    For anyone curious about the movie puzzle but not wanting to wait until the end, the clue is “Iron Threat Met” and it released in 1984. I will respond to this comment with the answer if you can’t solve it.

      @@nitrorev In the majority of cases, it does work in the Cats' favour. It allows them to wait until their turn to evaluate *all* of their warrior losses from the previous round, and pick the most efficient one(s) to spend their cards on. (The digital game helpfully gives the options with the most warriors at stake first.) Under the board game rules, they might spend a card to FH a single warrior, and then be unable to use that card to rescue multiple warriors later in the round.
      The only time it works against the Cats is if their warriors are removed in a non-Keep clearing, and then the Keep is attacked later in the round but before the Cats' turn, denying them the ability to use the earlier losses to reinforce the Keep.

    Yo! Nitrorev! I’ve interacted with your channel a few times and I NEVER expected this!
    I am Big Chimpin! I was the cats this game. I’ll share some thoughts because I figure you’d be interested.
    Firstly, I was in voice chat with the vagabond this game. We weren’t teaming up or anything, just shootin’ the shit/talking about different scenarios in Root. I would love to have you join our sessions! Anyways, I think you might be wrong at 0:50. The vagabond did exhaust a crossbow (which I field hospital’d) and then a sword (which I also field hospital’d) in the bottom right clearing. In VC he was saying that he wanted to ‘milk’ my cards so I couldn’t field hospital in the future. He then aided me because I had two or three items crafted.
    But I think the larger- and more interesting- point is *why* I went for a dominance. The round before the one you showed, the birds immediately became a threat. they crafted one or two items and scored a lot of points. They had nearly a 10-point swing. I think I even said “new threat alert” or something of the ilk.
    I was prepared to stomp on the birds (who was >10pts ahead of both of us). But you spread your sympathy in that bottom bunny clearing w/ my two buildings, and then another in the mouse clearing w/ my two buildings. I COULDN’T let those sympathy sit and still win the game. I felt like I had no other option BUT to play the dominance, because the birds were going to win. I got lucky and was able to use field hospital 4 times (2 from vagabond and 2 from you).
    I’ve played >50 games of root and this has been my favorite win yet. It’s my only dominance win. It was a blast! You know how hit-or-miss root digital is, and it is rare when you have some competitive (let alone competent) players. This whole game, the vagabond and I were talking about how competitive this game is… the WA and ED were making the “best” moves. And it happened to be you!

    • @BigChimpin1
      @BigChimpin1 2 года назад +1

      I got lucky because:
      1) the whole game I had a bunny dominance card I was planning on playing. It wasn’t until the round before I played the mouse dominance in which I acquired that card.
      2) the last card in my hand was used to field hospital the last warrior. That bird card was the aid action given to me by the vagabond.
      Those points aside, thanks for uploading this! I am elated I was able to see my favorite win, ever! I hope to play with you sometime in the future!

    • @BigChimpin1
      @BigChimpin1 2 года назад +1

      But I wanna ask this!:
      The round before the one you showed, I was gearing up to punch the birds and probably throw them into turmoil. I was geared to do so, but you spread sympathy into my bottom bunny and middle mouse clearing. I couldn’t check the birds and let those sit, so I instead pivoted altogether and played my dominance.
      Had I not had the dominance card, my best path towards victory would have been removing the sympathy you spread. I couldn’t let those sit. And the Eerie would’ve probably won on points before then! Because the eerie only went into turmoil because they had to forfeit their turn and ruin my dominance.
      Why did you spread into my clearings rather than the eerie? I understand that you may not remember your thoughts, but I also believe you may have known something that I hadn’t!

      @@BigChimpin1 Hey! I'm so glad you found the video. I really appreciate your in-depth comments and it's always interesting to hear the thoughts of another player who you were playing against.
      Yes, you're right, the Vagabond did try to remove your pieces to lower the threshold of your rule but I left that part out of the video because it was already getting longer than I wanted. I just felt like giving the VB some credit for the move😁
      I definitely underrate Dominance and it's a weakness of my play that I need to get over because I never look for it and have difficulty planning around it. I should make more attempts but I'm very comfortable as cats in a pure scoring race. This was such a satisfying game and I completely agree that all 4 players were strong which is like striking gold when you join anonymous games.
      My reason for spreading to you and not the birds is that the Despot is very good at farming sympathy tokens and I didn't want them to get easy points from me since I didn't have an ambush at the time. Spreading to you meant that I could potentially get more outrage if the birds came after me and there was perhaps more spread potential to the right.
      Would love to play more games with you. Are you using Discord? Hit me up, I'm on Woodland Warriors.

      Once I revolted, the cats player would have been able to use Field Hospitals and I can't take it back because they've revealed a card in response to my action. I definitely wouldn't have used Propaganda Bureau though and that made all the difference.

    • @vgrezende

      It's the biggest drawback of the Digital version IMO and why I stopped playing it altogether. DW Digital just ignores the fact that they changed a major rule in the game and has been silent about it for more than a year.

    • @mtrybu

      @@vgrezende I don't think this is the case - I'm pretty sure they said this rule change was implemented to facilitate asynchronous play. Great video! I'm surprised the Birds turmoiled. They were rather unlucky that establishing rule over the Keep clearing required them to put bunny cards in both Recruit and Move, and so they couldn't put a mouse card in Move to shift two warriors from the north-central mouse clearing onto the bunny clearing to the right, and Build there.
    In hindsight, could they not have put a bunny and a mouse in Move instead, and then moved enough warriors from the top two clearings, to both Build in the bunny clearing and rule over the NE mouse clearing? That also would have prevented the Cats from winning with field hospital.

  • @cimoa

    the problem is the timing with field hospital, if its a real table game, i think the marquise will instantly spend cards to field hospital then you might realized that you can't give him anymore field hospital chance, but because this is a digital game, i think the marquise is given option before his turn
    but tbh real question, is this how field hospital should work? they do that before his actual move?

    • @nitrorev
      @nitrorev  2 года назад

      Yeah exactly. I guess the Field Hospitals timing is not part of the cats turn for purposes of buying from otters, dominance checks or cards like Saboteurs. It makes sense because the Field Hospital's uses in this case would have been before their turn but it's awkward now that there's an invented timing window that doesn't exist as part of the actual rules.

  • @zxccxz164

    In Steam digital game, do they have a SUMMARY of which faction controls which clearings? That would seem to an easy addition to the PLAYER tiles on the side of the board. I find it takes to much time to summarize manually after each move, particularly with colors that are hard to differentiate for some players (me)

    • @nitrorev
      @nitrorev  Год назад

      The little flag on the clearing tells you who rules that clearing. It matches the faction's colour so it would be blue if Eyrie rules it and green of woodland alliance ruled it. I don't know what else they'd need to add that wouldn't make the UI more clunky. Once you understand how rule works, it's a pretty fast process to scan the map for who rules which clearings and you can quickly count how many buildings and warriors are in a clearing which tells you how many warriors you'd need to bring if you wanted to rule.
