    More tips 🙂
    - Know where the consular section of your country’s embassy is. Note that in many countries the consulate will be housed in a separate building at a different location to that of your country’s embassy. Know the address, e-mail and telephone number of the consulate. If there are emergency contact methods, note them down. If you are in any trouble or have lost your travel document, immediately contact your consulate for assistance.
    - If you are on medication, pack more medication than you will need for the trip. Sometimes flights can be cancelled or delayed or weather might prevent you from flying out of the country for a few more days. Make sure that you have enough medication for such a contingency. HOWEVER: do note that bringing an unusually large amount of drugs into a country might be illegal so always check what your limit is, if any.
    - Make sure to have with you a doctor’s note or prescription on the off chance that you loose your medication or are admitted into hospital for an emergency.
    - Make sure to have the appropriate medical insurance.

    Having reviewed some symposium videos of the past years, I'm surprised by the amount of stuff you get in the goodie bag. I think it's quite doable to just arrive with no art materials at all, and just use the things from the goodie bag! [could be a nice art challenge, too]

      It is possible, and if you really need some specific art supply it's likely to find it at the sponsor art booths.

    When you take your notes, do you use a separate notebook or do you put them in your sketchbook? I’m curious what is a good approach for this. I can see benefits for both.

      It's easier to refer to if they are just written in the sketchbook directly

    Toeh, what do you get for:
    A) Typical $450 workshop pass? Is it worth it? What do you do, learn?
    B) Typical $250 sketch pass? I thought you just walk together. Do you get something?
    [ EDIT: I am reviewing your other videos where you answer some of this ]
    Thanks Teoh!

    • @teohyc

      Whether it is worth the money is really subjective because what people value is subjective. The symposium was sold out of passes should give you an indication of the value others think this symposium provides.
      Generally speaking, at the workshops you will get feedback from the instructors, you can also learn from the feedback given to other students, and you can learn from other students as well. It is also incredibly inspiring to be at such an event with so many like minded people, and actually meeting artists or instructors that you follow.
      I only provided coverage for the workshops so I can't say much about the value of the Sketch Pass which is US $260.
      The main downside is the symposium is a ticketed event and even the sketchwalks which are supposed to be free are not. But I don't think non-paying sketchers will be chased away from joining the sketchwalk though. So the Sketch Pass really is just one way, in my opinion, to raise funds for the symposium because it is expensive to host such a big event. But of course there are many other activities available to the Sketch Pass holders too, it's just that I did not cover them so I can't say much.
      For another perspective, check out this video from Taria

      In my understanding, the workshop pass is a superset of the sketch pass, i.e., the workshop pass gives you everything the sketch pass gives, plus 3 workshops.

    Are the symposium's free to the public?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  Год назад +1

      Only the last sketchwalk is public. The sponsor booths are accessible by public. Opening and closing, workshops and lectures are ticketed.

    Hi Theo do you mean that each workshop costs $450? Or is the $450 the price of access to every available workshop?

    Are the passes for all workshops or do we have to buy a separate pass for each workshop?

    • @teohyc
      @teohyc  Год назад +1

      The USk symposium workshop pass will let you take 3 workshops that you choose.
      There are other international sketching events that I've been to that lets you buy specific instructor workshops.
