Oh yes, this Goblin Slayer build is definitely superior to your original one. I hadn't thought of the barbarian level, but it makes a great deal of sense in a Tranquil Fury sort of way. If a player wanted to focus more on that aspect, they would eventually get Relentless Rage. This way they could say "no" to a fatal injury long enough to choke out the goblin champion trying to eat your "cinnamon roll". That was a fun joke from your Priestess build.
Based on the light novels the Silver rank in the world was based on skills, equipment and "on the amount of good they have done". The other Silver ranks had better gear and had fought more dangerous creatures but they'd pick and choose the quests they did while the Goblin Slayer never took a break and just kept grinding.
Goblin Slayer already has official stats btw, he has 16 + 3 STR, 14 + 2 DEX, 15 + 2 CON, 12 + 1 Int, 11 + 1 Wis, 5 CHA. His HD is 12d8+10, his skills is Athletics, Perception and Intimidation. He's a dual class Fighter Ranger.
A Dark Elf says he is actually only around rank Ruby or Emerald in terms of actual capability, (still not level 5) but A.) His equipment is terrible so that would make him estimate at a lower level B.) The Dark Elf was probably just trying to insult him, and C.) He has clearly shown he can keep up with Heavy Warrior and Spearman. Also, armor wise, in lore, he's supposed to be wearing Leather armor (somehow) over chain.
I'm not fully familiar with all the ranks, so about what level would Ruby and Emerald be by my system? Also, interesting thing with the armor. Though again, the illustrator still clearly didn't get the memo, lol.
@@tabletopnephilim4633 Ruby is rank 5, emerald is 6, so 10-12 by your system, though again, he is clearly able to keep up with other Silvers, so it is still probably a combination of taunting and his subpar equipment that made the Dark elf say that. Also yeah, that armor is NOT leather in illustrations. FYI rank is plat at 1 and down, Ruby would be 12, Emerald 10
Yeah, Goblin Slayer isn't really a poor fighter as much is he is a specialized one. He has dedicated himself to fighting goblins of all types, so when he fights something that differs from a goblin it more difficult. However, GS is pretty smart, which allows him to outwit his opponents and makes him ore dangerous than he seems.
@@bradleybourgeois4710 well, in relation to RPG mechanics the problem is that he isn't specialized. Rather than a careful multiclass or just all his levels in one, he has levels in Fighter, Ranger, and maybe even some scout, so while he's at the right level, he doesn't have them well distributed.

Not humanoids, lizardmen, manticores, or dragons. Just goblins. Due to this he's out of he's depth a bit when fighting other races. However, he's capable of overcoming his disadvatanges with his wit. Definitely more coherent that my current knowledge of Goblin Slayer! :p There was a version that I designed before the whole realization of spell scrolls, focusing mainly on Fighter levels with 4 Barbarian levels and that necessary 1 Ranger level. It's relatively accurate to the anime, though my lack of spell knowledge meant that I was entirely unaware of the magic scroll thing.
Wouldn’t goblin slayer simply have the slayer build from dnd pathfinder it’s basically a hybrid build of what you mentioned but specialized to specific races ex goblins

I am planning on remakes of Priestess and High Elf Archer. I'm actually pretty happy with Dwarf Shaman and Lizardman Priest, since I knew a bit more of what I was doing by then.
Goblin Slayer's silver rank eligibility is his hyper competency. Few other adventurers below his rank are as prepared for goblin and non-goblin related nonsense. His adaptibility and effective leadership raise him above any amtuer adventurer but his hyper fixation in goblins and mediocre stats will never allow him to advance past silver, which is okay because as he has stated himself, it doesn't suit his purpose or goals. Being a silver rank is sufficient because people will respect his status and provides useful benefits in and around the guild.
I like it but I think I'd have run fighter instead of Rogue. Probably capped him at level 10 based on how strong I think he is compared to the higher level silvers which I'd place around 15 to 16. I'd run ranger to level 3 to go hunter archetype and get Horde Breaker then one into Barbarian for rage if you want it and the rest in fighter battle master. He's a jack of all trades kind of fighter who can use just about any weapon well so battle master with their maneuvers works out for that. I'd also grab the lucky feat since he rolls his own dice. In fact, I think he may not have anything in barbarian. What looks like 'He's raging and can't die' I think is him using the lucky feat to reroll his death saves and get back up with 1 hp.

Beginning Stats for Goblin Slayer I agree with 14 STR 12 DEX 15 CON 10 INT 13 WIS and 8 CHA. Goblin Slayer is a Varient Human not Normal Human +1 Con +1 Wis Starting Feat Prodigy (Skill Knowledge Nature which is the skill for Knowledge of goblins in D&D) Expertise in Knowledge Nature. Human skill is Perception, Haunted one background " Survival & Investigation " Languages Common, Goblin, Dwarvish, & Draconic. Goblin Slayer has only one class FIGHTER 16 Skill: Athletics & History: Archetype: Battle Master with the 6 ability score increases stats should be 16 STR, 12 DEX, 20 CON, 12 INT, 14 WIS, 8 CHA Feats: Shield Master, Tough. Fighting style Duelist. Battle Master Maneuvers: Quick Toss ( he throws various weapons including his short sword at goblins) Push (often using his shield for pins to wall before stabbing) Cleave, Brace, Tactical Assessment, Parry, Grappling Strike (AKA Choking the Hobgoblin with hair) and Ambush all of which adds a d10 Superiority Die. He uses Half plate and a shield. with a grand total of 212HP he knows how to take an ass whooping which is how he kept getting up. He can't be a ranger because no terrain training, He's defiantly not a rogue (I know your gonna ask me to explain the scroll. well simple wizards can teach anyone how to use a scroll. Hence the scene where the Mage was telling priestess that goblin slayer was asking for her help in deciphering a scroll he found. if he was 13 thief rogue he would've used the mirror gate.) i might say 1 level of barbarian but goblin slayer is way too disciplined. there you go Goblin Slayer is 16 Battle Master Fighter with 3 attacks + optional shove via shield master "Bonus Action" 6 attacks with Action surge + maneuvers totaling 6d6+6d10+60 damage with AC of 18 "Half-plate+Shield
If you have a different interpretation than mine, then that's fine. This is mine. I think Rogue works just fine, and is the most thematic given that he was trained by someone literally named Burglar. Battlemaster might be better at certain actions because they can do them as part of an Attack action, but they are not the only ones who can do them. I gave him Athletics for a reason. And like I said, not all Rage is loud. Think of it as more of a focused state of mind, one focused on enduring, rather than a battle frenzy. There is no single correct way to make a character. My videos are simply the conclusions that I've come to.
I disagree. I see coming up with plans and strategies as more of an Intelligence thing, while Wisdom is based more on basic knowledge that you don't exactly need a lot of learned knowledge to know. For example, Intelligence would be using your knowledge of how a car motor is put together to jerry-rig a workable fix to a problem, while Wisdom would be knowing not to touch a motor that's been running with your bare hands because it's hot.
You could absolutely start with Rogue, I just wanted to get Barbarian and Ranger out of the way since they're such a small part of the build. Also, Tulok has done SO MANY characters, There is no way I can stay away from ones he's done forever. All I can do is try and differentiate my builds from his as much as I can.

We picked Perception for our Canny skill, which is essentially Expertise so the PB is doubled.
