    Most of my reels are Sougayilang. Great reels. I use them for Trout, Catfish, bluegill, perch, and fresh and salt water drum. Not a bad one yet out of 30 reels. Tip: NO matter what reel you get always oil your reels when they come out of the box.

    I retired and moved to the Philippines in 2013 and if you are any kind of fisherman, Chinese reels can't help but cross your path. much of your your analysis of the reels are accurate, but one thing I would like to interject is consistency, most of the reels are fishable and pretty much reliable but one you buy will have a drag system that performs as good as a Penn or shimano and the next will not be as good but out of the dozen or so I have purchased, none have failed and I've not had to toss a single one which for the price point is what you are after, I still have a good Penn, an abu garcia and a Shimano also that I brought from the states. Good video and by the way, the way the Filipinos pronounce that brand name is: "sow-guy-lang

    *Bought a 500 for an ultralight rod. It's very smooth **enjoyable.fishing** recommend casts great. One odd thing- the bale wire is a bit heavy diameter in my opinion for a reel of this size. But a great purchase.*

    Love this video! I used the Temu version and caught a banger flounder and 2 keeper striper bass last week. Reel was about $23.98 to be exact lol.. I still use my $80 bucks combo daiwa as my go to .. been using it flawlessly for 4 years. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I never understood unless your a tourney guy or don’t care about spending 500+ on a reel lol the point on over spending.. Just my opinion. Everyone got one lol

    I think a 2500 on a 1-3kg rod would make a fantastic squid/ whiting stick. You dont need anything highly expensive or sensitive to catch fish. With a big wippy rod a dedicated squid stick would be pretty cool for under $50

  • @ScuffedEngineer
    @ScuffedEngineer 5 лет назад

    Drags are generally a simple fix. Flatten out the metal disk to truly flat(as they're stamped and will be uneven) unless they're not supposed to be and use a reputable drag grease(cal's, shimano etc.).

  • @HawgWyldFishing
    @HawgWyldFishing 5 лет назад

    You need to try and find the pfleuger Trion combos. Like $25 for the combo. The rods are just trash for bass fishing, but are great for skipjack herring, or other bait fish rods. But the reels are amazing in my opinion. I’ve got some that are 5 years old and still work fine. I’ve had a couple that died after a full year of use but most of them have been really great reels with smooth drags and they are super cheap.

    Ok you should really try some casting reels. I have one on order right now it's made by DMK. I'm more than willing to let you review it when it comes in. This will be my third one from them. I really like these reels. The only thing i wish is that they would make a higher gear ratio. 6.3:1 and 7.0:1 is the only ratios I have found. I'll be truthful I can't afford to pay for some of them high dollar reels.

      I received my new reel the other day. I haven't had a chance to fully test it yet but I will say it's one of the smoothest reel I've ever held. You when you pick up a new reel and click it. Then spin the spool with your finger. Yeah this thing just spun and spun. I didn't think it would ever stop spinning.
      Mikey give this thing a test. It won't disappoint for the price.

    i’ve tried using “budget” casting reels and it’s been a “meh” experience. out of 3 KK reels, I only have one that works still. the other two? one I blew up internally setting the hook on like a 2lb fish. it was weird as fuck. and the other one no matter what I did, after a week of use it just squealed. I took it apart and greased and oiled it and it was just trash.
    so $150 or more on a casting reel. because it definitely comes down to “you get what you pay for.”
    edit: and bro, i’d rather be dealing with some rain while being on the water than the weather i’m dealing with now. it just dumped 3” of snow on us last night.
