RUclips Poops were golden during my childhood. Compared to the cringe and monstrosity we see or hear now on TikTok, RUclips Poops had this very special charm to them and it's humor at it's peak. And yes who can forget the whole "Sus", "SaaS", "Soos", "Sauce", used in every RUclips Poop imaginable. Then Gen Z and TikTok came in and ruined the word "Sus". Which is now correlated to a certain low budget Newgrounds Flash Game made in 2005 with character designs that looked like they were made by a bunch of preschoolers stupid looking mobile game known as "Among Us".
Languages are changing at a very fast pace nowadays, especially at the lexical level. I'm curious to see if at 80 I'll understand young people's English (or any other language)
I wonder the same. Slang and forms of language changed either regionally and slowly before the internet. The internet has created instant/fast forms of communication that can reach globally. Words and slang are now able to go viral very quickly.
@@drumman22 True. One problem with globalization is that now we can all share the same information with each other. It's not necessarily bad, but idioms, terms in local languages and traditions die from this unbridled desire to speak English and be open to the world :/
As someone who is stuck approximately 150 years in the past, I can tell you that I did not understand a word of modern slang in this video. This was a genuine learning experience for me
The "Ohio" meme seems very similar to a meme we've had in Russia for more than a decade now, although it was "Chelyabinsk", not "Ohio". The "Chelyabinsk" meme originated in comedy TV sketches "Nasha Rasha", in 2007, where, in each intro to the sketches about "the first ever homosexual factory worker", a narrator would give some outlandish examples about some weird things that people do "only in Chelyabinsk".
Same in Brazil with Rio de Janeiro or Acre Rio de Janeiro because we meme about Rio being the crime state, that if you live a day in Rio, you're god And Acre because Dinosaurs, and the Kid from Acre (that I have no idea who it is and what he did)
tiktok ruins things and this video is actually so accurate. I do like using L, W, Mid, Goofy and Bruh though, especially "bruh", it's the one term that will never get ruined.
The concept of “African american vernacular english” is bullshit Dialect isnt specific to skin color or ethnicity or owned by a dialect or ethnicity Unless someone is doing some cringe shit like putting on a fake accent or mockery accent the way you speak is a product of where youre from and how you grow up
Non-slang words meaning: Ratio: a relation between two amounts showing the number of time one value contains or is contained within the other. Slay: kill an animal or a person Queen: King's wife L: L means lose instead "loser" Mid: short meaning of "Middle" part Dream: your thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person's mind during sleep. Among: being a member of a larger set i mostly google it just to sake putting this comment lol

Slang isn't a huge problem. It's one of the process how languages develop. The problem is if a slang word is being spoken by a certain age group and few persons who doesn't know that word, they'd get bullied like it's a big deal.
"bro thinks" and shit like that goes hard af, now the people who make sure to include "bro" "fr" with a skull emoji and/or a sob emoji in every message are straight BOTS
Munch meaning: Munch slang is a type of slang that is often used by people who are involved in the BDSM community. The term “munch” is short for “BDSMmunches,” which are informal meetings that are held by people who are interested in BDSM. These meetings are often used as a way to meet new people, or to socialize with other people who are interested in BDSM. - Bing
Honestly so much of the "Gen Z slang" is just African-American Vernacular English that has been co opted by tik tok. It is just very strange to hear something my auntie has always said be called "gen z slang"
In mathematics, a ratio shows how many times one number contains another. For example, if there are eight oranges and six lemons in a bowl of fruit, then the ratio of oranges to lemons is eight to six (that is, 8:6, which is equivalent to the ratio 4:3). Similarly, the ratio of lemons to oranges is 6:8 (or 3:4) and the ratio of oranges to the total amount of fruit is 8:14 (or 4:7).
4:03 so there was this kid in my class who just would not stfu, and i starten do notice a bunch of really easily recognisable patterns in how he spoke and i started to write them down, in about two weeks i cracked the fucking code and got his whole ass dialouge tree in a flowchart that i showed to my classmates to get confirmation of its accuracy, and, eventually, showed it to the kid. as of now, he speaks in harder to recognise patterns if there are patterns at all

When memes leave Reddit or any other degenerate site, it stops being funny. Like, when kids at my school started saying “only in Ohio” or “ratio” and “menace” it really just stopped being funny to me.
I missed when the memes were actually funny now we have shit like "only in Ohio" or "l+ratio" like it was funny the first time but when it's over used it's not funny anymore.
Slay is an archaic word that meant "to violently kill". Now it's used as some quirky girly slang like, "YAS QUEEN SLAY!" Or something. It also went from a verb to an adjective.
Not only words, but actions in general. I can't even eat a goddamn banana without getting looked at weirdly. Even saying BANANA is weird. I miss being pure
Bro is a very old term, I see younger boomers saying it, my dad says it AND HE'S 62 but he means bro as a very good friend and the meaning has changed from good friend to a male person you see like *why*
Slay is old. Like…70s. It started in NYC drag circles back in the day, particularly from Black and Latinos. It then became mainstream as of 2015 along with “shade”, “wig”, “snatched”, “tea”, etc.
I'm gen Z but not absolutely braindead. I mind my own business, rarely talk to people due to obvious reasons (for example: everything in this video), and actually have respect. I am never going to download tik tok.

You know kids stooped an all-time low when they make a "slang word" after a literal state people live in. I find it as a disheartening coincidence because I've been planning to move there for months and am finally there, I feel like I'm straying away from people I used to talk to because of this "meme", sometimes things that come up shows people's true colors and it's best to avoid them and focus on the now. Sorry I sound stupid or something, I've been bottling it up.
You're overthinking it, it's just a bunch of kids jumping on the bandwagon that a state they've never been to is supposed to be like what florida actually is, it's still annoying though lol
Its a joke, since not a lot of people have been to Ohio anything could be happening over there and most people wouldn't know. People who take it seriously don't get the joke. Its like how we say Wyoming doesn't exist. It probs does but most people have never been there before.
Some kid keeps calling me npc even though the only thing he does is kick my chair if I sit in front of him and call me an NPC, sometimes with his friend. Litterally the same, every single day. I’ve learned to ignore it.
Munch(verb): to eat food Slay(verb): To kill in a violent manner Menace(noun): a devious or villainous person Ratio(noun): A comparison between two mathematical quantities NPC(noun): Non-playable character; a character in a video game that is AI controlled Bozo(noun): an informal term for a stupid person, may stem from Bozo the Clown Goat(noun): A domesticated species of the genus Capra, in particular Capra hicus Drip(verb): To slowly leak, especially when referring to a liquid in a tube
Technically if knowing what NPC meaning, for others you're not playable character but they're thinking that NPC meaning something that acts like npc, or having crap reaction. Or they're just likely forget or doesn't know what thing it is.
offtopic but kinda relates to one of the slang words: there’s a thing in cars (excluding electric cars) called “gear ratios” (e.g. Final Drive, Reverse, 1 - 6+). A higher gear ratio means more acceleration at the cost of more speed, a shorter gear ratio is the opposite. In usual cars there are 6 to 8 gears in a Transmission, optimized for the car. A slow car will have a higher gear ratio, while a faster car will have a shorter gear ratio.
TikTok really ruins basically anything that the community comes across. I hate seeing young people of the age of 10-12, for example, go onto their phone and the first thing they’ll pull up is TikTok and start recording. I hate seeing people in my grade look like 16 year olds and talk about boyfriends/girlfriends, etc. As a 13 year old, I really refuse to download that app, it has ruined everything and the people on it can be either toxic or over exaggerating.

In mathematics, a ratio shows how many times one number contains another. For example, if there are eight oranges and six lemons in a bowl of fruit, then the ratio of oranges to lemons is eight to six (that is, 8:6, which is equivalent to the ratio 4:3). Similarly, the ratio of lemons to oranges is 6:8 (or 3:4) and the ratio of oranges to the total amount of fruit is 8:14 (or 4:7).

offtopic but kinda relates to one of the slang words: there’s a thing in cars (excluding electric cars) called “gear ratios” (e.g.
