    I don't do model railroading, (I'm infected by a disease known as diecast plane collecting) but i love New Mexico and train shows.

    Hi JC. always great to see younger guys begin to take an interest in o gauge railroading. Most of my collection is post war, but there's also some pre war mixed in as well. I've always been partial to o gauge trains because they are simpler to maintain and service. But however you do it, Happy Railroading! New subscriber, btw!

    This was exactly me and my family the last 2 years. Just moved to a different Province here in Canada, and found out about the local model show. been about 6 years since i went to one. My dad was the one to get me into modeling, and he said we should go and look. i brought maybe 200 cash with me, and that was what i was planning to use. to say we went over budget was an understatement. i ended up spending 600$ on cars and a loco, my dad ended up spending 400 on some Diecast equipment and a loco, and my brother who doesn't model ended up spending 300 on a Canadian Pacific Loco and Shunter he liked.
    Last years show, i went with just my brother, and he said and i quote "ill bring 200, and that's your budget" and i laughed and said ill match it. well he was walking around and found 3 locomotives he liked since he was getting recommendations on RUclips for Modeling videos due to what i was watching lol. long story short, we walked away with almost 4 boxes worth of stuff again, 5 locomotives, and about 500 over budget between he 2 of us.
    This year, im just going to say a low number, since what's going to happen is we will probably go double whatever i say lmao Hope you had a good time.

      That’s a great story! Lol. Same for me. I always preorder stuff through out the year and I always tell myself to stay under budget for train shows so I can cover the cost of my preorders so I have have an easy conscience and then boom the bed of my truck is full lol. I like that you got your brother into trains. That really cool that you can share a hobby with your family. Its similar to that with my fiancé. My fiancé is always wanting to learn about the hobby and fully supports my addiction lol. We enjoy watching train videos on RUclips now. Now my two boys are obsessed with trains. It’s only going to get more expensive when they can actually start collecting trains for their own collection. When I was a kid I burned a whole in my parents pockets when we went to train shows.
      Thank you for watching my video too!

      @@modelrailroadingthesouthwest Im supporting my brothers addiction this weekend actually. hes a sledder (slang for snowmobiler here in Canada) and hes taking us to a swap meet for some parts and to chat with the community out here. supposed to be 300 people trading, selling and just chatting about the snow and when itll be here. and loved the video as always. right now im trying for the life of me to make a 1/87 scale RC, and its painful to say the least, but im still trying! Have a good day JT

    I am going to take a guess and say the GE Rio Grande loco isn't scale because of the swinging pilot and its ability to negotiate such tight curves. However, I hope by subscribing to your channel that you can make some sense of the O scale world and help the rest of us in the process do the same. I haven't had any O scale/gauge trains for over 60 years, so, I lost track of the market a while ago!

    • @modelrailroadingthesouthwest
      @modelrailroadingthesouthwest  9 месяцев назад

      I will have a lot more O gauge/scale content in the future. I already have a couple new pieces of rolling stock that I will be introducing to the channel. I am definitely going to build an o gauge layout. Look out for that content in the future. Thank you for watching and subscribing! I am doing a ton of research so that I can be well educated in future videos.
