all in all, one of the best covers I've seen of this song. you matched the tone perfectly yet it was possible to differentiate the track and your guitar. nice playing and keep up the good work :D
Thanks for the massive compliment dude! The differentiating, is something I have worked a lot on, and it's good to hear that the work actually paid off! I will try!
Thanks and sorry :P The solo's on this album, don't excite me that much unfortunately. Which makes me rather wanna play the neat rhythm guitars James lay down. I'll consider it though for future ones.
You killed it, man. Hell, i might do a vocal cover when i practice it enough. The way I sing Metallica, its like a mix of Black Album and And Justice For All with a touch of Master of Puppets, but I don't do the "ahs" too obviously
Great work dude! Really clean overall, something funny, you play A LOT like me, the way you use your fingers and such, it's kinda weird lol, also nice guitar :D
Thanks a lot man! Oh, how so? Quite a bit of my "style" probably comes from my fingers being quite long. A Washburn WM17V, first guitar and never stopped loving it!
Thanks a lot! This song clicked with me from the second I heard it too! It has a very eerie/disturbing sound to it, which fits perfect with the lyrics and video itself!
the more you make, the more we will watch....ohhhh I know ive asked you before on another song a few days ago, but is this in E standard also? .....and I want to thank you for helping this old Metalhead to learn all these great Metallica songs...although ive been playing guitar now for 25 years, the urge to learn more never ends...\\m//
Thanks you :P The only thing I can "teach" you, is to practice, practice, practice!! And try to learn songs by ear, that helps your playing a lot in the end!
Hey TheMathMog93! I love the new album; Here Comes Revenge, Spit Out The Bone, Halo On Fire, Moth Into Flame and Dream No More are my favourite songs but I like all songs but Confusion (my absolute favorite is Moth Into Flame because of Its complexity and all the parts being amazing). What is your top 5/10?
My top 5 would probably be. 1: Spit Out The Bone 2: Here Comes Revenge 3: Dream No More 4: Moth Into Flame 5: Lords Of Summer (Though not a main-song on the disc)
TheMathMog93 ah yes the new version of lords of summer is really good, I always forget the song when I think of the album since it isn't on the main discs, but whenever I do remember it I see it as part of the album and its definetily on the better half of the songs
Thank you. About two years ago, I had to completely redo how I held my pick, making me start from almost scratch with my right hand. Glad it has paid off.
It kinda sounds like kirk playing two notes, like D and E on the two highest strings (15th on B and 12th on E) and then pulling up on the whammy bar. Haven't tried to replicate it, but that is my best guess.
Thanks man! Not planning to do so, as that would be very time consuming. Time I don't got a lot of unfortunately :P But there is a few tabs up on sites like ultimate-guitar. You can use those as reference, and then maybe just slow this video down? It was filmed at 50 fps, so even setting the speed to 0.5x, it will still run at 25 fps, giving room to see how the riffs go :)
Thanks a lot! I don't have any tabs for it. I learned it all by ear, and making tabs is quite timeconsuming, especially since I haven't made any in a long time. You can try slowing the video down to 0.5 though. It's filmed in 50 fps, so it should still be watchable, and an easier way to learn it :)
Yes it is, just in a different key. It's a minor third dyad (chord consisting of two notes. A powerchord is also a dyad). Minor third and Mayor third dyads can be very powerful in metal if used in a proper way :)
Indeed. A lot of guitar players in metal, don't try to move out of the comfort zone of only playing power-chords! There is a lot of beautiful dissonance in those chords, and a lot of others too!
yeah If I ever do my own music, I'll definately include this one it'so badass oh my god I remember learning Orion (it's when I first heard it) and I played the first riff for like half an hour this is how I loved that chord
\m/ Very good as always! But how is this rough-edged? haha I only noticed 3 little "mistakes" ^^. But I must say that I also have a hard time publishing something which is not as good as it could/should be! Anyway, many cool riffs, when I listened to the record it's one of the tracks I didn't listen to much, but it looks like a lot of fun to play! And good job with the volume knob! I'm going to say it again but you have a great sound now, and with your powerful attack the huge palmuting sounds amazing.
Well thanks mate! :D It might just be because I ended up recording it like 20 times, that I have become sooo aware of the minor mistakes that I make, that normal people might not see. The problem with wanting to record a song straight after learning it, while also being way over-tired. The worst part was, that one time I actually made it all the way through without any mistakes, but 30 seconds before the end, the song was somehow cut off, and I didn't play with a metronome, so I was screwed! But definitely. I won't publish anything that I am not at least partly satisfied with myself. To me this song just have a great atmosphere. The music video helped emphasize that mood. And thanks, that was actually a struggle too, as the knob needed millimeter precision, for the tone I wanted. A few times I would accidentally have turned it all the way down. That might be the only flaw with this amp, is that its clean tone isn't thaaat good, hence why I use the volume knob to get a semi-clean one :) Oh and I see you just uploaded a video too! :D haha need to give that a listen
Exactly, I know that all too well (as I just mentionned in my reply on my video), you want it to be perfect and then you start becoming some kind of maniac haha. And yes, doing mistakes at the very end is also a plague! :) I'll maybe try to learn this one, also you should know that I watched your cover of "Spit Out The Bone" lots of time to learn it as accurately as possible :D.
Exactly with the maniac part.. Ends up spending too much time, on those flaws :P The riffs themselves are not that hard. The structure of the song, is the only thing that takes a bit to get used to, so you definitely should! Hehe, I won't stand responsible for any mistakes then haha :D
Only thing I have to say is to work on your timing a bit, and some parts of the main riff you play palm muted but they aren’t muted on the album, otherwise it was perfect!
Gear I use is in the description :) I probably won't be doing a lesson sorry, as it would be quite a big task for me, as I haven't done any before. It would either need to consist of a lot of clips, or I'd have to make a small manuscript, for it not to become too long with me just rambling on :p
Maybe. It won't happen one of these days though, as tuning this guitar from standard to what sounds like D-standard, won't leave the strings tight enough, while it also being a hazzle. But maybe the next time I restring my Ibanez! It is indeed one of my favorite tracks from the record!
all in all, one of the best covers I've seen of this song. you matched the tone perfectly yet it was possible to differentiate the track and your guitar. nice playing and keep up the good work :D
Thanks for the massive compliment dude! The differentiating, is something I have worked a lot on, and it's good to hear that the work actually paid off!
I will try!
When that opening riff kicks in at 0:36, it’s so huge and dark and gnarly. Love it
Probably my favorite riff on the album. Great job!
One of my favorites too I think. Thanks!
Aw man I was expecting for you to do that bad ass solo but it's cool you did amazingly well
Thanks and sorry :P
The solo's on this album, don't excite me that much unfortunately. Which makes me rather wanna play the neat rhythm guitars James lay down. I'll consider it though for future ones.
my fav off the album, great tone man
It is up there for me too, only topped by "Spit Out The Bone", and tied with "Dream No More", for me.

Thanks a lot man!

Oh, how so? Quite a bit of my "style" probably comes from my fingers being quite long.

Nicely done bro

So heavy!
Awesome man 🤘🏻
Thanks!
you have a very good technique
Thank you. About two years ago, I had to completely redo how I held my pick, making me start from almost scratch with my right hand. Glad it has paid off.
Great job bro.........the best I've ever seen.......brazilian salutes......\m/
Thanks a lot! I do really appreciate the support! :)
nice cover man
thanks you very much!
This is amazing dude. Best song to my opinion after Bone in album. Actually Metallica is amazing but you are playing so good
Thank you! This, Bone and Dream are my top tracks of this album!
Anyone know how to get that siren-like noise in the intro? It's been itching at me for days and I just don't quite know how to do it.
It kinda sounds like kirk playing two notes, like D and E on the two highest strings (15th on B and 12th on E) and then pulling up on the whammy bar. Haven't tried to replicate it, but that is my best guess.
Thanks! definitely giving it a shot.
how do u get ur tone its real good
The description? ;)
Perfect !!!! \m/ I really like it so much \m/
Glad you think so! Cheers! lml
I actually tweeted it to Kirk, hope he sees it, you're pretty talented
Wow, that would be insane of that happened! Not getting my hopes up though. I can't even imagine how much they have to attend to these days!
great job! can you put out a tutorial id really like to learn this!!????
Thanks man! Not planning to do so, as that would be very time consuming. Time I don't got a lot of unfortunately :P
But there is a few tabs up on sites like ultimate-guitar. You can use those as reference, and then maybe just slow this video down? It was filmed at 50 fps, so even setting the speed to 0.5x, it will still run at 25 fps, giving room to see how the riffs go :)
Congratulations!! Your guitar tone is almost same..Finger style is very good..Keep on metal..
Thanks a lot! Thousands of hours have gone into practice. Glad they wasn't completely wasted :p
Love the technique brah
Thanks mate!
TheMathMog93 thanks for thanks me
pretty good man
Thanks!
Que buena afinación :l
Richtig gut👍👍👍👍
Danke Schön!
Wow
Awesome. Can you do this on an acoustic?
Thanks. Sure you could.
But I don't really see a reason to :)
TheMathMog93 It would sound cool.
Might be. I am putting new strings on my acoustic soon anyway, then I can give it a test, and see if it has anything worth it :)
Nice cover, with this tone the song sounds slightly heavier.
big like!!!
for this comment too!
Amazing cover, man! Could you share tabs for this song please? :)
What distortion do you use??? It sounds beautiful
Me podrías recomendar una TAB para poder practicarla viendo tus videos? Saludos desde México.
1:51 is that the chord they used in orion? forgive me if I'm wrong
Yes it is, just in a different key. It's a minor third dyad (chord consisting of two notes. A powerchord is also a dyad). Minor third and Mayor third dyads can be very powerful in metal if used in a proper way :)
:50 reminded me a lot of the begining riff in 'The Eye Of The Beholder'
I wish it was used more in metal it sounds so fucking brutal!
Indeed. A lot of guitar players in metal, don't try to move out of the comfort zone of only playing power-chords! There is a lot of beautiful dissonance in those chords, and a lot of others too!

Right, there are many subtles variations that are annoying to remember :P But I'll get it!
Have you ever heard of the band "The Sword", it kicks ass very badly!
Work hard and you’ll reach your dreams! :-)
Thanks! Been writing quite a bit of music, that I hope to share in a foreseeable future!
You’re welcome! :D Awesome!
Great cover - helped me fill in a couple of blanks. Minor feedback: bit too much string bending in places but otherwise solid stuff.
Thanks a lot man! Yeah, I apparently haven't quite gotten used to this string setup, that is a bit lighter than what I am used to! :P
Is this in standard tuning because I'm thinking of learning this?
Yes E-standard
Do you have the tabs for this ?
I do not. It was learned all by ear.
First riff is really similar to Harvester of Sorrow
I think it's much more similar to Leper Messiah, especially in groove and its rhythmic notation
Yeah, it resembles both, but I agree that it sounds more like Leper Messiah! It's a sound that is very welcome!
Only thing I have to say is to work on your timing a bit, and some parts of the main riff you play palm muted but they aren’t muted on the album, otherwise it was perfect!
Gangster as FUCK
I'll take it as a compliment! :P
Play it standing up! :P
Getting a better angle while sitting down is just easier hehe :P
But I'll look into doing some, standing up again ^^
Can you do murder 1
I might take a look at that one.
nice what pedals and maybe a lesson
Gear I use is in the description :)
I probably won't be doing a lesson sorry, as it would be quite a big task for me, as I haven't done any before. It would either need to consist of a lot of clips, or I'd have to make a small manuscript, for it not to become too long with me just rambling on :p
where is that tab???:)
I didn't use one, but check ultimate-guitar as some people always tend to make one.
I was gonna like it but them i noticed i was on 666 likes
This sounds like Here comes revenge
Ricardo Castillo Oddly enough it kinda does.
Even worse, the band almost sounds like Metallica
really makes you think
Tone sounds better than original
Wow thanks, that is a huge compliment!
This song turns out to be a tribute to a car crash victim that was a Metallica fan
dream no more
Maybe. It won't happen one of these days though, as tuning this guitar from standard to what sounds like D-standard, won't leave the strings tight enough, while it also being a hazzle. But maybe the next time I restring my Ibanez! It is indeed one of my favorite tracks from the record!
awesome cover!
Thanks Thomas!
Wow
