  • DIY : Learn How to make a dark sensor using LDR (Light Dependent Resistor) and Operational amplifier (op-amp LM358). This circuit can be use in street light. Low light automatically trigger the output high.
    LDR is a light-controlled variable resistor. The resistance of a photo-resistor decreases with increasing incident light intensity.

    Component Used-
    1. Op-amp LM358 IC
    2. LDR Sensor
    3. 1k ohm and 10k ohm Resistor
    4. LED
    5. Buzzer
    6. 9v battery
    7. Breadboard
    8. Single Core jumper Wire.

    Can you please explain the technical working of the circuit?

    • @richardnanis
      @richardnanis 6 лет назад +3

      He uses the opamp as a simple comparator in open loop configuration. So, when the non-inverting input of the Opamp is slightly higher than the reference voltage at the inverting input, the output will go high driving the led and the buzzer. For the non-inverting input to be higher than the ref. input it means that the LDR resistance has gone higher and that means its darker. So when its getting dark (adjustable by the little trim pot) the output goes high and lights up the led. Only drawback here: the Opamps output can max. drive about 20 mA - so just enough for the little led. If you need more current, just put a transistors base at the output of the opamp and use it as an amplifier or better as a switch here in common emitter config that means put the emitter to ground and the load (led, buzzer) between collector and Vcc.
