"Listen to my story. This... may be our last chance." The game opens up to this theme and it is played throughout. Final Fantasy X is one of my favorite RPGs ever! Still holds up well too.
@@Krawbs For sure. FF7 has a soft spot as my first FF game, but I just doesn't hold up today. Broke out my PS1 so play it in anticipation for the remake, but just couldn't get through it. Then I figured I'd try out FFX again and loved it even more that I remembered.

The word you are looking for is bittersweet. This is the main theme of the whole game. FFX is definitely my favorite story in any game I've played. Would love to see you play through the game, but it is quite slow game, not for everyone.
I came to the comments to say this exact thing, haha. You nailed it. The only other story that gets close, to me, is Shadow of the Colossus. At least so far as the emotions go.
@@virtuosoflux That's quite curious, I was quite young when I played shadow of the colossus so the story didn't leave a big impression on me. I loved the game for the gameplay, truly unique at the time and even today. I should probably replay it.
The scene this song plays in is both the very first scene in the game, and the same scene replayed near the end of the game. Hits WAY harder the 2nd time.
FFX is easily one of the best oldschool ff games. The whole mood of the game is just so different from many of the other entries. This piece is the main theme and if your up for more FFX i would reccomend "suteki da ne" but i would not watch any game vids that are paired with it (big spoilers) Also X is a great entry point if you are curious about checking out a final fantasy game
Yes but I count it as when its played in the game. Just before reaching Zanarkand the group gets together around a fire place and talks knowing that one of them plans to die in near future.
I love how the game opens with this and by the time you hear it again, your heart weighs heavy because of not only everything that's happened so far, but also knowing you're near the end. FFX was my first final fantasy game. And it's easily one of my absolute favourites
The fact that the player and Tidus find out the purpose of the journey at the same time is such a master stroke. I wish I could experience playing FFX for the first time again, just for the emotional impact of that moment again, and how much more emotional this song is knowing what I know now.
It is certainly a song many people desired to learn on piano. I should know because I am one of them. Sadly, I had to stop playing due to health reasons, but I hope to get back into it someday. But yeah, FFX is every much a beloved game. You're hit with this song at the start of the game, and you learn understand it when you return this very scene later in the game. Whether you choose to play it yourself or experience it through RUclips or whatever, you'll be in for quite a journey.
The Final Fantasy OSTs are always awesome, mainly due to the involvemend of genius composer Nobue Uematsu. This is actually the opening theme to the game. I also highly recommend "Final Fantasy VII One Winged Angel (Eminence Symphony)"
Years ago when I was in choir practice, I forgot to silence my phone. At that time, my ringtone was this song. My choir teacher recognized it and told us that she sang this song at a convention, and she had no idea it was from a video game.
Here's the opening of the game where To Zanarkand plays. ruclips.net/video/kilrRiclUFY/видео.html It's actually a "respite" scene in the game before a big thing, and the game starts here and the story "so far" is told by Tidus, one of the main protagonists.
Growing up i always had to share consoles with my brother. Then I got my own PS2 and this was the game I wanted most. This music will always remind me of that time.
This song plays as the opening intro. FFX is a beautiful game, very dark yet inspiring. You should look into "Otherworld", it's also from FFX. [Edit] Nobuo Uematsu composed many of the OSTs of the earlier Final Fantasy Games including this game. He's an amazing composer.
this song is extremely emotional, the hopefulness of it starts of the game but when its played again at the end of the game its sob inducing, but there's still a bittersweet dream in the sorrow. this has been my favourite game since i was a child seeing my older siblings playing it 10+ years ago, definitely the best FF to date.
Just watching this now. I can't even listen to this song without tearing up. That's how absolutely impactful this song and the game was. Just heart wrenching.
The opening riff will be forever ingrained in my memory. Even though I can no longer play piano as well as I used to, my fingers will never forget how to play the opening to this song. It’s a part of me now.
"Listen to my story, this may be our last chance" - Tidus "Just, one more thing... The people and the friends that we have lost, or the dreams that have faded...... Never forget them" - Yuna
The Titanic wishes it was as sad as this game. The meta theme of this story is accepting loss. It's not easy and definitely not hopeful. You just power through.
At the start of the game, you'll see the opening movie with this music. After a brief adventure (30 to 40 hours, which will fly by), you'll hear this music again. The second time, your initial feelings will be shattered and gone forever. Surprisingly, people worldwide who have lost their first impressions are now championing this music.
Seeing these game music reactions make me hope that you end up playing jrpgs. Many of them have great stories and they're basically anime in game form - a lot of them even got adapted into anime and manga. The game this song is from is great and one of the popular entries in the Final Fantasy franchise. I'd definitely watch the video if you end up playing this game. Please check out other jrpg openings as well! Some of my favorites are the OPs of Corpse Party Blood Covered, Summon Nights 5, Rune Factory 1-3, and Luminous Arc 2. There's also the songs for the Tales game franchise.
It’s a testament to the piece that even though you’re off with the specifics you’re correct that this plays at a low point for the characters but there’s a shot of the main character quite literally standing apart and looking to the light on the horizon.
If I remember correctly, this song is played literally after you select "New Game", so it plays literally at the opening cutscene. Then it also around the middle of the game on a scene where the main character is told something important and feels like he was deceived but at the same time was also part of the deceive, the song doesn't start at the begining I think, it starts at the middle. And it also reprises at the ending, in a particular part, doesn't start at the begining, actually starts around the end part of the song. So it doesn't play entirely, it plays the begining at the begining, the middle at the middle plart, and then the end part at the ending. I guess that's why it feels melancholic at the begining, sort of fills with hope yet a bit of sadness at the middle and then in the end it feels bittersweet, because it's technically what happens when it plays in the game. Final Fantasy games in general are long gameplay games, mostly driven by story. In the case of Final Fantasy X (10 in roman numerals, all are numbered in roman numerals), story drives the gameplay 3/4 of the game, until the point the game literally allows you to roam around and do things on your own or go to the final dungeon and fight the final boss. Other entries allow you to do other stuff in the middle of story sections, at your own discretion you can choose then to continue with the story. If you want to react to other Final Fantasy good music, here a few suggestions, some are vocal, some are just music used as background for events or battles, and some are both. FFV Battle at the Big Bridge FFVI Terra's theme FFVI Dancing Mad (Though I would suggest the version from The Black Mages, a band by the composer of the music of Final Fantasy) FFVII One Winged Angel (Though I recomend the latest version "Advent One Winged Angel ACC version") FFVIII Liberi Fatali FFVIII Eyes on Me FFIX You are not alone FFIX Memories of Life FFX Otherworld FFX Suteki da ne I could recommend more, but the list would go to infinity, this are good for starters I guess, and some have been already mentioned in other comments.
FF X is to me the best on the series, and objectively the best entry point in the series (Still in the golden age, but not too old). IMO each aspect of this game is nearing perfection (Exception of the dubbing, wich is not as bad as some can say) You really should play it if you can, the scene from where this music comes will never fail to get you emotional.
FFX is one of my all-time favorite games, and probably the reason I love RPGs. For a game of that era it did an amazing job with both story and visuals. The FF music is always amazing.
I would have suggested a different version of To Zanarkand. I understand that for reaction purpose, a video with something is better. But man, one lf those videos you can find on YT, just with the "Final Fantasy Distant World" orchestra logo would have been perfect. At least in those videos (or an actual video of the game ost, instead of a live performance) the instruments' volumes are correctly tuned to cover each other in the right way. The piano is always the main protagonist, for this OST. And in different moments the other instruments were covering it too much, missdirecting the attention away from its change of peace and rhythm. Also, this version has in general a rhythm that is a bit different and a bit off, with the piano that seems to play a bit too many notes for a bit too long time, in some points, disturbing the armonious rhythm that we have in the game's OST.
this is the main theme and plays several times throughout the game, there are different versions. at the start of the game its just piano. at the end of the game they have the full orchestra just to really drive it home
I hope you one day play a videogame on this channel since its called GOT "Games"... Not only on twitch because after the stream, the clip is gone forever
Some of the best songs in the Final Fantasy games are from the Final Fantasy X series of games. To Zanarkand, 1000 words and Memories of Lightwaves are in my opinion the most powerful songs in the series. Highly recommend Memories of Lightwaves next. Also recommend playing the games as well lol. You will never regret playing these games.
FFX is one of my favorite titles in the series, and one of my favorite JRPG as well. Definitely worth playing. And if you do, I hope you put your playthrough on RUclips :D Even the sequel, FFX-2, which is nowhere near as good as the first one, is a gem of its own.
I love this version of this music. I still replay Final Fantasy X to this day. Definitely one you should give a shot. Maybe even on stream if you're interested.
For me To Zanarkand, Theme of Love and Tina's / Terra's Theme are the soundtracks from the Final Fantasy franchise that have impacted and moved me the most to this day, I would even say that they are essential for those people who love video game soundtracks
It's been a long time since i last heard it and i literally got chills with the first note.. This song plays right when the game starts in Zanarkand. The group is sitting around and bonfire. You really get a feeling of sadness but also hope. The protagonist says "Listen to my story, this may be our last chance" and the game rolls back to the beginning. At some point close to the end you find yourself in Zanarkand at last, at the same spot with the same song, and u understand everything. The weight and sadness that they carry on their shoulders knowing what will happen in Zanarkand and the hope of finding a way to change it
FFX is my favorite game of all time. And I always recommend to anyone that enjoys RPG ❤, To Zanarkand is the main song, appears as the hit play and come's back to kick you on the guts... that's all I'm going to say about it 😭
Something I can highly recommend is the distant worlds soundtracks, they are remastered orchestral versions of songs and ost's from every final fantasy.
If anyone who is hearing this for the first time is feeling emotional it's an emotional scene where Tidas is getting ready to tell you his story this is the first thing you see when you start the game
Luke, please do a follow up video with the follow Final Fantasy OSTs. You will enjoy them! 1. FFX-2 1000 words (japanese version): ruclips.net/video/BNOQ5OFotJs/видео.html 2. Zenkorkand 😂🤣🤣 ty for the good laugh!! Too bad you didn't listen to the original track first even though the live one is amazing too ! Liberi Fatali from FF VIII Opening is amazing and a must watch btw! Also Distant Worlds from FFXI. And there are tons of good tracks from FF OSTs.. Hope to see you play some Final Fantasy someday, i'm sure you'd love it. (and cry a lot)☺
Final Fantasy X is probably the best place to begin if you want to try the FF series. It is the link between the classic series and the more modern games.
I'm so glad you had a chance to listen to it, FFX is definitely a ride even 20+ years later! I'd definitely vote for it if you ever decide to play a Final Fantasy game. This is a great start! It's a beautiful story and it has something that sets it apart for sure! So I highly encourage you to give it a try!
This game is really emotional, highly recommended. You should check out "Flow" from Final Fantasy 14. Amanda Achen is an amazing singer and seamlessly "flows" between operatic, jazz, and pop style.
yeah this music hits you right in the feels and its one of the song where the game opens up right at the start it has the MC Tidus walking around the camp trying to give small support to the characters and he walks over to the spot where they have there weapons and this pops up "Listen to my story. This... may be our last chance." it gives you the feeling of being lost but there is still a small bit of hope but then it picks up and your right in the game until you get to the spot close to the ending of the game and this plays again then the music picks up and your determine to take that small bit of hope and make it reality its truly a work of art i think you should get in its petty cheap now it even came out with a HD truly worth it.
One song from ff10 I would personally recommend and is one of my absolute favorites is Seymour's theme I don't want to give anything away on the theme so I'll just leave it at that
This music is from the first scene in the game, the scene also plays when you just start the game up. The game is narrated by a character called Tidas and begins with him about to tell his friends of the journey that lead him to where they all are. So the scene is a flash forward to the start of his narration then you play the game leading up to the point he is narrating from near the end of their journey.
I think you would absolutely love final fantasy 10 I would recommend you play it if you ever get the free time I know me and probably quite a few others would love to watch it but even if that can't happen it is worth a gameplay whenever you can give it the time the music is next level and that's not just the main pieces and his story is one of the best in the series at least it's in my top 3

At some point close to the end you find yourself in Zanarkand at last, at the same spot with the same song, and u understand everything. The weight and sadness that they carry on their shoulders knowing what will happen in Zanarkand and the hope of finding a way to change it
Never clicked a video so fast!!!!!
FFX is my favorite game of all time. And I always recommend to anyone that enjoys RPG ❤, To Zanarkand is the main song, appears as the hit play and come's back to kick you on the guts... that's all I'm going to say about it 😭
This song has been on every playlist / cd i burned since FFX dropped
Something I can highly recommend is the distant worlds soundtracks, they are remastered orchestral versions of songs and ost's from every final fantasy.
If anyone who is hearing this for the first time is feeling emotional it's an emotional scene where Tidas is getting ready to tell you his story this is the first thing you see when you start the game
Luke, please do a follow up video with the follow Final Fantasy OSTs. You will enjoy them!

Play it, play it! 😊
I liked "Dark messenger" from FF IX.
Aaand now I wanna go play Final Fantasy X again, thanks Luke. Time to go cry at pixels again. I hope you're happy xD
Thank you for your reaction.
Now, I'm waiting for Suteki da ne,
The piano collections version of "Zanarkand" is my absolute favourite. The solo piano is just absolutely gorgeous
Another amazing OST from Final Fantasy X is "The Truth Revealed".
"Listen to my history....this might be our last chance."
Nobuo Uematsu himself is a legend. You definetly must check some of his work. Theres too many to name, some of the OST is way ahead of his time.
This song plays at the main menu and one of the opening cutscenes. FFX and FFVII have my favorite stories. Alot about life, death, and grief
You should react to "One Winged Angel" from Final Fantasy VII !!
Listening to you try and pronounce Zanarkand just made my day. I don't think you said it the same way twice in the whole video
It's the beginning, it's the end, it's their story.
Id recommend Final Fantasy 14s Flow, and Dragonsong. Two awesome pieces of music
Ff7 remake "hollow" it's singed by the singer of survive said the prophet
Anything zelda orchestra is amazing. They have a big mash up orchestra price that's amazing
Luke, just play the Game. It's one of the best games ever made.
I think the original is just piano. So it's a bit less epic I guess.
This was the first Video Game I played that I cried at the ending. Won't spoil why, but if you know, you know. 😢
"Somnus" is another FF song that has a similar vibe
To me it is overwhelmingly sad and exactly what you meant after you said that
It's the inro for the game, the scene for this, it's the intro,
Guess you gotta play FFX on stream now 😉
