The Alfa Romeo Giulia saloon marks a welcome return to brilliance from the Italian car marker. It’s no longer a model you buy with heart not head, as it offers a broad range of abilities - both practical and performance-related - that makes it a true rival for cars like the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4. It’s comfortable, spacious, feels well built and is very good to drive.

It looks NOTHING like the Veyron
Alfa Romeo, the nicest brand in automotive world.
It all comes down to personal preference imo , but yes , they stepped up their game.
Alfa Romeo is more of a Acquired taste.Thats why certain people who have driven alot of them like Clarkson love them to death :)
yes until you buy one - so many problems
Agis Alsatian Ah bless, Rip Van Winkle has woken up from 1972. It’s 2019 friend and it’s a very different world nowadays. The Alfa factory in Cassini and their production processes make their competitions facilities in Stuttgart and Munich look like something out of the Flintstones!
The silver really takes away from the car. I've never been a huge fan of red, but on the Alfa, I think it's a winner.
i dont understand why people dont like James Batchelor, he does a good job at reviewing cars and he may not be as entertaining as Matt (sorry James :p) but he does his job right
Yea, I think he's alright
I have to admit that at first found him a teeny wee bit grating, but I think he is actually a very good reviewer, it's weird how he doesn't appear to be openly bias toward any one make, it is very matter of fact and though he cannot be overtly critical due to the nature of this channel, he does appear to be non-sycophantic toward those big brands and I do go back to some of his reviews, especially now as I am thinking of a getting a company car.
Giosue Gerini I agree a lot
well there you go, you're the problem
You sure you want others to judge you by your accent? He speaks naturally, just not with an American accent and his voice is a little squeakier than Mat Watson's.
The styling of this car seems to be more the work of gods than actual car designers. IT REALLY IS THAT GOOD!!
Josh Bacon looks like maserati ghibli even stelvio looks like levante
"The things inside don't fall apart literally" Funny , but I have had an Alfa !!
I love this car
One of the very best reviews on the Alfa Romeo Giulia I have seen...Great job and very informative
I think it's beautiful. Best looking cars on the road.
James your about the best reviewer around, and even if you're not as easy on the eyes as Ginny,I'll still buy you a pint and talk cars. Great work as ever, mate.
My friend drives an all black of this car with red leather interior and we be zooming and i can say the alfa is one of the nicest sedans ever
spectacular.
love the car!
nice jacket btw 👍
I've owned this very car since December 2019 !!...........it's superb, absolutely no problems at all. A wonderful car, excellent drive and turns heads wherever I go........
Those leaves stuck on the front grill really bugs me........
first guy who can say quadrifoglio (quadrofolio)
...yeah, but it's an Alfa, it's beautiful, and I want one!!
I love how british reviewers keep bringing up the Jaguar models and so far i've barely seen one on the road. All other reviewers from other countries never mention them because they're irrelevant. The XE is the worst of them, it looks like a 90ies mondeo, especially from the back.
I'm italian but actually I don't despise jaguars, I find them very refined and cool, so "british". However, the brand has not success in my country
I agree. First time I heard the Jag drives better than the Giulia. The 1.5 litres of water he drank is clouding his judgement.
@@anthonydecesare1086 the xe is pretty special.
Car Buyer.. What is going on with the quality of your videos in terms of audio and visual.? The last two videos have been a shameful example of was has always been a brilliant and professional looking car review channel.
Good review James, be interesting to see if Alfa can grab a bit of the exec saloon market with this. However its a crowded and competitive sector and I am not sure what the Giulia's USP is, apart from style perhaps. It will also be interesting to see if they can shake of the patchy support from the dealer network (in the UK) which arguably is just as important in growing the brand. Lastly, have they built a durable product ? - I have a Brera and a lot of these cars (and the 159) are failing their MOTs due to corrosion on the subframes. That's not something you would expect on a 6-7 year old car from any maker these days !
Not sure which 3 series BMW HR refers to in this review but having driven the petrol and 2.2L Diesel Giulia I can say both were more responsive, dynamic and exciting to drive than either the BMW, Audi ( better quality cabin, console). Waiting for the 280PS Petrol Giulia Veloce to hit the roads now....
Great review James, I feel that you come across far more impartial than that other guy on Carwow :P Keep up the good work, really enjoy your reviews.
So far owned Alfa 8 months....Own it
*quiet
God this car is really gorgeous! It looks good inside and out! But WHY ISNT THERE A WAGON... :D come on Alfa... Europeans will love it!
Luckily they improved the quality, hopefully they won't fall apart
danI43541 you have the Stelvio.
BokiXI yeah but it looks a bit different (it's beautiful too haha) bug you know a wagon is something different :D but yeah the Stelvio is the practical one and Alfa denied that there will be a wagon...
What's with the audio in this video? Clipping at the boot segment and then plain bad (lots of ambient noise) in some interior takes.
what's wrong with the audio?
I dont' know if it was the mic, but while driving it seemed really noisy
its the mic, they could have chose a better one
"Now if you've liked this review, make sure you Like it..."
The more you know........
sounds varied from really good to quite bad..
The buttons are supposed to flick left and right... it’s how you fast forward songs and go back/forth on the infotainment center
I’d bloody well hope I wasn’t “that disappointed” after spending 40k.
Right about the interior quality tho James.
Why would you need that big bottle of water😀good review👍
when is Alfa Romeo producing the Alfetta..? the Alfa Romeo cars are still gorgeous. tq bro..
Why do you sit so close to the steering wheel?
It's not an executive saloon. Executive saloons are E class and 5 class and such
Car looks great, the price is a bit lower then the Bmw and Audi in our country.
lol sound at 4:44
I miss my 159 :(
He loves the dainty steering wheel...
Forza Alfa
nice audio in 2017!!!!
This car can impress young buyers ...
That wind and tire noise OMG...Otherwise it seems pretty nice.
Why in most of the car reviews they have to waste time showing how the rear seats fold? All cars do the same thing, who cares. Nobody will make a decision based on such a common thing. Do something different for God sake.
Jose C. It's pretty important if you regularly carry larger loads. Nice to see an example as in some cars the feature is there but is unusable.....
I drove one today and the dials by the stick weren't like that
I don't know.. Of course it is good looking, but i expected sth better. After 147 and 159, I do not see dramatic design improvement. Plus, even if they belong to same family, Aegea (Tipo) and Giualia look so similar. It is an advantage for Aegea but disadvantage for Giulia which is quite expensive...
thanks for the wonderful review
Wow OMG Beautiful CAR Alfa Romeo Giulia 🇮🇹🚘😎🙏👑🏆🔝
if the infotainment is better than bmw's i-drive, then its the best
Does mazda make this 2.2 engine?
Im sure its a Fiat made engine.
NikesZ28 for thier new 2 door roadisters they use mazda mx5 parts so thats why i though they might have gone to mazda for that engine :)
Nice looking car better looking than some of its rivals and you don't see loads on the road, more kerb appeal !!!
Sexy looking !!
Can't decide between this and Jaguar XE...
Which one u chose ?
Definitely Alfa...Alfa anyway 😉😉😉
the car looks beautiful in silver
1:41 … did anyone ever think you’d hear those words?
If we only had a manual... Everyone killing the driver's car these days.
Can they guess it’s a Honda? Lets whisper really loud so the microphone can pick us up...
The audio quality is terrible.
Come on guys let us comment on the honda sponsored video...it's obviously a honda..come on it's so safe i think it's a volvo😂😂😂😂
do your DD on this car - the car is fast, nice but after sales service is not existent - no one cares if you have any issues and is not interested in any type of follow up - not one dealership - the market will die if this keeps going
Really James?? You buy alfa romeo with diesel engine??
holy shit.. is he wearing a Rolex at 1:33???
so what? is he not allowed to walk into waitrose either?
What does that mean? 😂
No - it's an Omega Seamaster Professional.
yes ,i. borrowed it to him , it’s mine
I wish reviewers would stop referencing German cars. They aren't as good as people perceive them to be.
👊
To be honest, he sits waay to close to the steering wheel. The airbag will most likely hurt him rather then save him in a crash.
front is nice. the rest looks bland. maybe it's RUclips. look forward to seeing it in person
definitely better in person
but the price isn't though lol
Problem being carbuyer are driving customers away for someone who hasn't moved on since the 90s they need to admit this bloke just doesn't cut it :/
Quentin Wilson wannabe lol
Could it look any more like an a4 from the rear?
i'll be annoyingly picky. the Alfa was presented the 24th of june 2015 , the Audi the 29th...technically the audi copied the alfa (i am self aware that this is just an annoying statement and nobody copied nobody...probably)
Where are the crispssss😜?
This guy sitting so close to the wheel annoys me everytime.
After having 3 BMW's, currently driving an F11, I still can't understand why all reviewers are praising the iDrive and calling it intuitive. It is as intuitive as a Linux computer or an Android phone. I hate it every day.
BokiXI
Are you kidding? My 5 yr old can use iDrive - it's a breeze to use!
it's both horrible and the best on the market. Which says a lot about auto infotainment systems.
BokiXI I'm having a similar experience with Audi's MMI system... praised by the press as one of the easiest and most intuitive ... well, it's not. Yes you get used to it and things get better once you practice a bit, but still I wouldn't call it easy or intuitive... not surprised it's the story with BMWs...
It's a beautifully refined carrolla and you might think that's bad.....but I love it
Da prendere solo con cambio manuale
To drive in the left side of the road.......how strange!
Good job James, getting better and better IMO. Haters will hate.
I do love this car, but at that price I wouldn't take risks. Alfa did a good job but I reckon sales won't be very good.
Diego Mendi The price starts at £29/30K not £40k as he seems to infer in his video www.alfaromeo.co.uk/alfa-romeo-world/passion/alfa-news/2016/alfa-romeo-giulia-pricing-announced
midnightbazaar he means £40k with the options
Skittish ride? Runflats!
Over £40 grand ?! You MUST be having a laugh !
They start at £29,000 or £30,000 for Diesel think he's seriously trying to discourage anyone to buy one with wrong facts!
He was referring to the one he was driving as dearly stated, has the performance option, alloy wheels and the more powerful diesel.
it's been created by Maserati and Ferrari's people
£29k ???,,, fucking hell, lol!!
it’s worth 50k
Why do alfa insist on cheap shit interiors?
Do they think nobody will notice, Do they think they have something to gain.
This harms their reputation, wich sells less cars.
They still refuse to learn that if THEY invest in quality the people will invest in their cars.
This will make a win-win situation, and alfa will prosper.
THIS IS EXACTLY THE REASON THE GERMANS HAVE GROWN GLOBALLY.
i own an alfa 156 2001
This car is not for everyone
Diesel will be the default choice!? It's an alpha! There shouldn't be a diesel version at all
Hey
sound sucks
why does he SIT SO CLOSE to the steering wheel looks like an auld wan driving
haha, just watched car buyer Honda video comes after this video. No wonder they disabled comments and likes. i haven't seen such a pathetic add video in a long time
wow, that Quadrifoglio pronunciation is the worst I've ever heard
It's not that horrible, but british people usually have a hard time pronouncing italian names.
haha I'm italian, for once I can tell you that italian word is pronounced in the wrong way. But I know English people can't say "gl" sound :)
British, or lets say english speaking people have often problems to pronounciate other words than english words
But your Italians are so proud of your language, so that you don't want to speak other language than italian. Isn't it so?
I don't think that's the reason. We lack of language education in school. We used to study French not so long ago. (I don't even know if what I wrote makes sense)
You should fire the guy, who set up this TERRIBLE audio recording!
Unsubscribed
good
beautiful car... pity tests like this ruin it.
I feel sorry for Europeans that just can't experience big time American muscle cars....Snappy aint the word...
that wasn't what I was thinking, I was wondering where Matt is he should be the only one doing these reviews
nice car but I would only buy one if I won the lottery.
Peter Sothern Why?
BOOMDEAD Games because as soon as you buy one you lose 20 grand
so true, alfa romeo loses value faster than any car brand
WTF?? Another Giulia review?!??
it’s the only review on this car
after owning an alfa 159 2.2 jts,i would never go near ever again.stay away from them.they are only trouble.no reliability,no practicality.horrible machines.i went for the looks and paid the price.you dont have to.
john john I've owned two 159's and a Brera. 2.2, 2.4 diesel and 3.2 q4. I have never had any trouble.
Guus,i know the lure of the Alfas.that is why i had one mysele.you are the only person on the net that supports them.i cant believe you have had not trouble but hey i am not getting into a did ,did not arguement.i feel i need to tell the people that italian cars and specially Alfas, are not reliable or practical.maybe others here can comment also.
john john honestly, I didn't have any issues what so ever. Practicality isn't that great on the 159 and especially the Brera. But that didn't bother me to much. Walking into a parking lot and seeing my Brera parked next to a Golf made me feel like I made the right choice. Maybe I was lucky, I can only talk about my own experiences.
Yes indeed, I would like to see some more comments on this!
point taken Guus.hope you have a fantastic time with your Alfas.i am not here to wish bad on your cars.would be nice to get a feedback from other drivers.take care.
@@johnjohn-ig6rd You would be surprised that in a 2018 study Alfa Romeo Giulia was placed third with 96.9% score. Only 17% of cars had a fault, most were minor, such as issues with the air-con, brakes and exterior lights (all 4%).
Well this guy is just fabulous isn't he
One thing I don't get why buy it new, wait 3 years be worth £12-15k
You could say the same about absolutely anything
MRFUCKOFF202 except houses :)
True lol
Lol
Probably about 5 years for this pricey devill
Dull.
you can't be more than 4"8"
dead serious this is the worst presenter ever
The Kia Optima is more appealing.
to a blind person...and even then no
