Has no one else noticed the parallels to how Alabama won their back to back championships? When bama did it back in 2012, they barely scraped by Georgia in the SEC championship before demolishing Notre Dame in the national championship. In both cases, the real national championship happened before the actual event itself, much like the playoff game between Ohio State and Georgia this year. Both games came down to the wire and were incredible battles, and then the winners went on to blowout inferior competition in the actual championship game.

During the regular season TCU only played 4 teams that finished with a winning record and lost to one of them. Everyone else was 6-6 or below. If you include all of the Bowl games 5 of TCUs opponents this season actually finished the year with LOSING records and another was an FCS team.

TCU won a lot of their games by the “skin of their teeth.” Their defense was bad, and Duggan was the only thing keeping them in the game. Kansas State exposed their weaknesses, and Georgia fully exploited them.
Just for the record, until the SEC championship Georgia was knocked for ever possible thing that they could be criticized for. AP and CFP wanted to put anyone else at #1 but in the end they had no choice. Georgia proved that they are the undisputed best team in the country.
I had meant to DVR this game before I left for work but forgot. Fortunately, it looks like didn't miss much. When I saw the notification on my phone of the final score about 11pm, I was shocked. I thought Georgia might win by a few touchdowns, but not a total demolition like that. Yikes! At least the CFB Semifinal games were good.

i think the biggest talent disparity was shown by the o-line and d-line play of georgia. they were just so much larger and more physical up front stetson bennett had a day and a half to think who he wanted to throw to.

Expanding the playoff will mean more SEC vs SEC Natties. There's gonna be a lot of buyer's remorse when that happens. If the playoff had expanded already this year, it would have been Bama vs GA again in the Natty.
The talent will be spread out among all the SEC and B1G teams when the new tv deals kick in and unionization and college player salaries become a reality.
IN 2 YEARS, Stetson Bennett has gone from a 23 year old trying as a walk-on to even make a D1 college roster with Georgia's coaches advising him to give up from lack of talent, to quarterbacking back-to-back national championships and likely getting drafted into the NFL. Add in the fact he's from Georgia and had wanted to quarterback the Bulldogs since early childhood, and this story is a legit movie. Even if he's a backup in the NFL, minimum rookie salary in the NFL starts at $705,000 a year. Hold a backup gig for 4 or 5 years and he's a multimillionaire. Not to mention 101 opportunities in Georgia and beyond from his legendary status now. This dude just showed the world what can happen if you never give up on your dreams.

This TCU team wasn't as good as their 2010 and 2014 teams (the 2014 team annihilated Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl). The fact that they just kept winning this year really did defy the odds.
How do you end up with a mismatch like this in the championship? I mean we've seen championship routs before where one of the teams is just shook or something, but even if TCU was firing on all cylinders there was no chance for this one to be a competitive game.
When they made it 7 to 10 I thought maybe I would be in for a classical night like so many other years. But after the score went up 2 or so minutes prior to half I was already getting ready for bed. Knew the result then and there. As nice as it is to recognize a record I also think its important to atleast find a metric system that can properly assign the 4 best teams a spot in the playoffs as to prevent a stomping like this lol..
As a Dawgs fan I totally commend TCU for their year. They won the proper games to be there. I am glad we won, but it definitely should be more about the disparity of recruiting classes rather than whether TCU deserved to be in the game or not. If they didn't deserve it, Michigan should've won. (although what is a targeting call these days?) The argument is that someone else deserved to be in the game. Who? TCU made it to the championship game with no 5 star players and a less than a handful of 4 stars. Kudos to them to making it that far

During the regular season TCU only played 4 teams that finished with a winning record and lost to one of them. Everyone else was 6-6 or below. If you include all of the Bowl games 5 of TCUs opponents this season actually finished the year with LOSING records and another was an FCS team.

TCU won a lot of their games by the “skin of their teeth.” Their defense was bad, and Duggan was the only thing keeping them in the game. Kansas State exposed their weaknesses, and Georgia fully exploited them.
TCU defense struggled all year gave up 29.0 points per game and ranked 91st in defense going into into the game
The formation they run on defense is garbage. 3 defensive linemen wont cut it.

Just for the record, until the SEC championship Georgia was knocked for ever possible thing that they could be criticized for. AP and CFP wanted to put anyone else at #1 but in the end they had no choice. Georgia proved that they are the undisputed best team in the country.
I had meant to DVR this game before I left for work but forgot. Fortunately, it looks like didn't miss much. When I saw the notification on my phone of the final score about 11pm, I was shocked. I thought Georgia might win by a few touchdowns, but not a total demolition like that. Yikes! At least the CFB Semifinal games were good.

i think the biggest talent disparity was shown by the o-line and d-line play of georgia. they were just so much larger and more physical up front stetson bennett had a day and a half to think who he wanted to throw to.

This TCU team wasn't as good as their 2010 and 2014 teams (the 2014 team annihilated Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl). The fact that they just kept winning this year really did defy the odds.

When they made it 7 to 10 I thought maybe I would be in for a classical night like so many other years. But after the score went up 2 or so minutes prior to half I was already getting ready for bed. Knew the result then and there. As nice as it is to recognize a record I also think its important to atleast find a metric system that can properly assign the 4 best teams a spot in the playoffs as to prevent a stomping like this lol..
As a Dawgs fan I totally commend TCU for their year. They won the proper games to be there. I am glad we won, but it definitely should be more about the disparity of recruiting classes rather than whether TCU deserved to be in the game or not. If they didn't deserve it, Michigan should've won. (although what is a targeting call these days?) The argument is that someone else deserved to be in the game. Who? Michigan got beat by TCU, Ohio state couldn't beat Michigan, everyone else had 2 losses. Who else won the appropriate games to be in that final? Hats off to TCU. Sorry the recruiting isn't there.
