FFXII is weird in that their technology is powered by magic, so they're not really medieval but they're still kingdoms and stuff. It's the same thing with FFVI. it has some steampunk elements, but it's still kingdoms. So I won't call it medieval.
I’d say it’s more 1-5: Medieval Fantasy 6-8: Steampunk, Mild Future 9: Medieval 10: Asian inspired balance of future & medieval 11-12: Medieval with slight technology 13: Sci-fi 14: Medieval with slight technology 15: Realism with Technology 16: Medieval Fantasy
Keep the hype as I saw info I know it will at least get to ff18 but I don't know my how much higher it will go but it was a long time ago I saw this in a magazine a long time ago before we even knew that Final Fantasy 10 was going to be a thing I didn't even believe it would be true but now I'm starting to think it might. FWIW, the tag line for FF9 was “the crystal returns” even though it wasn’t a huge part of the game.
