Definitely [ A } TLM 102 !! Can't understand how anyone can here Rode NT1 as a better Mic over the TLM. 102 . Puzzles Me !! .
Both sound good and so for now I keep the NT1a even though in other comparisons the TLM 102 sounded a little bit more polished and professional. You have a good sounding voice so that probably helped too. :D
Agree. Both sound good. Thanks for the compliment. Voice and room matter as much as the mic.
Mic B is far more coloured, sounds good with speaking, but for singing, I'll choose A over it any day.
I like Mic B but they sound pretty close.
MIC B= NT1a / MIC A = TLM102
I prefer Mic A and I guess its the TLM 102 because it sounds more natural, the Mic B sounds EQ boosted in the highs and mids so I guess its the NT1a
You are correct. Thanks for watching!
A = Rode, B = Neumann
A= TLM102 B = NT1a 😎
Hey Paul, thank you so much for yout video!
I have a Rode NT1A and I'm thinking of upgrading to a less "bright" microphone, better suited to my high voice. At first I was thinking of a LTM 102, but from what I hear in your test, I think the sound of the LTM 102 is brighter than in the Rode NT1-A. Is this correct? Also, I read on the internet that the LTM 103 is also "brilliant". What do you think? I don't know if to drop the idea of one of these Neumann... Thak you again :)
I’d check out the NT1 (without the A) or maybe even the new King Bee II. The TLM 102 is great, if it’s for VO, the 416 from Sennheiser is great as well.
@@PaulMDiaz Thank you for your answer. Indeed, it's only for the voice over. I will look at the other options :) Thank you for your answer!
The tlm103 is less bright and fuller on the low end.
I like Mic B
MIC B= NT1a / MIC A = TLM102
Has it been revealed yet
Mic A is the TLM102! Thanks for watching
B is batter. If A is tlm 102, I think it’s placed little more distant than rode nt1a.
Same distance. I was surprised as well. To me and what I hear is the room/mic combo makes a difference.
Paul, I'm commenting on another video just because it might help get your videos up considering how the RUclips algorithm works. Just a few more questions if you don't mind:
1) For VO, is it worth paying extra for the TLM 103 over the 102?
2) What are your thought on the Aston Origin or/and Spirit if you happen to have any.
Again, much thanks! -Sergey
The TLM is a very open mic in terms that it is not very forgiving if your room isn’t treated well. Definitely brighter than the 102.
As for the Aston, I have not experience with them but they have my attention based on the sound I’ve heard on other reviews. Also, Lewitt has some nice offerings. The 540 seems to be in the same ballpark as the TLM103 when it comes to sound, from what I’ve heard. If you have a well treated room, those mics would probably be great. If you have an average sounding room, I’d invest in the room before another mic.
@@PaulMDiaz Right on. Funnily enough, I have the Spirit, the Origin, the Worker Bee (and another one is on the way). I bought the mics because they were on a discount I'll be honest with you. My train of thought was like this: a cell phone is an extension of us, humans these days. So is a mic. Why not invest into them. Pretty weird, eh? My interface is BabyFace Pro. And the best part is that my room is not treated and I do do know that the "better" the mic, the worst sound I will get if my room is not prepared to handle it. I will treat my room (or build a booth) and work on my voice. Gear is secondary, I realized that, but I just can't stop buying mics, can't help it. I am fascinated by the fact that I can capture my voice or any sound for that matter. Oh, sorry for the rant, just wanted to share. As far as the 540 - no doubt, it's a beast and I like the sound of it! But Neumann is Neumann, so I don't really know. I can buy the 102 or the 103 and I am just debating which one I should go for. And yes! A mic is chosen for the voice of the artists, so I do understand how pointless my question really is. Ha. Anyways, I still appreciate your replies, hope you made it to the end of this wall of text.
@@EnglishEloquenceMoscow yeah, I understand. Mics are addicting, I’ve owned a bunch. And I agree, Neumann has their sound. The Mk4 actually has a bit of that sound (makes sense, Sennheiser owns them) at a great price. I personally don’t and won’t own a TLM103 unless I had a booth or better treated and control area. That doesn’t mean you can’t use one with good results in a walk in closet for example or some other home hack to control the sound. It’s a great mic. Very sensitive to plosives and mouth noise too.
@@PaulMDiaz Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I will keep in in mind. Again, much appreciated man!
Vote is for Mic B.
MIC B= NT1a / MIC A = TLM102
I’m listening on iPad Pro. Mic B has more Body and is the most pleasing. Surprised it’s the NT1A. That was the old Mic I used! Currently using Lewitt LCT540S.
How do you like that 540? From the samples I’ve heard, I like what I’ve heard.
Mic B for me on your voice - it has a rounder top and more solid mids.
MIC B= NT1a / MIC A = TLM102
MIC A.
A
Neumann best microphone🎤
b
NT1a
Mic b has less sibilance and a more round low end
It’s the NT1-A. A bit surprising
Really! I have the TLM 102, and I use it capture intimate vocals like r&b or whisper singers because it does such a great job with the low end.
@@reesesmith4902 the 102 is a great mic.
Mic B sounds more balanced - less 'essss' ....
MIC B= NT1a / MIC A = TLM102
