I remember as a young American soldier, sitting with a legless German WW2 veteran on a out door heating vent on a side walk in Frankfurt about 1968, playing my harmonica, helping him to beg for money. I never knew him, but this song takes me back there, it reminds me of better times and better times for me was always helping when I could. Nothing else in life is so vivid. Nothing more precious.
It was one of my favourite as a little child. Now I understand the lyricks and it's so amazing 4 me. Simple, but beautiful. Santa Maria pray for us! :_(

@fnd111 they made a huge success here in Europe in the 90's, they accually left the US because they became more successful here. Later on they got plenty of offers from States but they refused because they did not want to become a "money-making -machine", music is what matters the most to them. They tasted the fame but they are all glad this hectic period is over. :-) Btw., most of them still perform. :-)
Their parents were from America. They moved to Spain with 3 children and had 9more who were born in different countries, Spain, Ireland, Germany...they lived and travelled all over Europe singing. After the parents died they sang together for a while then took solo careers. Several are still singing...
The Kelly Family is an American Band. But then they going to spain and some children where born there. Paddy in Ireland. Today many of the Kellys live in Germany and speak german wery well, because they live here since 20 years or so. Paddy Kelly live in france and is now a monk.
