Ashen is incredible (my aoty from 2023), but it feels a bit much, just a massive wall of sound that to me was not as enticing as its predecessor. Valde seems more 'complete', the perfect combination of riffs, slower moments, melodic moments, etc. peak HLB, imo.

Knocked Loose reminds me of Slayer in that I didn't really care for them at first, but once the vocalist grew on me, I fell in love. Really looking forward to this coming album!

Just a heads up Nik, this album and the Upon Loss singles were produced and mixed by Drew Fulk - Putney did awesome work with them all the way through to A Tear in the Fabric of Life which was unreal but the change up in sound was a great move for these recent releases
I think “the tables..THRNNNED” was still the heaviest line in KL but this is like right up next to it pretty much tied because of how hard the instrumental punches
That chorus is monstrous, I love it. The mix is great too, it sounds so killer. This track is better than Blinding Faith imo - although the breakdown in Blinding Faith goes insanely hard. This album is gonna be nuts.

I don't know who bullied Brian in high school, which girl rejected him when he was young or which person cut in front of him in line at the grocery store, but Brian has been really mad a them and he has been taking out of his anger out in our ears, more and more.
It's Isaac. There is just something about that guy that oozes metal riffs at a whole new level. I try so hard not to have goosebumps when listening to his work.....yet I always fail.
I did some experimenting around with my guitar and amp and pedals to find out how they made the guitar sound like explosions, and here it is Amp: gain set to max (obviously), treble set to max (less obviously) bass set to max (less obviously), middle set to middle (just because with it being zero I couldn’t get the tone) Guitar: every time the guitar makes explosion sounds, it’s because of the following: inverted/improper power chords, where sometimes the 6th string is only 1 fret ahead of the 7th, or even on the same fret, pretending they are in drop tuning. And finally, use only half-ass mutes instead of fully muting the strings.

Not sure what the comparison is here. Code orange and knocked loose have almost nothing in common, besides them both being hardcore bands.
