I'm Chippewa/Ojibwe from northern Minnesota....Red Lake. My mom was an RN at the old hospital in Keams Canyon back in 1986 & 1990. We made many friends there. We heard Hopi spoken almost every day. Our friends couldn't speak it but they understand it. My sister had 5 kids w/ my brother-in-law. He was from 3rd mesa... Hotevilla. He was very fluent in speaking Hopi. My sister spent so much time listening to them talking everyday, she could understand Hopi. My nephew spent the last 15+ years living with his Hopi side of the family. He can understand Hopi but can't speak it fluently.
yess, keep pursuing, and try to get this application taken care of!! my father is a hopi teacher and teaches to the hopi youth in our schools, but he's very limited on what he can teach, and also what the students are wanting to learn. anyways, good luck!
It sounds like a good idea. But, I have been studying various languages and I have used apps but they don’t work for me. Yes, it helps with vocabulary but that is mainly it. Maybe a app might get the youth interested and hopefully pursue additional methods to learn Hopi.

I have always known myself as white but after a recent DNA test found out I’m Mesoamerican and Andean which is Native this began my search.

Great idea!!! Would love to help. I wonder if Lessons in Hopi by Milo Kalectaca could give some source material in terms of lesson plans.

Half or whole it doesn't matter. I was raised traditionally on the reservation educated by elders.
