In this video I use my century 90 lb grappling dummy to work on my MMA training. I do judo throws such as harai goshi, hanai goshi, uchi mata, osoto gari, ippon seoi nage, and more. I also work on my close range striking from the thai clinch such as elbow strikes, knee strikes, and hook punches. I always try to transition from a takedown to a better position such as full mount or side control, and from there I work on my ground and pound, and eventually hunt for the submission. The main bjj submissions I did today were arm bars and kimura locks, both are very high percentage and effective in MMA and real combat. Towards the end I perform some sweeps from closed guard, as well as arm bar from closed guard. In the last clip of the video, I perform the famous Imanari roll leading into a leg lock and heel hook. i hope you guys enjoyed the video, I had a lot of fun making it! Hello Jason, i know nothing about MMA but thank you for this vidéo. When you learn karaté Manu Yeats, it's difficult to accept after the contact. Congratulations for this démo.
Bought 2 types .. 1 like yours & the other a full size human form Both are great ..begin with a small dance with the pair then the fight begins .... Wrestling with the drones are great cardio workout ..... Thanks for the idea ...punching bags are left dead with these 2 ....
Ok that dummy is about 50 to 60% of your weight I bet you are sore after doing that?...love the video very inspiring...definetly motivates me to pull my own out.
Hey Stan, I float between 140-145lbs. I used to get a lot more sore but technique really helps prevent soreness by learning how to be more efficient in terms of body mechanics. Honest truth is I haven’t whipped out my dummy in quite a while, as I went through a phase of focusing on traditional karate kihon and sport style Kumite, just so I can provide that sort of content to some of my nee subscribers who are predominately karate based. And to my surprise I felt quite strong on the dummy after not having trained with it for a while. The only place I was a little sore was between the shoulder blades and traps. I used some of my mobility products yesterday night to also promote healing and muscle relaxation. Everything is a balance brother! OSS!
@@SENSEIJASON Nice, I'm reminded once again. Ok so more like 64%. I hope we dont shutdown I'm enjoying my bjj and judo training lately which is why I haven't had to pull my dummy out. I'm also doing karate at home twice a week and on Sunday karate right after Judo with my Sensei. It is really tough but I enjoy every bit of it towards the goal of becoming a true martial artist. I eventually want to practice ninjitsu after getting a black belt in all 3 disciplines. After my state tournament on December 5th for karate I will slow down on karate and focus more with bjj and judo only.
Hey brother! Let me just say this, anyone who says grappling dummies are not beneficial (even during quarantine) are straight full of it. To say they offer no application or transference to real time skill or technique is bs. Khabib uses grappling dummies to focus on ground and pound, top positional pressure, and throwing. So do Olympic wrestling teams. I use them just as a boxer uses a heavy bag. Yes the grappling dummy and heavy bag are not “real” opponents, but they offer indispensable training in the development of ones skill. I first got this dummy to improve my judo. Can I say it has? Absolutely yes, and it is a great conditioning experience. Plus the dummy does not mind being mauled via ground n pound or thrown repetitively over and over. Do not get me wrong it does not replace a real training partner or opponent, but it sure is the next best thing! -Jason
@@SENSEIJASON Awesome, didn’t know that about Khabib! I’ve heard they are used by wrestlers. That’s great to hear that it’s been a good tool for you. Eventually I’ll plan to get one myself then (hopefully when I have more space). I’ve been heavily into Kettlebell and Bulgarian Bag training recently (functional training circuits). The maker of the bag, Suples, also makes a ‘speed dummy,’ which I was looking to find out more about. That’s how I found your videos :)
Is the dummy able to stand up on its own? . I bought a different dummy from combat sports and its useable but wobbly on the legs. I wish it could stand on its own
I'm looking into getting a grappling dummy also from century (I have a wholesale account) 😁. I noticed you use the 90 lbs dummy. I'm 5ft 5in tall. Would the 90 lbs work for me or the 120lbs?
Hey brother I’m about 5ft 7in tall, and I believe the 90lb Dummy for my height and weight is perfect. Remember that when you throw it, you also have to pick it up, basically deadlifting/squatting. I’d start with the 90lb first. And if you feel like you want to build more strength go with the 120lb.
