Bravo!!! These are awesome! Did you use any kind of glass separator like kiln wash? I did a test and found I didn’t need it - maybe I got lucky? Can I ask how hot you fired these?

Thank you so much! And Oh wow, really, no kiln wash?! Yes, I used kiln wash, and the weirdest thing happened - it bubbled up and crumbled off on it's own after the firing, making a real mess. I cooked them at 1275F . My schedules are hard to pin down because I layer them in the kiln, and so different levels get different amounts of heat. Often shooting myself in the foot that way, but I like to live on the edge. haha

That was the white paint from the tile that came off after your first firing… Happens all the time. I usually use my shop vac with a brush attachment and vacuum that off. I’ve not fused anything flat on the tile yet, but instead I carved a hole and fused a glass puck inside the hole at full fusing temperature and it popped right out without any kiln wash. I’m going to do a whole lot more experimenting because I still feel like I just got lucky. I’ve had so much going on that I haven’t had a chance to experiment as much as I’d like. I have so many ideas for this stuff! Thanks again for sharing!

Hi Kelly, thank you for publishing all these great videos! Quick question, I see you are firing these panels in an oven with no element on the top but other similar pieces you do place in oven with element on top. Which pro's and cons do you find? I am about purchasing an oven and I'm all confused... thank you so much!

I eventually bought a glass kiln with the lid elements. It's much better for glass because everything is heated evenly, where as when stacking them different areas would get sometimes vastly different temps. The glass kiln only goes to about 1800F though, so I can't use it for ceramic firing.

@@allcreaturesLA Hi Kelly, i translated it into Celcium and it makes 982 C. I wanted to ask you what you put on the kiln shelf , so that glass does not stick to it, in case it runs, and also, what is the firing cycle (the temperature curve temperature-timing) you use? thank you so much!
