Truly stunning Kevin. The mixtures of warm and cool colors create a sense of crisp air of an on coming evening. Giving the viewer a sense of standing on the wet sand- watching the sunset as the crashing waves come upon the shore. I can feel the mist , and hear the sound of the crashing waves. Brilliant meditative composition and hues that show nature in all it's beauty. Thanks for sharing.
I don’t think I have seen anyone better than Kevin at painting waves . He is fantastic . Maybe one or two as good but nobody that I have seen is better . Wonderful ability and talent he has . Terrific at explaining what he is doing too . Just love watching him paint . An inspiration .
Beautiful Kevin! The subtle variation of light and dark values of this seascape make it a peaceful scene. The softness of the evening light is complimented by multitude of values by mixing the primaries in various combinations. Each hue muted by it's compliment , really creates a brighter neutral. The sun emphasized with surrounding colors of red and yellow. You have captured the movement of the water as if driven by the wind. The wave cascading toward the direction of the shore, a beautiful glow of the transparent crest. Nice soft and hard edges and using the surrounding local color. Highlights in the mass foam where the light source is and shading gives the foam depth. Very nice details with the linear foam patterns. The distant headlands break up the horizon and give interest. Beautifully rendered rocks give structure, tone and color to the composition. Very detailed shoreline-leading the eye around the composition -rendering a hyper-realistic impression. As the sea with it's waves and swells are an important part of painting an ocean scene, I learned alot, you emphasized much on the method of creating the crest, the top of the wave cascading over, giving the illusion of water movement, light and shadows. Thanks for a great lesson, stop and look at the sunset, as they are forever changing. Luv watching you bring the blank canvas to life. Brilliant.
Wonderful lesson as always Kevin. Your way of teaching is so simple. You have a way of not letting me feel afraid to try things. You're a great teacher and artist. Thank you once again for your time.
Btw, Kevin this painting is so beautiful, I luv the soft values in the sky. The waves are amazing, so realistic. I want to walk right into them. Great lesson, very detailed, I learned alot with your explanation, and the close ups of you painting ad well. That 3/4 brush-amazing...many uses, great chisel edge, and spring. Martin Gimenez Hi Martin, lol..I assure you, "I am not" a part of Kevin's staff. I have been watching him from his very first video. I am not in good health, and Kevin inspired me to learn how to paint. I found art to be very therapeutic, and it has given me something to look forward to. I also have many of his works, they are beautiful in person, and they take you places without leaving home. My comments are sincere, I have found a passion, and thank Kevin for his aura of passion, his motivation, sharing his technique, and his beautiful compositions. Hope this helps....
Excellente'...exceptional work, thx so much the tutorial presented so pleasantly, as if all.. in everyone invited to paint with yourself sublime landscapes. 👏👍🖒👌👊
Beautiful! Breathtaking, ( if anyone wants to learn the sky) , and waves, have a look at Kevins DVD posted here of Sunset Surf, the palette is similar, and if you want to learn the color mixing Kevin covers that in the DVD for Sunset Surf. Kevin goes in great detail with close up shots in painting the seascape. Many artists sell their DVDs for 50.00 and more, and I have a few..lol, I can honestly say, Kevins DVDs, his technique, his commentary , and his paintings are the best out there. Really, if you want to know how to.prime canvas, color mixing to achieve natural greens, supplies and so much more, his DVD for beginners will answer so many questions, you will really learn his method, and can create your own scenes. It's a must have, I think you will get the concept, and answer most of your questions, and problems your having. Have a look, there aren't many DVDs out there for his price, in fact I can't find any, moreover, he is the best, his work, technique, teaching, just look how beautiful they are. You will learn blending, depth and more...add some flowers, poppies to foreground, the possibilities are endless with DVD #4 for beginners scene. Release ur creativity, learn, have fun, and paintwithkevin.
