YES!!! You guys played it!! Woooo my favorite version of this song for sure. That is the most epic build up and explosion into a eargasmic double solo ever done live! And this version in particular with the pyrotechnics, 3 guitars and the guys jumping up and down just makes it so much more epic imho. Its the best version ive seen gives me f..ing goosebumps every single time! I honestly rewind it back to that part and into Adrians face melting solo 10 times everytime i listen to it lol. Out of all the songs by Iron Maiden I consider " rime of the ancient mariner " the best song ever. I've been a fan since the 80s. What i like about their songs is that every song is based an literature.
Live after Death version from 1980's is by far better than this version. Live after Death is Maiden's best live concert ever.
There are two big reasons why I watch this channel.
I copy that.

My favourite song from Maiden ever. It's epic, and the way it switches pace is brilliant, and it always gets me pumped up when riffs get heavy after the middle quiet section of the song. Great reaction guys, keep up the good work.

Yeah,the Live After Death footage is brilliant. I've seen Maiden many times over the years but for me they were at their absolute best on the Powerslave tour.
The pace on this version is too fast. Live After Death is better paced.
Bruce's voice is a bit whiny here.

We were junior high/high school metal heads, and Maiden was hitting their peak (early to mid eighties). What drew us was their epic songs based on the things were were studying - history, poetry, mythology. They were talented musicians, but masters at putting learning and metal together. Heavy and fun, but serious. That's Maiden in a nutshell to me.
Rumor is they are gonna play this on the second leg of the legacy of the beat tour !!!!
The reason some of the rhythm parts sound a bit off compared to normal, is because the "new" guitarist Janick Gears is not a tight as Dave Murray & Adrian Smith. And as a musician and Maiden listener going back to the 80's, I don't think the mistakes were mistakes. I think it was them giving a bit more edginess to the song, bringing the notes more forward on the beat.

When in my teens back in the early 1980s I mostly listened to film scores, classical and some rock courtesy of my older brother...I was in the back seat of a car out with some friends when I first heard Judas Priest - Hellion / Electric Eye for the first time!!
