fun fact but have no one ever noticed that DDD's split worlds system is identical in functionality to the DS TWEWY combat system? I mean, in the DS version, Neku and his partner doesn't fight in the same space, they are separated in two realities and each one fights in one of them, if one of them takes damage from the noise, they both takes damage, and if a noise is erased in one reality, is erased in the other one too. You can see exactly that in DDD in things like the box trap being erased in Country of the Musketeers once riku fixes a machine in his dimension, saving sora and the musketeers, or when they trap the Spellican in the third district in both worlds so he can't escape, or when they save Mickey finding both sound ideas in each world, and when Riku tries to wake sora up in The World That Never Was and Sora can actually hear him in his dreams And that's why Sora says to Joshua that Riku is always with him no matter where they are. Sora and Riku have a pact stronger than being just partners, they are true friends

Yeah I think that the TWEWY cast, except Joshua, won’t remember Sora or Riku. Remember that this Traverse Town is made from Joshua’s dreams, including the people. We can see this through the TWEWY cast. Joshua knows the most about Neku and thus the Neku that appeared here knew about pretty much everything. Plus, the scene between Neku and Joshua could be something like a wish that Neku will forgive Joshua (since at the end of TWEWY Neku says that he doesn’t forgive him). Plus, Joshua barely knows anything about Rhyme, probably only really her name. Neku never really told Joshua about her. Hence, the Rhyme here has amnesia and only remembers her name. This happens with Shiki and Beat, too; only knowing the things about themselves that Joshua knows. (Shiki still looks like Eri because Joshua doesn’t know what the real Shiki looks like (and they haven’t shown the real Shiki’s face yet)) That’s really only why I think the TWEWY cast won’t really remember Sora and Riku (besides Joshua of course) but who knows maybe they’ll remember after all.
If the Tron Legacy world is any indication, they can maybe remember Sora and Riku if they think hard about it. I mean, Sora was trying to get the original version of Tron to remember stuff the Tron from Radiant Garder would know, and it seemingly worked in the end.
I love your explanation for Neku being visible to Sora, it is really nice and fits well with the lore but also I'm fairly sure being dead in TWEWY doesn't make you invisible, being in the UG (the UnderGround) does to people in the RG (RealGround) and it just so happens that most people in the UG are dead and most people in the RG are alive (Reapers, the Composer and other such beings being the exception, especially as they can travel between them and then conform to the right level of visiblity). So Sora can see Neku because they're in the same layer of reality and Traverse Town does not have a UG/RG split. Instead it has the split between the two dreams which leads to Sora and Riku not seeing each other. Also Joshua was clearly talking about Riku reminding him of Neku imo.

In the secret reports of the first game, Hanekoma mentions that Joshua has some form of clairvoyance, but it was toned down in the UG like the rest of his angel/Composer powers, the lower the plane, the lower you vibe has to be and so the lower your powers, the higher the plane the higher the vibe and the higher the power. But since this isn't the RG, UG or any of the other TWEWY planes but rather a sleeping world (which yeah, who knows if the vibe requierments are lower or higher than the RG/UG, but again, who knows), who's to say all that foreshadowing Joshua did, from this scene to the one where he foreshadows Remind, weren't on purpose in universe?
I was really surprised to see mentioned that your friend didnt think Riku and Neku were similar! they both have problems making friends, Riku particularly after his brush with Darkness, and dont do people easily-- Sora chases after Riku and stays by his side even when he wants to distance himself from him and everyone else, just like Shiki does with Neku! In a way, Riku always had that bit of arrogance to him (kh1 Riku that is) that isnt too unlike Neku's. But generally, both hold themselves back, Neku out of pride and Riku out of guilt... and just like Neku, Riku learns how to trust in Sora like Sora trusts him, learns to expand his borders, so to speak, to accept himself with all his flaws (a big theme on Twewy!). He slowly gets that wonder for the world that Sora has, so much that he calls his heart "Sora-esque" later on! Its a really sweet arc that suits the twewy reference a lot!! besides, he even acts like Neku here, with Shiki teasing him and him just huffing and going all "..." with this arms crossed |D and ofc, on Sora's side, the being used as a pawn in someone's Game- particularly in Xehanort's... but in light of UX, he is LITERALLY a chess piece, now in the Master of Master's Game. I dont think he's dumbed down in DDD either, Sora always saw the best in people and one of the things I love about KH is that it really owns Sora as a hero... that being a good person isnt naive and it can change worlds and lives. Yea, he gets tricked here, but him seeing the best in people helped him in countless worlds before, no wonder he's used to the formula |D and he still maintains that personality we love even after being "used", after failing, he's kind and compassionate even to his enemies when they're loosing, and overall i love how KH just. reinforces that. usually you have to be a tough badass who cant trust anyone or else youre foolish, but KH celebrates people like Sora (and is half of why I hate the theory of him being MoM), and I'm super interested on if they'll keep this trend going forward or change it considering he's now up against the manipulator of manipulators :D kh3 heavily implies that Sora's mentality, that "carrying around a little hurt cant be all bad, it just shows that I care" without actually working through them is gonna come back to bite him, but... well, I guess i'm gonna be like Kairi and hope he remains the happy and cheerful Sora I know... that line scares me so much haha also, the whole pattern of Sora and Riku in 3D is super close to the whole "working together as partners" thing, they literally cant unlock new worlds unless you clear the "missions" as both. And it's 7 sleeping keyholes, like the 7 days it takes to complete a full Game in Twewy! (also also, this is long but I keep reacting to it as I go lmao, consider this a liveblog? but I'm super happy your friend picked on the thing with Re:Mind! The way each of the guardians sends a beam of light into each shard of Kairi's heart-- each person starts to exist once someone looks at them and sees something, right? as Joshua said? Sora's collecting Kairi's pieces, and then he's using the way each of her friends see her to bind them together. And by Ux's standards... He now has a medium for her heart, and Sora has the memories of her... By the MoM's lifeboat-timetravel rules thingy, Sora's reconstituting her body in a perfectly plausible way by KH's lore :D) needless to say, I'm so so so hoping that Twewy plays a part into the next part of the Saga! Shibuya's in Quadratum, come on Square ;-; ...and lastly, neat little moment with Joshua saying that "rules dont apply if your hearts are connected", and Sora saying "cant I bend the rules a little?" isnt that literally what he does to save his friends? Uses the power of waking to reach his friends' hearts; and then uses the whole theme of connections from Re:Mind to bend the rules and bring Kairi back. I love the twewy bits in DDD SO dang much man! SO much foreshadowing specifically through these fantastic characters

At the first I played DDD I thought Joshua was talking about Neku. But I started to think: in The World Ends With You, at the start, Neku had one dream. He dreamed to be invisible to everyone, so no one would ever bother him. Now I think who Joshua described is Yozora because he said: "You kinda remind me of him". And well... Riku almost identical to Yozora.
Twewy Spoilers Joshua is an Angel. Angels can raise their vibration to such a level they become Formless like Darkness. This allows them to pass the borders of Realities, and jump timelines. Also, there can be multiple version of the same being, and Fallen versions (Angels affected by Darkness?).

Guys... guys... I managed to get something now... This game takes place in Neo, chapter SBY. These are the older versions of the classic Twewy characters, but they're missing parts because those were eaten by Cantus Corvus! And now to allow those 4 to survive even if Rindo fails, Joshua saved their dreams in Traverse town!!! And then when HE succeeds, Joshua notices and that's why he appears in Chapter SHIBUYA!!! Because he wants to see how Shibuya and its people defend themselves like Neku showed him years ago and to combine the shattered past versions of Neku, Shiki, Beat and Rhyme with the actual ones without them noticing thanks to all of the noise going around!
Square Enix and Nomura really haven't promised anything TWEWY related in the future of the KH series, in spite of Sora being in the "104 Building" Shibuya for KH4. I'm hoping beyond hope that it's just a mislead and that we get the TWEWY characters, if only for the set-up given to us by DDD if nothing else. They _name-dropped_ Shibuya and then Sora actually _ended up in_ Shibuya. I know the KH series can be flaky about its direction and that aspects like character cameos seem to be implemented less for storytelling and more for the fan recognition (if how KH3 treated the FF characters is anything to go by), but this is honestly a critical moment in treating not just the TWEWY characters but the whole KH series with some frickin' respect. If the TWEWY gang don't get even so much as a mention in KH4, then continuity truly means nothing to Kingdom Hearts and it will genuinely be a tipping point for my retained interest in the series. Watching you guys' analysis, there's _so much_ potential here. I just don't know if I trust Nomura and Co. to treat Kingdom Hearts like a story with its own established uses of world and character rather than a money-making sandbox. There was a time when I would have done so without question, but my faith has been getting shaken lately. A lot is riding on KH4.

Im 100% convinced that TWEWY is canon to KH but not the other way around. the plot and lore of TWEWY universe effects the canon to the KH universe but the KH games have no effect to the TWEWY games.

If the TWEWY gang don't get even so much as a mention in KH4, then continuity truly means nothing to Kingdom Hearts and it will genuinely be a tipping point for my retained interest in the series.
Watching you guys' analysis, there's _so much_ potential here. I just don't know if I trust Nomura and Co. to treat Kingdom Hearts like a story with its own established uses of world and character rather than a money-making sandbox. There was a time when I would have done so without question, but my faith has been getting shaken lately. A lot is riding on KH4.

Im 100% convinced that TWEWY is canon to KH but not the other way around.
the plot and lore of TWEWY universe effects the canon to the KH universe but the KH games have no effect to the TWEWY games.
