Defintiely appears to be across the board with FM24 at the moment. I feel like when the new game comes out there is going to be a huge influx of new viewership, but it's tough yards getting there. I watch everything of yours as I think yours are the best produced and most entertaining FM videos.
The only fm creator i can watch the whole video through really enjoyable content lad , hopefully one day you do a huddersfield rebuild keep up the content

You need to try the Canadian league. No weird rules like drafting or anything, but there's a rule that Under 21 players must play at least X amount of minutes for your team

I love managing in the MLS league. Salary caps, international players quota, buying and selling assets e.g. draft picks, international spots make it so much more interesting and difficult compared to bog-standard leagues. And then having to compete with Mexican teams with 10x the budget in the Champions league make it a whirlwind of a ride!
Great Video guys. I believe the rules in the MLS changed because of the expansion with Nashville and Inter Miami. 29 teams and they only play 34 games so some teams will only face each other once. I think... MLS is a headache
Why don't they just have an even number of teams and promotion and relegation and the new franchise start in lower leagues. You know, like everyone else
I love this so much! As an American I so badly want to see y'all do one of these competitions in an American sport game for the 4th of July as a joke. Watching both of you fumble through American football position names would be a blast. I also find it so funny how much non-Americans struggle with the concept of a draft when its so loved here. I totally get it, but it is funny.
@@omegadad for the most part, in all American sports leagues, your first contract in the league has to come through the draft. So if you're an 18-24 year old kid who wants to play a sport, you enter the draft and teams take turns picking players. Once you've been drafted and played for the team for your contract (or get traded), you can sign with whoever, but it lets bad teams have a chance to get good players (the worse you do the better your pick). The MLS is a little different because foreign professionals don't have to be drafted, but in the NBA even established European players have to enter through the draft. For the most part you can't refuse to play for the team that drafted you (a few people have gone to entirely different sports if they really didn't want to play for someone). A player who goes through the draft and isn't selected is usually called an Undrafted Free Agent (UDFA) and they're free game to be signed by whoever. One of the most fun things with trading players is that you trade their contract too, unlike in European football. So if you have a really good young player making peanuts, they're worth so much, but an overpaid player is nearly impossible to get rid of. In general only the top ~10 athletes in each sport have clauses in their contracts that let them veto trades. Anyway this video was a blast!
as an atlanta fan, my first fm saves were in mls and i remember how frustrating learning the rules were. i will say after the learning curve it ended up being super fun and the way i actually learned the rules for the league. props to you guys for learning more about the rules than the majority of mls fans lol

At 5:30, Emil Forsberg is not a Designated Player because his contract has been bought down with TAM money. Because of the limit of 2 senior DPs and 1 Young DP (making a total of 3 DPs), typically to have more high quality players, TAM is used to buy down big contract players so that these players can be registered as Senior Players and not use the DP slots.
Open Cup is not Golf specific, i think many forget the FA Cup is listed as an open cup, in that it is open for any team to enter whereas the League Cup is specifically set for X amount of teams

Some ideas for you and your dad over the coming months, i watch almost all your videos weekly and really enjoy your content. How about doing the pentagon challenge vs your dad. Maybe do a head to head but the the aim is to get your club out of debt while still being competitive (Man Utd vs Barcelona for an example) I’d personally like to see you both manage international teams (I know it isn’t everyone’s cuppa tea but with it being a tornament year people might be interested) Maybe do head to heads with teams like Brazil/argentina, England/france, Holland/belgium, Spain/portugal? And one I’d really like to see is again international teams but doing the pentagon challenge, manage teams across the world but the aim is to win the World Cup, Euros, AFCON, copa america, northern American and Asian cup.
I recently started a save where I managed in the MLS for the first time on any FM and found it all so confusing 😅 Annoying that everything with other MLS teams is a trade, all the different player registry stuff. Somehow satisfying seeing you now trying to get your head around it here too, haha.

great vid! as a philly native (going back to the fury in the nasl) i will play a mls save on fm. It is a different world. instead of 5 star wonderkids i spend hours looking for players who can fill a role at low cost. Having players on bad contracts can quickly put you in a mess. kutgw!
I did the pentagon challange on GM23, completed North America but never again will I manage in the MLS, you get used to it after about 3 seasons haha but it’s just mental, no need for it to be that complicated but hey that’s America for you 😂

As a MLS fan I did a save in the MLS and never knew the rules were so strict to a way. Max squad salary cap will increase each year. Also OmegaDad was smart with Forsberg not making him a DP. He’s probably on a senior contract making 46k a week. Similar to how Inter Miami is doing this season with Suarez and Alba. As long as you don’t go over the maximum squad salary cap you aren’t breaking the roles lol. I think the draft is players left on the wavier list. When I did a save when Toronto that was the draft.

I don't think the AI knows how the rules works either. So many times MLS teams have signed my reserve/u21 fodder from Europe and released them immediately.
@@OmegaLukeGaming what i meant is the inbox message you get does a very good job at explaining the types of contracts and their salary cap impact and tbh the cap is the only thing you need to worry about, people seem to overcomplicate things in their heads when thinking about MLS rules but in reality its no different than Spain or lower league England with there being a salary cap, there is only one thing you need to know and you figured it out yourselves, that GA money can be used to lower cap impact, you also figured out that draft picks are only good for trading 🤣

Its funny you talk about MLS names Luke. Go back in the league's history and you'll see much cooler names like Tampa Bay Mutiny or the Dallas Burn (before they became FC Dallas). I don't think the AI knows how the rules works either. So many times MLS teams have signed my reserve/u21 fodder from Europe and released them immediately.

@@OmegaLukeGaming what i meant is the inbox message you get does a very good job at explaining the types of contracts and their salary cap impact and tbh the cap is the only thing you need to worry about, people seem to overcomplicate things in their heads when thinking about MLS rules but in reality its no different than Spain or lower league England with there being a salary cap, there is only one thing you need to know and you figured it out yourselves, that GA money can be used to lower cap impact, you also figured out that draft picks are only good for trading 🤣
You should do a glory hunter in the South America/ America/ A-league (australia)

I've just had this email on my game sent on April 1st game time. In a display of incredible generosity, the qrexham board have decided to award me a sum of 500 million to spend on players and a new stadium. However this proved to be an April fools wind up from sports Interactive.

Its funny you talk about MLS names Luke. Go back in the league's history and you'll see much cooler names like Tampa Bay Mutiny or the Dallas Burn (before they became FC Dallas). Not a bad go for your first time in the MLS though! You should try El Trafico next time between LA Galaxy and LAFC. LAFC have started taking over Los Angeles, while LA Galaxy are obviously one of the most recognizable teams in the league. Can one of you return the Galaxy to glory? Or continue LAFC's dominance of the City of Angels
