I've watched faith running since primary school 14 yrs ago. I remember we nicknamed her "Poland" because she had represented kenya in youth championships in poland in standard 7. It's a joy to watch her winning all over again.

That first lap was stupidly fast for a women's 1500m, but it made the race absolutely spectacular to watch. Straight to the front and going well below 60 to blow apart the entire field, love it. And the strength of everyone in that lead pack to hold on off that opening pace.. I remember going out in 59 the first 400 in one of my 1500s and going lactic so badly my second 400 was a 69 lmao, a 43 first 300 is just nuts. Obviously I'm nowhere near the level of any of these women as a mere 4:0x 1500 guy but I can sort of relate to just how fast that pace feels.

I don’t think Faith wasn’t concerned about Gudaf. At this point I think she had one 5k prelim in her legs, but she’s still a dangerous competitor. Although, Gudaf ran a masterful race to a 1st in the 5k

I believe that was a clock error and it was more like 58 seconds in actuality. 55 would be way too fast, a fast lap for even the best men in the world and most likely faster than the first lap of an all out 800m for these women.
