its not like narcissists suddenly turn overnight. The husband would've known exactly how she behaves from growing up with her as his mother, yet he still didn't step in until far too late in the first occasion. Then he exposed his pregnant wife to more of the narcissist's bullshit by "trying to find a middle ground." Then on the second occasion, he didn't believe his wife and sided with the mother until shown proof. And then in the end, it still had to be the pregnant wife to have the balls to go no contact. Like yeah, congrats, he didn't side with his mother in the end, but his behaviour is hardly praise-worthy. I haven't listened to the story yet but i love how Op says that every day she and her husband get closer to meeting their 'little nugget' its so adorable.😍
Leaves me wondering what the bizarre gift was that the MIL gave.
I’m surprised this wasnt asked at all I was trying to scroll through comments and see if anyone mentions having seen it on the actual post dang
It was a bike-
@@Lea_1580 Thank you!
Yeah, if she keeps that behavior up, she won't ever see that child and will be intentionally excluded from the family events involving the child.
I’m 5 minutes into this video and I applaud op and husband for not telling MIL to stfu this about you.
I don't know if I'd be able to stop myself from telling the MIL that she isn't owed jack shit and that for all future announcements, she will be notified via public social media posts.
OP dealt with this with a lot more grace than I would have been able to muster.
OP's mom is such a badass
I need to see the videos of the baby shower 😃
I don’t get why the MIL was mad in the beginning, I mean they kept it a secret from everyone not just her. Like even the OP’s parents didn’t know till that day, it’s not like they’re excluding her and only her, nobody else knew before that.
Edit: Also definitely NTA the fact that she tried to claim to be the actually mother is just disgusting and terrible, OP was right for calling the cops. She definitely did not take it too far, she felt unsafe and uncomfortable and did what was best and it worked in her favour, OP is definitely NTA
Well remember, it’s “her baby because she gave birth to Gary and his sperm impregnated OP” 🤮🤮🤮 12:40
I am glad that you have the wholehearted support of your partner it’s far rarer than you’d think. And I hope he also appreciated your reciprocity when you made clear that while you and the baby would have no relationship with his mother he himself was still free to. It was also really touching to be able to get such a sense of communication between you, a sign of a healthy and happy relationship
Sounds like Barbara wants to be the center of attention by knowing the Grandchild first.
wait until she finds out op is in labor, runs to the hospital with a ton of home videos in her bag so she can show the doctor what it was like for her when she had her baby. I'm sure it will be a thrilling experience for everyone around. IF she wants to go the extra loony mile she'll then demand a paternity test on the baby
Yes, FINALLY a good, supportive husband!
I just hope they take security precautions now. If I know my narcissists, and I do, things are going to heat up from her after baby is born. Cameras everywhere!
If those videos are viral I would like to see them.
My time with my adult children is a privilege, not a right. Some of these ruby Frankie esq moms need to understand that at 18, you will never see them again.
Man they aren’t even trying to make these stories sound like things that actually happened to someone. I’m just now realizing that all the stories sound like they were written by the exact same person😂 every emotion and facial expression described is always “a mix of blank and blank” lol
Don't know why but everytime I hear Barbara, I imagine a Karen.
I think of those mac/sephora skits
This woman's mom is amazing for what she did at the shower
"Our little nugget" thats so cute.
Your mom is so protective! She cares about you and even would protect you by standing in front of you as a shield! BEST MOM
I’m glad the husband came around to understand the severity of the situation. I understand his initial reaction, and I believe that he did a great job showing his wife support
If I was the guest in that disaster of a shower, I would just get some food, drink, sit down and watch some entertainment...in the form of a train wreck of a MIL and OP....just have some fun......
Mil... NC for life, not seeing the baby, sent home permanently. No reprisals.
It's funny, when you read these creative writing projects, you can really tell whether the author was male or female.
What was the gift? I don't think the narrator actually says what it was...
fake story
I was wondering that, too.
I don't think the gift was ever opened.
I wondered that too. Probably fake
100% if the gift was so shocking they would have mentioned it, or said there was a good reason why it wasn't mentioned.
these stories are helping me improve my ability of spotting AI generated content.
@@plasmocat1863
I hope OP gave her hubby an earful for pushing to give MIL the babyshower after she said she wasn't comfortable with it... cuz he'd be having to work pretty hard to get back in my full good graces after all that
Mil is nuts, like get the padded room and stright jacket ready nuts
OP's mother is an actual angel!
My mom in LA calls my son her baby but it comes from a place of pure love and have been one of my biggest supporters, I really live that woman
Little nugget 🥺🥺🥺
I knew something was off when the MIL insisted of hosting the baby shower I hope OP, her husband and her daughter are having a good life
“I should have known from the start” time to start telling your MIL every time you have unprotected fun in increasingly graphic detail until she chills out
I'd like to listen to actual reddit posts, not bullshit written by an AI.
I would have walked out and inform the guest that the baby shower was canceled. Then I would plan my own shower with my friends and my mother, and NOT include the MIL
Op isn’t obligated to tell the MIL anything. Her son is. She needed to have that convo with him.
3:17 omg op had the audacity to to keep her own pregnancy a secret and make sure she was out of the danger zone so no one would get their hopes up and make the poor mil feel left out of HER pregnancy honestly
Your joking right?
@@Isabella-m4w yes I was joking
MIL is a sad beige mom…😬
Her saying her son's sp3rm made her pregnant is ridiculous for that op is going through the pregnancy not her
The start was so fucking wholesome that was one of the few times I felt the wholesomeness
I'm glad the husband is standing by his wife . I'm curious though ,as to what Mil's gift was .
I would press charges against mil . Tell hubby she’s not allowed anywhere near op or child go to court if you need too
OP seems like they’re going to be a great parent
FINALLY! A mom stands up to her daughter's bully!
I don't know why but the story sound like CHATGPT wrote it.
Well good for OP and Gary to find peace atleast.
dude W husband honestly. Gary is a gift to this world.
Like straight of the bat, it is impossible to mend fences unless op mil gives a heartfelt and sincere apology, acknowledging she was 100% in the wrong
Why wasn't OP's husband at the baby shower to begin with? It's his child too, plus he was the one to give MIL the okay to host the party against OP's wishes.
Also, MIL is totally batshit crazy. Smart to keep the baby away, she seems like the type to kidnap and say the baby is actually hers, not OPs.
Fake. Chat Gpt generated
NTA the MIL should've thought in her own perspective if her mother just wanted to name her son and didnt care because even if she was intoxicated she still had control of her own actions i hope that the relatives that werent there dont get caught up in who to believe
Op needs to set strong boundaries with MIL
girl this mil is so crazy
OP should have told MIL to take whatever ‘forgiveness’ she thought she had for her and shove it right back up whatever hole from which she had managed to excrete it 😒
So. There's this ad for Painter's Guild where Will (the boy, now man from Boy Meets World) pretends to be Bob Ross (ish) and they're all hilarious, but one was naming colors, and I've never wheezed so much.
One of the colors was called Barb's Revenge, and I feel like it'd look like a blend of the baby shower colors.
the pregnancy was giving The Christmas Prince 😭😭
Oh my god at the start it was straight out of the chat gbt hand book I’ve never heard a more ai written start, only for the start
Good that they're happy
6:20
Oh, Gary, Gary, Gary. You naive fool. I just started listening to this and I can already tell this is a bad idea.
Can we pls just talk abt how good the background looks?
Gary congrats! SpongeBob is a grandpa now
His mom would’ve had to see me once I dropped my baby. Because no ma’am
this was all because the mil didnt get the news of her pregnancy
The real question is, why weren't the men of the family at the baby shower? Its the father's baby too!
question: why do you think the men would want to be part of a bunch of women gushing over baby's clothes?
Baby showers are usually women only.
It’s just a societal thing that happens. My dad went to my moms baby shower granted I think she only had 1 baby shower not 3 for each
@@cullins401 I noticed that these days mothers tend to have more than 1 shower per baby, and for each baby they go on to have
Wow! Talk about a monster-in-law! Why didn't MIL just admit that SHE wanted to bear Gary's child?
The writing seems so AI 💀💀💀
It probably is😂
If the writing is too detailed and jam-packed with heavy words, especially when the “OP” focuses on emotion like it’s a writing piece, 9/10 it’s fake…
yah prob is, I got 2 reccomendation for channels ReallySparked (voiced by a real guy) and StoryLounge (they put ops user in the description)
I type/speak like this sometimes.
@@gabrielsfilms2086 thank you man!
When she said she's pregnant my dad and sis and me thought she said gary is pregnant 😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Oh my god.. that’s so messed up
They need to do a new baby shower :((
Also when she said for the name she chose she gave away the gender. Since shes in jail and if the baby still wasnt born yet mabey u coukd throw another baby shower. Also congrats on the baby❤😊
It has been written by an AI.
You can easily figure it out by the choice of words.
I have never, ever heard a human person describe a baby shower as elegant.
Agreed the syntax used is def AI.
If I hear “expressed” then I 100% know it’s fake
The last few sentences made me 100% sure. Sounded like the end of an essay.
@@sofiamoran8581 ya'll jumping to a conclusion that it's fake over the most barebones assumption/accusation possible, "expressed" is a pretty fairly common used word, yet literally any story that uses it is "fake" now ig despite having no way to prove it according to you? this generation is cooked, honestly 💀💀
That stress is going to murder the baby Beach
Wow like The mil thought she could name the baby? NAH IN YOUR DREAMS it’s there baby so they name it!
Bro the MIL is crazy she’s mad over not knowing even tho OP mom didn’t know about it either everyone but them were kept in the dark she’s acting like everyone knew but her
IF PPL START TO FILM LET THEM. If cops arrive you’ll have evidence of everything someone’s been doing to warrant cop involvement.
Op is an English major damn
Tell MIL, contact will be limited until after the baby is born.....like 6 months.
THANK GOD GARRY HAS A BRAIN ❤️❤️❤️👏. W mom. W OP. W.Garry.
Your friends should have given you a real baby shower to make sure you have a good memory of your babies shower
i have never been more taken aback then when i heard the MIL say "i am the mommy of the baby" WTF
Would've suggested that we re-do the baby-shower, no gifts, take two. Just so OP could enjoy it and not have this memory as her first baby-shower. Poor Gary. :(
Congratulations on your baby
