In the Seletsky study, we once again witnessed Garry's out of this world competitive spirit. Something he's always had in him and will always have. Something that made him one of the very very best in chess History. That's quite fascinating to watch him calculate in an awe-inspiring silence as if his life was at stake. Quite moving.
And some idiots think Kasparov wasn't a great endgame player. He isn't generally thought of as a top 5 endgame player all time, but all world chess champions were great endgame players.
@@Vivungisport Karpov and Kramnik were better endgame players, but the thing about Kasparov is that he was quite often winning before before the endgame. His best endgames were his opponents dragging out lost positions. Karpov, Kramnik, and Carlsen, too, are best known for out playing guys in endgames that should have/could have been held. However, Kasparov was as good as any at winning a won game.
studies doesnt require endgame skill they require calculation generally but of course gary ches is the greatest of all time and also incredible in endgame
Kasparov was a very aggressive player on the chess board. He loved to attack... They being said you can see that in many of his games, the middlegame is where he's most comfortable and sometimes coming out to the endgame in peculiar positions.
As an 800 rated player it blows my mind how deep the moves can get to. My terrible attempts at the caro kann are an embarrassment to this level of thought.
That's a good question... I ran it through analysis on the computer, and white is still winning with Ke3, but it's not straightforward, the continuation involves quite a few knight, king and rook moves. Maybe there's some pattern there that is obvious to Garry and Hikaru, although why that means black moves into a mate-in-one with Kxe1 I have no idea.
Hikaru finally found someone to do a rap battle.
This is the greatest collab... its amazing to watch them just find these forcing moves so quickly on the fly

Garrys end game ability are phenomenal.

@@Justs99171 True! In my recollections I remeber he was among the best/ if not best at his time, before Carlsen came.

This why Kasparov is the effing 🐐
Oh man, this is unintentionally funny as hell. Effing the goat and the effing goat are two very different sentences

Garry’s mic kinda low . Great vid 👍
Thanks, no clue why hikaru didn't upload this
Because he gets schooled in calculations by the old beast?
@@funfor1life literally hikaru is way much better than kasparov is like if hikaru is supervising him
Man this puzzle is so deep
2nd comes right after 1st :D
In the 2nd puzzle, Black instead of Kxe1, why not Ke3? Its draw rather than lose?
