Beatrice Chebet: "It's a privilege to run with her (Gudaf Tsegay)". That is the headline! As Kenyan, I teared up. Thanks Beatrice, thanks Gudaf. Together with our neighbours to the North, the Ethiopians, we have what I'd call a symbiotic relationship. Without them, there'd be no us (Kenya) and I hope the feeling is mutual. Last year (2023), on the same grounds, they ran the 5k and Gudaf broke the world record with Beatrice about 4 seconds adrift. These two are phenomenal! AWESOME!
Congratulations Chebet. You made us soooo proud back in Kenya. Big-up to our neighbors sister Gudaf, her push till the last two laps really set the title for Chebet. Hongera tena sana Chebet. Paris here we come
I wonder if the commentator didnt know chebet or was just outright trying to downplay chebet.. Chebet's 5000m pb is 14.05, a 2 time 10km world cross country champion... The 33 10000m time was run when she was just 19 years a few months after winning the u20 world cross country junior tittle and it was run in high altitude in kenya as a teenager
Chebet went from being an after-thought and honourable mention to deservedly grabbing the headlines as the best ever. She held her own with a resolve of steel and struck without a hint of hesitation what so ever. Caption this - Chebet miraculously reduced her PB by 5 minutes which is almost how much slower her PB was from that of the much-heralded and very capable Tsegay's PB before this race. Tsegay was therefore expected to lap Chebet a few times. On paper Chebet was no match for Tsegay nor was she remotely even a threat to the world record! But she confidently hung onto the champ's coat tails and went for glory with an expertly executed coup de grace. She outdid herself! Heroic feats like these are a privilege to behold! God bless the young lady! May she translate this feat to glory in Paris!!
You didn't see her winning the cross championships? I was not surprised at all. Already 15 min in the race it was obvious what will happen. Gudaf suffering, Beatrice in a smooth perfect flow.
Her 33 minutes pb was run in high altitude in Kenya at 19 years from 4 years ago what are you saying🤦♀️ Sinc then she has run 14.05 5000m, won some medals on the track for 5000m, won 2 high paced world cross country titles where she took down the former 10000m WR holder Gidey and sub 29 road 10k runners lol...
Chebet is a class, she is a great talented and experienced lady. Respect and congratulations. To our sister from great Ethiopia we really love you. Kenya and Ethiopia have been great friends and neighbors who have pushed each other to break limits
Congratulations To Beatrice Chebet For Becoming To Fastest Woman Athlete In The World At 10,000 Meters; Thus, Setting A New World Record And Making Your Home Country Kenya Very Proud!!!!!!!

Wonderful race. Tsegay is top notch. One sensed Chebet was gonna explode. And kudos to her for making the move when she did. She knew she had it; you don't draft beyond the point it is needed.
Originally from Ethiopia ..... Congratulations to Beatrice and to Kenya, well done. In the last few rounds it was clear she was in the better form. World class performance!
@@chegemaina9630 My apologies I was talking about myself when I said "originally from Ethiopia" sorry for the confusion... as you can tell English is not my first language.
AMAZINGLY crushing it! She's so relaxed, strong, and focus not letting Tsegay get away. Chebet resembles Faith Kipyegon a bit, doesn't she? Anyway, Congrats Ladies!! Chebet will make it happen again soon because that almost looks effortless for her.
Incredible performance by Chebet... improving her PB by 5minutes, cutting world record by 7 seconds and becoming the first athlete to break the 29 minutes barrier is nothing but a miraculous performance
@@kgb4194 As if we haven't seen Americans getting suspended or stripped off their meddles because of dopping. For your information, last year Kenya put very huge penalties for anyone found dopping. Probably you are just obsessed with anything American. Just hold on and wait for the truth.

Beatrice Chebet out smarted Gudaf Tsegay. Beatrice was “floating”, preserving energy, you could see that her focus on the race while Tsegay’s facial expression says something like “can I make it to the end “ . Once Beatrice Chebet sprinted from behind, Tsegay had no chance to follow her to close the gap and challenge her but finish the race. It would be interesting to see these two talented runners in the Paris Olympic.

Not sure the approach taken by the announcer is the best for the sport. Too much pressure on the runners and comments real time on the progress of the race don't sit well.
