What I really liked about this game was that instead of a 'stereotypical drunk dad' that is usually shown in media, it was a mom. Alot of places show mothers to be the better parents than fathers, especially in tv and games. It's really sad because I personally had a mom that was like this, and I feel that moms being bad parents are not shown more.
Actually i think in this story both parents were bad the dad beat the mom and that messed her up mentally that she started to drink, and when she is drunk she becomes like her husband and starts beating the child too,so i don't think the kid gets a happy ending at all,cus you know both his parents were beaters and abusers, unless the person that appeared at the front door was actually Child Services(and not the dad),a child service that is called to take away children from abusive families to be taken care of by other much kinder people, when things get worse for the abused child, and measures need to be taken to get the child out of a bad household situation, but even child protective services have their fair share of abuse In their company's same goes for some orphanages,so where is even the kid going to be safe, but i think if they hire someone to do good background checks on these services and orphanages the people who check those places can find if Said place is clean from bad things.
@@sephirothcrescent5768 Yeah but the dad is most likely less terrible, he cares about the kid! but the mom seems like the type to not care that she hurts her child….cause she’s the monster….
I really like how this explains the story and how the mom is actually the real monster by destroying the teddy and not allowing the father to see his son and her alcohol issues by feeling neglected by her husband. The teddy is believed by some to be the father trying to communicate to his son to help him get away from his mom due to her alcohol issues.
they are both not right to be taking care of him like he said in the video the father beats the mom the mom beats the son take away the mom the dad is beating the son they are both abusers and neither of them should be a parent
Personally, I do agree with the people saying that that scene where the father is 'beating' the mother was him holding a bottle. However, I do honestly see it looking more like him beating her. Yet, I personally think he didn't want her drunk. The father is shined in a good light a little too much to do that imo.
hmmm yk abusive parents can still be seen in a very good light by people like in the game (coming from experience) and the abuse probably wasn't towards the child, so he doesn't realizes how awful he is and sees him as a hero. we even see her mom being scared when she hears him.
It's probably shown as an important reason the kid isn't with his dad: the hitting of the mom. Despite how hard the dad works and clearly still tries, AND the mom knocked over his crib while drunk off wine, family court only noticed the dad's mistakes...
since we're watchign this in the poitn of view of the child,I think the mother has been trying to get the child to not look up at his dad,and that could have elad to the child's mind twsting the moments his dad was trying to keep botles away from her as him hurting her.even if the child still looked up to their dad,but the lies had it's effects.
@@Valerianroots ah, yes I know! I had watched another video that had explained this before. I should really start watching these during the day and not night though lol.
The interesting factor is that the abusive mom got custody. This game can act as a mirror to society's views on mothers v fathers. The game was misleading, letting players to believe the father was abusive and not the mother; it's a bias seen in divorce courts as well. It's not until we dig that we find out the truth about this couple. It's a very surreal take yet unfortunate reality. Even when the mother is abusive, it's more difficult for the father to get custody, let alone see his kid. He clearly cares about him, and idk his back story, I heard he beat the wife, but for the child's sake it's, from what I see in the game, a drunk/abusive mom v. the dad. Assuming the dad didn't abuse the child, I'd take the dad.
In the DLC, it's somewhat shown that the dad and the mom didn't get along well. It seemed that the mom's alcoholism that caused them to split and the dad is concerned about his kid being with his mom. It's sad, really, that the alcoholic mom got custody instead of the genuinely concerned dad. I'm glad that the dad "saves" his kid at the end, though.
And vise versa too, In the state I live in they tend to always believe the fathers and I have an alcoholic father who has always been very abusive, but my mother could never manage to get rid of custody because of how much my state prefers fathers. We even have proof buys it’s never been enough. It’s sad how society works
Man this game is sad. Ugh, the mother disgusts me, the most selfish kind. "I rather abuse my child then let my ex "win"" like, it's not a contest, it's not revenge on your ex, you're ABUSING your CHILD. Ugh, and her fake "love", you can't tell me she loves her, even if she FEELS love to him, she doesn't actually. If she did she wouldn't be abusive.
There's a lot of wiggle room for interpretation but it looks like the classic "hurt people hurt people" scenario. I don't think she'd rather abuse the child than give him up. Something abusive partners might do after you break up with them is take whatever you love the most or what they think would hurt you the most in this case the son. I can understand her turning to drinking to cope with the emotions especially the fear of knowing this man who possibly abused her can take her child at any time and end up abusing him too the child doesn't know that because, if this is a situation where the mother is being abused, women often hide being hurt by their significant other and tend to basically self destruct instead. Just imagine if the boy ever tried to get in between her and the dad during an argument.
@@trenaeturane976 and plus the dad was a workaholic and didn’t make time for the wife she started her drinking problem in between the prologue some where she took the son So my guess that the mom and dad relationship was alright falling aprat So she became a drunk He became a workaholic and was only make time for the child
The people who keep defending the mothers abuse and neglect and paint the father as a wife beater (after a wonky scene where it doesn't even look like a slap but more as him taking the bottle away) are what's wrong with society
I’m neither in the side of the dad or the mom cause but are wrong and just not in a good mental state And is just a game Though this things do happen in real life
@@snorky184 It's the ideas behind the game that are MEANT to be taken seriously. You think the developers made this game with the intent that people not think while they play? This isn't Barney and friends, these are adult themes that are meant to be thought about in a serious manner by the player.
This game is nostalgic and i really and still love it. I emailed the developers on a sequal, and they responded to stay updated w their twitter. I hope there is
This game is a rare perspective of a child going through abuse, a very young child at that. Whilst there may be others out there this one perhaps stands out the most.
Honestly, I don't believe the dad was beating the mom. I think she looked "scared" because she didn't want the dad to take the baby from her. She even said that near the end of the game. "He will not take you from me!" The dad was painted in too much of a good light for that to be the case. I do however believe they broke out in arguments due to her drinking. The dad was showed to be the better parent and that wouldn't make sense if he was actually abusive. I mean, the teddy bear resembled the dad, which the baby held onto in comfort and the teddy always had a soft, comforting tone in his voice, just like the dad at the end. They were most likely in a custody battle and that's what the mom was probably scared of.
@@guess_ill_just_uhhh the mom was literally a drunk and pushed her baby on the floor really hard. The dad was the voice of the teddy which comforted the child while the mother was the monster to the child.
@@meepmoe what ur saying is all 100% true. I just wanna know what her cause of alcoholism is. Thats the one thing barring this game from likeable status for me.
The father was never the issue in the game, at any point! This is why the child sees him as his saviour! Other sources even state, "...one flashback shows that he (the father) hits her when she collapses to the floor (implying he was protecting David from Zoey's drunken state, resulting of the divorce)." The problem is the mother was ALWAYS the nightmarish monster. The dad is the savior to the child in the game. It is even stated that, "When David goes to the door (at the end of the game), it opens and reveals a glowing white light. Justin (the father) is heard talking to David, remarking on Teddy's broken arm, stating that he can fix him. It is implied that Justin gains full custody of his child after this." So the dad IS NOT a wife beater! The mom was and is the problem... That is all.
Additionally, it wouldn't make sense for the baby to imagine his father's voice as a form of comfort and security if the baby witnessed seriously abusive behavior directed from him towards mom during the time he saw them together.
Dude, it's been noted by all, the father didn't beat the wife but taking a booze bottle, idk if that's true but if the majority is saying it, it most likely means you should point out you being potentially wrong, doesn't mean he ain't helping for not trying to get her help but the dad is not abusive. (of course I could be wrong)
Fun fact: The bear was originally the villian. It's possible he was designed to be a villian, but then got a changed role and the devs kept the model the same to change time.
Often having a child causes mental health issues. Parents get overwhelmed easily. You have to teach them everything from scratch and need a lot of patients.
@@plzleavemealone9660 then don't have kids if you can't deal with raising the kid. Everyone knows kids are a lot of work. Maybe they should use birth control and condoms so they won't have kids.
@@michelleperrish6081 What part of my sentence did you not understand? People can be a 100% sure they'll be good parents and theb develop mental issues after giving birth or shortly before. They might struggle with things they didn't expect. That attitude is the exact reason many parents don't get help.
Just like in real life they try to portray the father has the bad guy, if it was the father who was the one drinking the child would have been instantly ripped away but since it's the mother god forbid taking the child away from the mother and the dad is treated as the second class parent. In the end the dad gets the custody over the child as implied by the dlc ending
This is a sad reality in our world where the mother is always looked at as the good parent but some (based on existing videos) are as neglectful and abusive as the bad dads are. It reminded me of that one instance where despite the fact a mother was not mentally fit to take care of her child with all the evidence there, this one judge gave custody to her despite the father's protest. Litterally a couple of days later, the mother killed the son. When the dad made an angry post criticizing the the judge on Facebook, the judge got him arrested and raised his bond from 1k to 500k. The father's name was Jonathan Vanderhagen. Physical abuse isn't the only thing that is mentioned as some mothers love to turn their child against their parent for a variety of reasons or being too harsh because they look like their parent. It's even gotten to the point where some women bragged about using their kid to get money out of the father seemily wanting to get knocked up to hold him for 18 years or mom. Society has a double standard to the point where in these cases, the guy gets screwed over, and hopefully things will get better. Maybe that one case with Johnny Depp may trigger something.
This game is my childhood, it brings such nostalogia on sunny days, Like never ending nightmares when i used to watch these horror games it was always on a bbq with all my family members. I can't explain how this nostalogia hits.
Genuine question: What's the evidence for the dad being abusive to the mom? I keep seeing a lot of comments about this, but I haven't seen any evidence anywhere to back that up.
There's a scene in the dlc where it looks like he's raising a hand at her while she's cowering away, which is shown in the video. However it can really be seen as a game theory because we don't know if he's going to hit her, or if he might be taking a bottle away, or if he's just getting upset that she's drinking when he's at work, and so on. I really wish he went into different theories in the video.
@@maddiej3202 Gotcha! That does make sense why people would think that then. I don't think we have enough "textual" evidence to read that as him abusing her though if that's the only instance. The game clearly is discussing the physical and verbal abuse of this baby by his mother, so it would make sense that the dad was defending the child rather than hurting the mom, but that's just my thought.
I believe that the dad was actually taking away a beer bottle, which some other people believe as well. He was unhappy that his wife was drinking and he was trying to get her to stop. He was concerned about the safety of her and their child.
I tend to believe that the scene where we see Justin poised as if to strike Zoey isn't so much him beating her, but more him trying to defend his son from her, and in the action makes her fall or potentially hurts her. We've already seen that she's willing to let the kid free-fall to the floor trying to rip the bear from him....Or else its the father trying to take the bottle from her, as we know they argue a lot about her wine and drinking. Other than this scene, we really don't see any evidence of the parents relationship being one of abuse. She could've been startled by just not expecting anyone to show up, and feel unease because it might be the dad and she wants nothing to do with him. If anything, I think the mother tends to drink because she feels neglected by Justin working all the time and leaving her alone to raise the kid, not so much active abuse
I get that she's the villian, but in her defense if he beat her, he's more than likely abusive and will end up beating the child lol. I get that he's the best thing the child has ( because he doesn't know him) but he really isn't the hero in this game, this game has no hero.
I don' think that she's the vilain. she behaves poorly and the child's perspective sees her as a monster because of how impressionnable his mind is. shes a bad parent but idk about "the vilain"
@@seapop2629 I kinda agree. Sober mom tries her best to be a good mom to her toddler, despite all the stress she has as a single mother and (presumably) refusing her ex to even see his kid. Drunk mom, on the other hand, is full of rage and sorrow. She does not understand much, only that "my ex brought this here, I need to take it out" despite the gift being for the toddler. Near the end of the game, when the tot takes the teddy back from the mom, still being a bit drunk pushes the kid away, most likely thinking that her ex came back to try and negotiate with her to see the tot again. Edit: forgot to mention she was very regretful once she realized it was only her kid wanting the teddy back
I kinda hope the father isn’t abusive, cause… then that means the father took the kid away, and the kid will be in a bad spot. Plus… I think if the father were abusive, or neglectful, he wouldn’t care enough to bring the bear over. But he did. I think the husband was working too hard, and neglecting her because of work, but not abuse. Why would the kid be fond of a father who abused his mother? Why wouldn’t he see the father as a monster too?
I remember watching play through of this game and really liked the story in it. This is a really nice explanation of everything since it’s been a while since I’ve seen this.
Can ya'll please stop changing the narrative of the story. It's always the man who you never like to see painted in a good light stop conforming to original stereotypes of the "drunk, irresponsible, workaholic, and abusive dad". It doesn't always have to be like that
Nobody who claimed that the dad was abusive denied that the mom was abusive too. This wasn’t about gender stereotypes or else they would have denied that the mom was also abusive.
I think the debate between if the dad was beating the mom or was holding a bottle to try and stop her from drinking could be explained by the original ending. Once the baby gets away from the "momsters" so it's just the boy and the teddy dad. Teddy then "gets comfortable" and shifts into his true form of a monster hiding in a teddy bear coat and proceeds to cook the child to consume them, like he did to many others. The dad is acting like he is the good guy in public to get his son back so he has a victim he can have control of easier with the added benefit of getting to be the "winner" between the parents for custody, which makes it easier to hide his real personality. The consuming part is likely the kid ends up either being broken or becoming like his parents.
I don't think using the "original" ending is a good ground for argument, as the game would have been about multiple children back when that ending would have been used. Also, It's not exactly fair to use an early concept to explain the finished product, since the two differ so drastically.
@@TheLastBlenderBender True, it could have started off that way and changed. I'm not sure but I am just theorizing at this point. If we were meant to accept that the dad was the better option then why show a prologue that could call the "good" ending into question though? No one is perfect either. It could just be that the dad accidentally hurt her. Idk
The original ending has nothing to do with this. The original ending belonged to what was probably a completely different story that was scrapped for the one we got so you shouldn’t use what is essentially non-canonical stuff to support your argument. The only thing that points to the dad being bad is the DEBATABLE image where it either looks like he’s hitting the mom or taking the bottle from her. Besides that, there’s really nothing to say that he’s a bad person, only that he was a workaholic at the time of their marriage which is what drove the mother to drinking because she felt neglected. By the time the main game is in action, he may very well have gotten over that workaholic faze with how he’s showing up on his sons birthday, showing that he remembers, and trying to gift him Teddy, which of course doesn’t go as planned because the mother told him to leave and denied him the right to see his child before taking Teddy and shutting the door on him.
@@wizardwolf1020😂You are a serious clown. "The original ending doesn't matter because it didn't come with the finished project". Dude the fact that it was going to be the original ending ALONE says that's what they wanted the story to be seen as, What I'm betting is a bunch of Pansy Beta testers (and probably nothing more than Soy Boys and Karens) had a hissy fit about the original ending so the developers changed it just to make the large Majority of snowflakes such as yourself happy.
So I'm no expert on the game but looking at footage, we can see she isn't neglectful, when she walks away for a few short moments she puts you in the crib for safety, it's not her fault you manage to escape. No, I think it's something different. Abuse victims commonly find comfort in alcohol or maybe some sort of drug, but alcohol is the safest bet. Maybe the monster is the Mom drunk, which is why you don't recognize her. It would also explain why there's implications of abuse for your character, but she's seemingly kind at the opening and other moments showing her. Maybe she's only abusive when drinking
That's still abusive, still a bad thing and she still needs to get her shit together if she actually loves her child, but she's abusive so she clearly doesn't
I can say that it doesn’t matter if you’re sober or not, what my mom did while drunk is still things she’s did. Don’t excuse it by “She’s an abuse victim” or “She just needs to drink because her life is so hard.” Drinking will NEVER fix it. It’ll only make it worse.
This is true horror to me Cuz i was abused as a child and I'm now a mother who would never hurt my child the way my mom hurt me or the rest of my family treated me.
This is depressing in so many ways. This child sees his dad as a hero not realizing he's probably the reason or a big part of why his mom is an abusive drunk. I bring this up because you mention in the end what witnessing an alcoholic parent can do to a child with an underdeveloped mind, but I think it's more than that. It's how a young child's perspective can be tainted by a divorce/abusive home life especially when they're too young to understand the entire situation. I wouldn't be surprised if the father is still mentally abusing the mom and his next step in completely destroying her is taking their son away, that's why she says it, which would be easier now with her broken mental state and probably bruises on the kid. And all the kid will remember is how she hit him, not how the dad abused her and she in turn abused him. I think the father being shown as this good guy is only to further muddy the child's and our perspective of the situation since "but he's such a nice guy" is something abused women hear often leading them to make desperate decisions hence why Teddy said she looks desperate. I don't think it's a coincidence that the father showed up with this heavenly ass light right after the mom hits the child.
I don't think the father is abusive. Taken from the Wiki: This along with other things naturally sparked a lot of controversy on the possibility that he was abusive to her, but some evidence may point otherwise. First, the arguments may have been about her addiction to wine. It is possible he was trying to get her to quit, but she either wouldn't or couldn't stop. As a result, the marriage began to fall apart. Second, it is possible she was drunk and about to harm his son. He, then, was merely protecting him from her and then harming his own wife in the process. In this case, the divorce could have been because he recognized she was getting too violent towards their son, or she felt that he was abusive towards her which will cause confusion to the child. Also, considering mothers are more likely to abuse children (source: childprotectionresource.online/mothers-are-more-likely-to-abuse-children-than-fathers-fact/) I'm 100% the Father IS the hero in this story. Especially with Teddy helping the Toddler.
@@schizoidmeme5470 Yeah I can see that, this game can surely mirror some real world situations, the government normally takes the side of the mother even if she is not the right choice when it comes to care for the children and many times dads get the end of the stick. In the end of the game, the father is surrounded by light and proposed to fix the arm of Teddy who was ripped off by the mother who lose the custody of their child. When looking for Teddy who was in the washing-machine, the crib where the child was get knocked over after Teddy 'floated' out of it.
well the mom already abuses the child and so that might be the reason the dad got mad and beat her and the dad never beat her he just took a bottle of alchohol from her
If so, then why doesn't the kid see his father as the three monsters? One of the monsters has this very feminine shape, plus why would the father give the kid a gift?

i love horror video games, and my mom is emotionally abusive and controlling, using things like money and family to control me. its just as bad as any domestic abuse. feeling scared to live day to day, seeing her as different people, risking being manipulated and mentally beat up, is terrible. and takes even longer to heal than physical beatings, as in i don’t think i’ll ever fully recover. it’s so tru that mothers can be demonic. most stories say it’s only the father but mothers can hurt u even worse because people don’t see the pain mothers cause. this game has a very important message and it’s why i live these video games
Honestly, I think both the parents r wrong it doesn't matter how u view it if you think the after beating the mom because she was drinking is right u need help it u see a person drinking and they can't control themselves u need to find them help you hitting a person that already needs help isn't helping the situation and the last part where the father finally sees his child made it seem like a good thing but it's really not I like the only reason the baby even saw the father as his savior was because he wasn't the one being abused by him the mom was but take the mom out of the picture and he is next in line to be getting abused
@@larsthememelord3383 that honestly makes more sense considering that there’s basically nothing else besides that image where some people think it’s him beating the mom when it’s very likely not because everything else pointed to him being a good guy. You have to take a moment and think that if the father really was this bad of a person then why would he go out of his way to remember his sons birthday, buy him a birthday present, and try to go see him only so he could what? Take him away just so he could abuse him? Why? What would he gain from doing all that nice stuff if all he’s going to do is beat his toddler of a son? It just doesn’t make sense for that to be the case. The thing about the dad is that he was a workaholic while he and the mom were married which made her feel neglected which drove her to start drinking, something that became a huge problem as she became an alcoholic after a while, something he probably didn’t noticed due to working all the time and not before it was too late and the two were essentially calling off the marriage where the mother was given custody of the child due to the court system actually favoring the mothers when it came to handling who should have custody over the child as it’s been proven that babies are more attached to their mothers than their fathers which would obviously affect the decision making process.
A lot of people who play the prologue mistake the memory that the father is beating up the mother. Actually, the father is taking the alcohol bottle away from the mother. The mother resorted to drinking as a way to cope thinking the father is neglecting her and their child hence the memory of the mom knocking on the door and the father in his work room in the house. Actually, the thing is the father is working long because he's doing whatever it takes to provide for the family, but the mother's own negative thoughts overcame her. Hence she lashes out and becomes all those 3 monsters throughout the game.
This is correct! The father is not abusive, it is the mother! Even the host of this video got it wrong! "...one flashback shows that he (the father) hits her when she collapses to the floor (implying he was protecting David from Zoey's drunken state, resulting of the divorce)." The mother is the "nightmare" all along!
I actually have a different theory that doesn't stray too far from your own. I agree, the father was working long hours, so much that the mother felt neglected without realizing sometimes it's necessary if they agreed on his role as the major breadwinner while she the housewife, developing her skills as a painter (in the opening level of the main game, in the Mom's room, you can see an easel with a painting on it near one of the windows). So she drives herself to drink to cope, which shocks the father. Based on the silhouettes of her sulking away as he holds his arms out towards her, he wanted to address the issue. But her drinking got worse and it became extra difficult for him to bear so, as his method of coping, he threw himself into his work (the silhouette of her knocking on his office door and the silhouette of him at his desk in the office ignoring it). The silhouette with his raised hand towering above as if poised to hit her while she's sat on the ground could mean him snatching a bottle from her, defending the baby before she could harm him in one of her drunken stupors, or reaching his limit with her increasing intoxication and threatening to hit her before stopping himself. Instigating her leaving the house and the divorce. It fits with what the developers intended with the DLC: Relationships are hard work and neither parent handled it well at the time. Though, in the main game, it appears the dad managed to conquer his own personal demons.
@@emirlsanchos6302 Wow your right. Both parents needed to solve their own matters to build the family back. The father has conquered his own but the mother needs to do so as well.
when your guardian is angry and sad the room dont feel good and even the simple thing that use to make you happy change , this can shape the kid future alot
Honestly the way i see it both parents have visible issues and are in the wrong, the mother being an alcoholic, neglectful and possesive person not wanting to give her child up then theres the father who mightve abused the mother without the child knowing and constanly only showing affection to the child and neglecting the mother. However i believe that there is some redemption for the father (dont take this as actual fact) maybe him giving teddy to the child is him trying to fix his mistakes by trying to be a better father and the mother trying to get rid of teddy is her trying to cut off any connection from the father to the child. Either way both parents arent completely innocent and have flaws that are somewhat shown, if the developpers expand the universe by making a sequel (yes i know the game's fame has pretty much died ) showing what the child life with the father is like maybe the flaws the father had could be brought into the light aswell showing that both parent are equally or not, able to care for this kid or raise them. Btw if anyone is willing to comment on this just know that this is me showing how i saw the story of the game and its my opinion on my perslective, any critisism made will prob be not get noticed unless its to correct some inacurrecies i made in it but if its just to try and start an argument with me ill just ignore it by not answering back its not me trying to ignore your opinion and me thinking your opinion doesnt matter, its just me not wanted to go thru the problem of arguing with someone who thinks they know better and that their opinion is the more important one. Either way the only thing ill add is that developpement starts back up so we can get a among the sleep two maybe showing more light to the parents story
I'm not gonna lie: I think he might of only hit her because she was drunk with the kid, or if he was working more, she cheated. It's more like: the dad isn't perfect, but clearly he's the better parent. You shouldn't hit women, but it's not always absolutely no reason.

I don’t think the mom was beat by the dad, it was more a case of the mom keeping the kid from the dad. She was startled because she wasn’t expecting it hoping nothing would ruin such a happy day. The mom is definitely an alcoholic and took the bear from her kid as it was a gift from the kids dad. The mom is most likely the bad parent while the father, while possibly absent sometimes as that could be a reason the mother has custody. The mother could possibly be narcissistic, considering everything, though I could be wrong. The child might know that something isn’t right at home with the commentary teddy says about how “somethings wrong”.

If some people are wondering, the mother will almost always get the child if they get a divorce, even if she herself was abusive. (I think that is horrible)
I think part of that may have to do with the relationship between a mother and their child (totally opinion) and so that affects how the custody is decided as more often than not, the child will be more attached to their mother than their father. I can attest because even though my parents aren’t divorced, if I was faced with a situation where I had to pick between them, I’d more likely pick my mom cause I do favor her more than my father despite how good he is to me.
So the father is abusive to the wife and apparently the child being with the father is apparently better? This kid needs to be with a different person, not the mother or father.
The well story that teddy also reads in the beginning could be fore shadowing! I took the memory chambers as the kid sacrificing their childhood memories due to trauma as a way to realize/notice
my personal family was a lot like this same thing with Dad and a little bit like Mom my mother was not fit to take care of me because she was living with her sister and me and my brother were also there two dogs and my aunt's husband so I stayed with my grandparents for a 3-4 years but now she's gotten a lot better and soon I'll be back with her
Actually the way it's depicted seems to suggest that it's not the father. But a social security worker who was dealing with the family and trying to resolve the abuse. Theres never mention of the father suggesting he left, or just isn't around anymore
I have a theory that the father put an Walkie Talkie in teddy becouse he got worried about the mother alcohol abuse and he wanted to make sure the kid wasen’t harmed that’s why he arrived to get the kid afther that night when he realized that the mother did abused him and he stepped in when it become physical , that’s why teddy guided him when the kid got scared , the mom realized it and tried to take away the teddy but she melted down realizing that he got all the evidence that he needed to take the kid from her care
Not going to lie. I'd slap my spouse too if they were a drunken mess and, despite all efforts to try to shape them up post having the child, goes to abuse said child as if it was their fault they were drunk. People who think the father was a 'wife beater', for doing what any parent would when their child is threatened... :\
I second everything you said here, if someone abuse a child and refuse to seek help, this is concerning, not for the 'parent' but the child who live in an environment that could be a huge treat to the child’s life, or worse.
To be honest, i dont think beating an alcoholic is a good idea , that will only make the person more in despair ,if thats what got them into alcohol that is ,
@@itznptime Quite frankly, if I was abusing my spouse to lead them to drinking to begin with, that relationship never would have gotten far as having children. Nine times out of ten the mother in this game has underlaying mental problems that got exacerbated post-birth with the post-partem depression and it never got dealt with, leading to the mother seeing her child as the scapegoat for all of her issues.
no normal human being in their right mind would mentally and physically abuse someone because what they are doing is wrong, they would rather send them to seek professional help at a rehabilitation. whether or not the father supposedly slapped the mother doesn't deny the fact you're siding WITH abuse even if you claim the latter.

What I really liked about this game was that instead of a 'stereotypical drunk dad' that is usually shown in media, it was a mom. Alot of places show mothers to be the better parents than fathers, especially in tv and games. It's really sad because I personally had a mom that was like this, and I feel that moms being bad parents are not shown more.
tbh drunk moms are more prevalent than drunk dads.

Personally, I do agree with the people saying that that scene where the father is 'beating' the mother was him holding a bottle. However, I do honestly see it looking more like him beating her. Yet, I personally think he didn't want her drunk. The father is shined in a good light a little too much to do that imo.
True tho since we are a kid maybe our dad isn't as amazing as we think but since he's not as bad as the mom the kid loves him
hmmm yk abusive parents can still be seen in a very good light by people like in the game (coming from experience) and the abuse probably wasn't towards the child, so he doesn't realizes how awful he is and sees him as a hero.
we even see her mom being scared when she hears him.

The crazy part is people thought the dad was abusive with the DLC came out
There's a lot of wiggle room for interpretation but it looks like the classic "hurt people hurt people" scenario.
Your totally right no parent has the rights to abuse there kids, no one has that right
I don’t remember there being any evidence to her being abusive; only some evidence of her being a drunk. If anything the dad is.

That teddy bear is spooky. Those eyes haunt me.
0-0
I agree with you.

@Longhorn XII 2015
I remember this game from when ihascupquake played it
The father was never the issue in the game, at any point! It is implied that Justin gains full custody of his child after this."
So the dad IS NOT a wife beater! The mom was and is the problem...
That is all.
Additionally, it wouldn't make sense for the baby to imagine his father's voice as a form of comfort and security if the baby witnessed seriously abusive behavior directed from him towards mom during the time he saw them together.
Hahahaha omg arm chair psychologist yet again pretending to understand something they have no actual idea about, Thank you for this laugh I needed it.
You'd think the bear was the villain with how creepy he was. But nope. He's a good bear. He's just creepy lookin.
Fun fact: The bear was originally the villian. It's possible he was designed to be a villian, but then got a changed role and the devs kept the model the same to change time.

The one game that brought H20 Delirious and Teddy Bear together
Just like in real life they try to portray the father has the bad guy, if it was the father who was the one drinking the child would have been instantly ripped away but since it's the mother god forbid taking the child away from the mother and the dad is treated as the second class parent. In the end the dad gets the custody over the child as implied by the dlc ending
Wtf there a dlc I hella don't remember that
This is a sad reality in our world where the mother is always looked at as the good parent but some (based on existing videos) are as neglectful and abusive as the bad dads are.

Cool story bro
If anything, I think the mother tends to drink because she feels neglected by Justin working all the time and leaving her alone to raise the kid, not so much active abuse
yooooooooooooooo new vid nowadays i just be waiting to see you drop a new vid to watch
I get that she's the villian, but in her defense if he beat her, he's more than likely abusive and will end up beating the child lol. I get that he's the best thing the child has ( because he doesn't know him) but he really isn't the hero in this game, this game has no hero.
most people believe that hes actually taking a bottle of booze from the mom
but most people directly think that hes beating her
It's difficult to say, we don't have context for that slap from the DLC.

I love how you tell the story and explain details etc. Great work!
I really like your videos, keep it up!
Ayy, thank you for making this. I suggested this like few weeks ago, very good theory.
It doesn't always have to be like that
I agree. Thank you for explaining it. I wish I could, but I know what will happen. They'll all bombard me, lol.
And it isn’t like that in the story
Sad
Damn😢
I don't think it's a coincidence that the father showed up with this heavenly ass light right after the mom hits the child.
you bring up a good point
Mmm didn't thought of that, interesting 🤔

The outro is making me lose it w the dubstep over this poor kid getting slapped 😭😭
i love horror video games, and my mom is emotionally abusive and controlling, using things like money and family to control me. its just as bad as any domestic abuse. feeling scared to live day to day, seeing her as different people, risking being manipulated and mentally beat up, is terrible. and takes even longer to heal than physical beatings, as in i don’t think i’ll ever fully recover. it’s so tru that mothers can be demonic. most stories say it’s only the father but mothers can hurt u even worse because people don’t see the pain mothers cause. this game has a very important message and it’s why i live these video games
Thanks for sharing. Hope you recover. 🤗
Do games like these help you in any way?
I remember watching people play this game years ago, thank you!
Honestly, I think both the parents r wrong it doesn't matter how u view it if you think the after beating the mom because she was drinking is right u need help it u see a person drinking and they can't control themselves u need to find them help you hitting a person that already needs help isn't helping the situation and the last part where the father finally sees his child made it seem like a good thing but it's really not I like the only reason the baby even saw the father as his savior was because he wasn't the one being abused by him the mom was but take the mom out of the picture and he is next in line to be getting abused
fun fact the dad never beat the mom he kept a bottle of alchohol away from her
@@larsthememelord3383 I am here with ya about this opinion
The thing about the dad is that he was a workaholic while he and the mom were married which made her feel neglected which drove her to start drinking, something that became a huge problem as she became an alcoholic after a while, something he probably didn’t noticed due to working all the time and not before it was too late and the two were essentially calling off the marriage where the mother was given custody of the child due to the court system actually favoring the mothers when it came to handling who should have custody over the child as it’s been proven that babies are more attached to their mothers than their fathers which would obviously affect the decision making process.
those knocking sounds really got me tho
I remember watching this when I was little with my older sister. Giving me very morbid nostalgia
Morbius
I think we can all collectively agree that neither of his parents deserves custody of this poor poor child.
Yep 18:42 that is one interesting hand shaped booze bottle, Jesus you are a blind imbecile
I'm one of the few people along with many others that it was implied the Husband was trying to protect his son from his drunken wife or so.
Your one of the few imbeciles that believe abuse is a good way to defend a child instead of grabbing the child and leaving the house. Got it.
when your guardian is angry and sad the room dont feel good and even the simple thing that use to make you happy change , this can shape the kid future alot
Where are the grand parents in this situation, and I hope the 2 year old gets better
Probably dead
I always thought the man at the door was likely the grandfather.
Not an abusive father..why do you keep pushing that.. .he's stopping her from drinking.
YPU ARE CORRECT!!! The father IS NOT ABUSIVE! The video host/uploader is WRONG!!!
When I saw a let's play of this I was one of the most terrifying game I had ever seen. Even before I learned of its theme of abuse.
I need to see superhorrorbro and this guy work together one day lol
Either way the only thing ill add is that developpement starts back up so we can get a among the sleep two maybe showing more light to the parents story
i agree this game needs a sequel badly
That’s it another great video. I’m subscribing.
I'm not gonna lie: I think he might of only hit her because she was drunk with the kid, or if he was working more, she cheated. It's more like: the dad isn't perfect, but clearly he's the better parent. You shouldn't hit women, but it's not always absolutely no reason.
There was no reason for him to hit her. There is no justification to hitting her.
@@antithoughtpolice7497 there isn’t anything to understand lol he wasn’t in the right period. And that doesn’t happen all the time. Even when it does, why do you think it happens??? The patriarchy is to blame for immediately thinking women of being motherly when in actuality they neglect their children.
@@antithoughtpolice7497 we couldn’t assume he’s a better parent because we don’t see much of him. The things we DO see of him is hitting someone. Which isn’t good whether it be parenting or a relationship. You sound nuts.
@@antithoughtpolice7497 the mom has never actually hurt her child though. She pushed him and had yelled at him a few times but never actually hit him like the dad hit her.
@@antithoughtpolice7497 never said he was better with his mom. But he isn’t better off with his dad that HITS his mom. Why do you think she drinks dumb dumb. Idc abt ur friend. Use common sense.
The child might know that something isn’t right at home with the commentary teddy says about how “somethings wrong”.
wah. i remember how things were different in the past like you had to put the items in this pot thingy, close the door on it and spin a wheel instead of just putting it in a tube like in this video. and also when the boy has teddy's arm and you put it in this bear head hole. ah how the games have been changed 😌
7:21 That literally scared me so bad and I jumped.
If some people are wondering, the mother will almost always get the child if they get a divorce, even if she herself was abusive.
(I think that is horrible)
I wonder why that is 💀
Not true, if the dad fights for custody, men win primary about 62% of the time, they just don't pursue custody more often than women
@@megbeck5918 lets see the source for your claim.
I remember watching the walkthrough for this game years ago.
Agh i love this game and still think about it occasionally, thank you for covering it!!
Amazing video although it scared the shit out of me when the door knocking started I hate wearing headphones sometimes XD
This is so sad 😞 how could she hurt her own child
amazing video as always, you actually make me want to play this one
the knocking scared the life out of me because theres a closet to my right
So the father is abusive to the wife and apparently the child being with the father is apparently better? This kid needs to be with a different person, not the mother or father.
Well I mean the father seems like a nice guy so he might raise him better then the mother since she was you know.
That kid smarter than Einstein.
The well story that teddy also reads in the beginning could be fore shadowing! I took the memory chambers as the kid sacrificing their childhood memories due to trauma as a way to realize/notice
Wow. It’s pretty sad that both of his parents are honestly not good for him. And the child can’t really understand that.
my personal family was a lot like this same thing with Dad and a little bit like Mom my mother was not fit to take care of me because she was living with her sister and me and my brother were also there two dogs and my aunt's husband so I stayed with my grandparents for a 3-4 years but now she's gotten a lot better and soon I'll be back with her
Your videos are the best!!
How many times have you said "the child" in this video
finally a video where gamersailt and superhorrorbro dont have different explanations of the story lol!
Yo didn't anyone else noticed they change the way to get through the memories door?
still remember this game after almost 10 years
Hi Really like ur content think you should do more puppet combo games
Hint:🐰🗡🥚
Actually the way it's depicted seems to suggest that it's not the father. But a social security worker who was dealing with the family and trying to resolve the abuse. Theres never mention of the father suggesting he left, or just isn't around anymore
I loved to watch people play this as a kid
But now i get the story
I have a theory that the father put an Walkie Talkie in teddy becouse he got worried about the mother alcohol abuse and he wanted to make sure the kid wasen’t harmed that’s why he arrived to get the kid afther that night when he realized that the mother did abused him and he stepped in when it become physical , that’s why teddy guided him when the kid got scared , the mom realized it and tried to take away the teddy but she melted down realizing that he got all the evidence that he needed to take the kid from her care
OMG the knocking on the door got me so bad. I just started my husband awake while watching.
Coryxkenshin played that game!⚔️
Bro that knocking legit scared me at 7:20 with headphones
could u do hello charlotte: requiem aeternam deo? its an rpgmaker psychological horror and theres tons of symbolism, there's not much content explaining the story of it online
