Loved this video! Let me just add something though, for people watching. I highly recommend Zest It Pencil Blend. Do NOT use baby oil for artwork you plan on selling or lasting. Things like baby oil, nail polish remover are not archival, which means they will affect your artwork over time and most likely become discoloured and damage your artwork. Just letting whoever reads this know! I wasn't aware of this when i first started! :)
Wow. Her hair is stunning. I’ve had the Zest pencil blend for a while now, but haven’t had good results from it. I think I’m still not layering right, lol.
@@SUGAR_XYLER Well that depends on how you work and how you layer, I've tried it and now use it if I want to get big areas of flat opaque color but if you work with a LOT of layers the blend would actually kill all your efforts, and the artwork with it, so yeah, while it can save you a ton of time for certain effects its not suitable for everything
I have been meaning to buy zest-it but can't find it in the US. FInally splurged and got 3 bottles from Jackson's in the UK. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I have never used baby oil! But it might be worth a try- I have used gamsol solvent. Have you used that?
Amazing, my wife thought this was amazing as well. I just bought some Gamsol, odorless mineral spirits. I have not experimented with it yet, though I look forward to doing this. Great vid, gave ya a like.
I think that those spirits are just amazing! They give the colors so much vibrancy, I just love it :)) Very happy your wife thought it's great as well, say hi to her for me! :))
Mima, thank you so much for this tutorial and for giving the tip to make colored pencils pop on drawings! Your drawing looks so stunning! Especially the hair, it's gorgeous! I wanted to ask you if you would do a tutorial on how to color red hair the way that you did in this tutorial? It looks so beautiful and vibrant. I would love to learn from you and how you do it! :-)
You are so welcome! I am so happy that you found this helpful! :)) And thank you so so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it a lot! 🙏 I will definitely do some more detailed explanation on how to draw this, what I can say is that I have this drawing as well as a couple of other ones where I draw hair in real time, explaining every step of the way on my Patreon page :)) You can find it under this link: www.patreon.com/mimasartwork For just a couple of dollars per month you would get access to all of my real time drawing tutorials, scanned sketch, reference photos and a full lenght videos where I am explaining every step of the way :)) So if you ever decide to join in, you are more than welcome!! :))
@@MimasArtwork thank you! I think that I would interested to learn more as I am not familiar with your artwork. I am a colorist which is what attracted me to your video in the first place. Can you tell me where I can find you? Are you on Facebook or Instagram? Where can I find your artwork? Do you offer coloring pages for art that you have created? I look forward to your reply. :-)
Your arts are amazing I love your art it helps me as well thankyou so much I’ll be supporting you 💕 Seriously I’m really surprised how good this looks I’ll try this as welll you really think everything I loveeeeeeeeeeee your tips 😍😍😍😍😊😊😊😊😊
Wow this picture is STUNNING 🤩 would you be so kind to tell me the color names you used to create this hair? Also, will the hair come out the same if using white paper?
Oh I used quite a few colors, you have a real time drawing tutorial on my Patreon page of this drawing, if you'd like, feel free to check it out :) www.patreon.com/mimasartwork
beautiful work, just a bit of constructive critique not to hurt but to point out where it can be improved since you work in photo-realism and it is always easier to see such points from a side, the hair separation area needs improvement as it makes hair look like someone slapped a bad quality wig on her head, but the hair itself looks great, I might give the blender another go as I didn't like how flat it made my colors look, but maybe its because I don't work with Prisma as I hate the wax bloom it develops over time
You can burnish. Depending on the paper quality and pencils used, you won't get quite the results as with a solvent. I've used the Prismacolor Colorless Blender pencil and had spectacular results, though, but it took ages to do (to be fair it was a huge poster with a lot of details). I've also used odorless mineral spirits and the result was brighter and the blending much faster. I have mild arthritis in my hands and can't always burnish.
Oh, that's a very big task, hope you are going to manage to do this! :) Imagination makes it perfect :)) If I get inspired to work on that, I will post it here :))
You can use it for practice, the issue with baby oil is that is not archival, so if you use it for practice, that is good enough, if you want to work on commissions for example and sell your originals, that means that using zest it or something better even will work better cause they preserve colors. :) hope this helped! 🥰
quick tip... you should of posted the name of the product. ZEST it and where to get it... otherwise we have to rewatch video to get product name.. hint hint
Wow, absolutely stunning. I’ve literally ordered some of the zest it before I’d even finished watching your video. Your work is amazing 💕
Oh wow, I am so happy to hear this! Thank yo uso much for watching this video, and thank you so much for your such kind comment ❤
Stunning. Absolutely stunning. Beautiful blending and beautiful color choice.
Thank you so much, very happy you like it :))

I agree with you 100%! I used the baby oil only for the practice, but it's the best to use the zest it if you plan to sell your work :))

@@Tami24945any odorless mineral spirits will work exactly the same way
Wow, one of the best tutorials I have ever watched!

Super cool. Drawing looks awesome👍. Each drawing looks better and better.🙂🙌

@@MimasArtwork No problem.🙌
Absolutely stunning. Would any colour pencils have the same effect please as the ones you use are out of my price range.
I think so, yes, as long as you use a blending medium, as they always make the color look much more opaque :)

Thank you for sharing your technique.
Can u put color over the zest it if u think it needs a little lighter or darker?
Of course! Once it gets dry, after about 15 mins, you can layer the colors over it with no issue :))

So beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much! ☺️☺️
have you tried mixing baby oil and zest-it to cut down on the smell to prevent head ache?
I never tried mixing them! :) I will definitely have to experiment and try it out :) Thank you for the advice!
I have zestit pencil blend on order, great drawing BTW 😍
You will see how much you will enjoy working with it, it blends the colored pencils so well! :))
You helped so much
I am very happy to hear that, glad this helped! ☺️
Wow wow wow wow , so beautiful ❤️❤️
Beautiful Hair Drawing I have ever seen Wowww 😍😍😍👌👌👌
Nice work 👍.
Thank you so much!! :)
Can u list the colors you used for the skin tone it's very beautiful!
Beautiful skills 👍👍👍
It's working in canvas painting with pencil colour?
I am not sure how drawing with colored pencils on canvas actually works, I always use paper for my colored pencils portraits :)
yes it does but takes A LOT MORE of pencil and not suitable for all color pencil tecniques
Baby oilis not archival..
You should be a art teacher you so good at this and your so modivating
Can you tell us what color numbers used for the hair please
Wow this picture is STUNNING 🤩 would you be so kind to tell me the color names you used to create this hair? Also, will the hair come out the same if using white paper?
If you want to get exactly the same effect then no white paper won't, as the white paper makes work brighter
What was the thing you used for blending
i lake you and your work nice 😘😘
What colours did you put on the face please

Honestly I am not sure, I think you can order it over amazon :)

What was the medium you used for blending
"Zest it"
Mimas, have you ever used watercolor pencils and what do you think of them?
I used them and I absolutely love them! I mostly used Caran d'Ache Luminance and Prismacolor ones, I will upload a video about them very soon :))
Oooooooh I love it. Is there any way we can send you like fan mail?
Which company colour pencils are these.plz tell me
Prisma color premier, also I think she mentioned fabre castel polychromos, tho i dont think ive seen her using them but maybe its my bad looking
Omg you the best
Which sheet ?
I don't want to use solvent. What can I do instead? Use burnisher?

Wow it looks more real hair than real hair and we can also use any other solvent
