It was exciting at the time for sure (Jay Martens here) Ugh... The hands of mine that they showed were so awful... That AQ hand with Gus is so cringe. I played some decent hands and battled all night (not shown on the broadcast) but it was so exhausting and stressful I was pretty much done by the end and running on fumes.
Jay the Queen giving you a set and him a flush was the dirtiest card. It was just a great fun table. I did noticed your not featured alot but somehow made heads up. Danny was just destined here. Great stuff.
One of the best! Your fans miss you Mike! I always watched WPT for your commentary! Learned a lot. Nothing wrong with Vince but things like: "Those who chase straights and flushes (Las Vegas) arrive on planes and leave on buses!" That and a hundred more; 😂! RIP
Sexton: "Now Vince you might say, these two Nguyen's (Wins) are not related; but we've got a Nguyen-Nguyen (Win-Win) situation right here!" Nice play on words, Mike!
This has become my favorite table. Back in the day. I didn't like or appreciate Gus. As I go back now I find the ones he was in tend to be my favorite. Lots of great Mike and Vince. Danny catching cards is amazing every time. I miss these times.
Danny got some good cards but it was the way he played them that counted. I think a lot of players with the same cards would have played them much different. Danny kept pushing and he had a lot of luck. All the players at the final table played good with the cards they got. Some mistakes were made but you will have that happen in any poker game. Thanks for the uploads.
Chip, thanks for posting. This is probably the most worthwhile tournament video I've seen: lots of crazy draw-outs, pretty girls. We still had Mike Sexton announcing with Vince. (Does anybody know what year this was? If we'd had higher-quality video then it would be perfect.) And the two pros (Gus and Danny) prevailed to the near end, like a story with a moral.
As far as I remember, in the Final Hand besides a Heart or a 3 Danny could have made a Backdoor Straight if the Turn and River Cards where either an Ace and a 5 or a 5 and a 6.
I’ve played with a lot of Viet players and they love to chase any draws like gunshots and 3 flushes all the way to the river lol. Seen lots of massive pots won that way as well
Ah the good ole days. This was during a time when most poker players were playing very reserved and ABC poker…the guys who played aggressive could get players to fold or felted all the way to the final table
While DW made some decent plays, overall, he’s hands down the luckiest FT winner in WPT history. He not only pulled a miracle on Men, that A/7 vs A/K hand was unreal. He was a half a percent to win after the flop. Those saying Danny was brilliant, uh, what’s he done since this tournament? Absolutely zero. It’s very telling of his “skill” that in the WPT championship, which he got free entry to, he was out on day one. In fact, he was the ONLY WPT FT winner who was eliminated on day one of that tournament. Danny’s takedown was apparently just in the cards. Several pots he won from misplays by other players. Most notably the HU hand with Martens where he chased the flush. To be fair to Martens, he’d seen the crap Danny played and honestly could have believed it was the best hand. But those two prior outdraws and that key hand ended up giving Danny the victory.
@@JDKMAR hey jay it’s been a long time. So yes I still play recreational for fun and almost no tournaments, but last WSOP (2019) I played my first eligible seniors event. It’s crazy how fast time goes by. My oldest was 8 then and now she’s getting her PHD. Hope life’s been good to you and the money made your life better.
@@shandorszentkuti6330 seniors event!!! dude... that is a stark reality but I am happy to hear that you are well. I still laugh at that KK hand where I call but you havent played yet. I was so mentally spent by that point lol.
@@shandorszentkuti6330 and yes the $$ was an enormous gift to my family and I... it really enabled me to not work myself to death and really enjoy my profession.
Well it just goes to show the old adage better lucky than good is true. A ten year old can just throw it all out there every hand and hope for a lucky suck out. Probably a 40% chance you could win it all with absolutely no skill whatsoever!
To be honest I used to chew gum a lot when I was younger to keep me awake and alert. Until I found out it was rude and bothered others I stop ever since. You will be surprised that no one ever told Danny it was a rude habit.
Bill Sexton can be so stupid sometimes while giving out wrong information to new players .. Jay has 3 qs. Corey has ? Two spades on the flop. One on the river. " Well Jay has gotta think he has the best hand here." Wtf?? Like the dude never heard of a slowplay?? I mean it's tough to get away from 3 qs when you got buddy covered, I get that. But this isn't even a disquised back door draw!! Ba call. And Sexton needs to go back to school!!
Its MIKE Sexton and he is a multi-millionaire and one of the top ten poker players in history. Think its YOU that needs to go to school. Wait a minute...you just did.
Simmer down son....just correcting your name flub. I happen to play with Mike, Greg Raymer etc and I doubt you could afford the buy in. Later brocephus.
The wildest and most exciting final table I've ever seen!

I didn't last. After two hands, all I could think about is how much I wanted that Corey guy dead.
This is why I think Season 3 was the best season
"Nguyen-Nguyen situation"
Mike was waiting his whole life for that joke. 🤣
Ha ha ha 😂🤣 !!!!
Hahahaa I loved it I laughed so hard it made me smile ❤😂
That boy Danny is a bingo player not a poker player
Probably the luckyest and the worst player to ever win a WPT title

I didn't know Seth Rohan used to play poker 😝
Is this the one where Men the master had players siphon chips to give him later one in the tourney? 😉
Or grilling food in the hotel room
Who miss the old bay 101 . Im sure I do
Hand #1: Open-raise to 60,000 and then re-raise to 230,000. Meanwhile, the BB was 6,000! lol
I miss those days, man...
This was a bounty tournament why Danny played like this sick luck was pinpoint queen 9 diamonds callable hand 4 handed
john Weller we’d
Danny on the river... catching it... amazing luck
This is some of the most horrific play I’ve ever seen

In the 2019 ept Monte Carlo final table, there was running 7’s for a full house suck out and a 10 high call by Ryan Riess that was good. Spooky.
Danny Nguyen is my new idol
Lmao 10x open first hand 😂😂
23:00 Corey raised but Sexton said "re-raised". This was not the first time he said reraise when meaning raise.
Gus is god..
Seriously? Nobody called him Doc Martens?

On f****** believable Danny signed the contract with the Devil.. he had one he caught that five on the river.. no one in poker with a play that
