@danbrown565 You can kind of figure them out if you pause at 3:00 . 1) Tri-Disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV) 2) Offensive Screen (COM/COM/SEN) 3) Solidarity (COM/MED/SEN) 4) Smart Bomb (SAB/RAV/RAV) 5) Dirty Fighting (SAB/COM/SEN) 6) Strategic Warfare (SYN/COM/SEN) He starts off with (4), as soon as Slow, Deprotect, and Deshell are on Attacus, switches to (1) and blasts away until 300%. The moment it hit that, he went (2). Keep attacking, if debuffs are gone, go (5). Bah, Im basically saying the video D:
If anyone is trying this under 10k health (I was 9k), I just did finished it, and before seeing the ending as well so I only levelled up to 4 for major roles and lv1 for extra roles.... make sure you buff all the way before you start. Also, all my weapons were maxed out (🟊) but not the final form (i.e. Belladonna 🟊, Nimrod 🟊, etc.). Because of my low health, I had to have SEN at all times. Equip Fang with 3 physical defense (level maxed out), and rest of the character should have at least 1 physical defense maxed out, and 2 others should be equipped with increasing your attack/magic to expedite the process. This strategy took me about 12 minutes to kill it, and with 5 stars. Members: Light/Fang/Vanille RAV/SEN/SAB: start with this to debuff. Once all debuff is done switch to below and come back to this when debuff runs out. RAV/SEN/RAV: use this to build the gauge, and monitor health and break % before switching to/back to anything else. COM/SEN/MED: when health is low but still need to keep the gauge high, use this. This came useful when it uses Meditate(6:50). I recommend using COM over RAV because depending on how low your health becomes, you might completely lose on your built up gauge. MED/SEN/MED: If your health becomes severely low and you need to quickly recover, but use this with caution as if you switch too late, you will lose all of your gauge and it will go back to 100%. RAV/SEN/SYN: use this to buff your characters. One caution here is that if Vanille attacks too late, the gauge will reset to 100%. SYN/SEN/RAV: use this to buff your characters. You will rely on Vanille to give you buff while you maintain the gauge When your health is this low it's quite challenging... but I did it :\
For those who wanna beat him before leaving Ch 11 use this method. I had only a level 4 fang, lightning and snow. Snow's max HP was only a little over 10000. I just strengthened lighting and fang and used defensive accessories on snow (ceramic band, black belt and diamond bangle). Start with SAB/RAV/SEN and SYN/RAV/SEN (keep snow as sen the whole battle) Use fang to debuff and buff. Up the stagger to 700 ish with RAV/RAV/SEN. Heal with MED/MED/SEN. Finish off with COM/COM/SEN. Took 10 min.
@leekazuo It's Fang's thing, when she's in Commando mode, at least. If you do at least 4 Attack commands in a row on one ATB bar, the last attack Fang does has the animation of her splitting her spear in two and striking with each end. It's her personal animation, like when Lightning backflips as she fires the gun portion of her gunblade
Fang: Finally a real challenge. That's what I was thinking too after getting tired of killing every wild monster in 5-10 seconds. After beating him using this strategy, the match was a cakewalk.
@Psycnosis bosses like this one, if you take to long then they will cast doom,in other words after you fight the first summon (shiva sisters) bosses will cast doom everytime you take to long (not all bosses though, only a few wont cast doom)
This video helped greatly. I beat him while still on Ch. 11, with only 2nd tier weapons. Based on the video I thought my HP needed to be higher. NOT THE CASE. Surprisingly easy with your strategy. Thanks for making and posting this video!
@MASTER LL: Thank you for the video, mate. It definitely helped - rav/rav/rav to drive stagger up to 420. When I went to com/sent/com with Lightning/Snow/Fang I was dishing 50k with Fang and 30k with Lightning. Snow never fell below 15K HP. Brilliant!
Thanks for this video guide - I'd beaten Attacus five times but could never manage a good enough time to get 5 stars. After following your battle team setup (loading Snow up with generals belts and super ribbon made the huge difference) I easily beat Attacus in just over 5 minutes and a very, very comfortable five star! Thanks again :)
I know this is retardedly old, but he’s not just a warrior who was made a Cie’th. He’s one of the Undying. Cie’th that have resisted ascending to their stone forms.
The elemental attacks you were bombarding him with at the beginning got him from 100% to 301%. After that, you went straight to attacking and then the guage stopped increasing from that point on. I think if you had kept going, you could have reached a high percent like 970%, then hold it there, Since each attack on the target makes the stagger gauge will refill to the highest point reached. I'm not sure yet. I've just never seen anybody stagger that guy. The closest I've seen is 840%.
Beat him in 10 min. (5 stars) with this strategy and i didn't have as high as your stats in the video (pertaining to health), thanks a bunch dude really helped me out.
@Tangvu lol, he doesn't cast it unless you spend too much time (I believe he always casts it after 20 minutes) Meaning, he is just as hard every time, and he always end up casting that spell if you are bad.
The first time I went against him he friggin doomed me because I was taking so long. This boss is just annoying, not hard, as his HP is so stupidly high.. I gotta try this method, great vid
I can confirm that you CAN stagger AND launch this guy. I was doomed and just as I had maybe 30 seconds left, he reached 999 and was staggered. Maybe you can only do it after he casts Doom. I don't know but I DO know tha strategy guide says he can't be staggered. Strategy guide also leaves out that he can cast Doom. :(
I never said anything about the other games. -And, come on now. It really is a 'Point A to Point B' game for the first couple dozen hours of game-play. Unless I missed something, you're always making your way to a way-point until you have the choice to delay the main story in Chapter 11 and, of course, after you finish the game. Getting to either part takes a considerable amount of hours.
Very helpful video! I tried about 10 times before I found this. I was relying on Ravagers way too much, I underestimated the power of my Commandos! I used all the same Paradigms however I haven't given any of these 3 synergist abilities so instead of Syn-Com-Sent i used Com-Med-Sent and it worked a treat! Thanks :)
Finally, I did it in 5:56! But my target time was 17:38. I think that's cause my weapons are tier 2? I read somewhere the stronger the weapons, the shorter target time is required which sucks.
i thought this fight was gonna be a nightmare, but he didnt cast doom, snow had 4 maxed out general belts, and i just beat this fool in 7:51. thanz for the help man good vid
For those wondering about his exact paradigm setup, order Fang, Light, Snow: Tri-Disaster [Rav,Rav,Rav] Offensive Screen [Com,Com,Sen] Solidarity [Com,Med,Sen] Smart Bomb [Sab,Rav,Rav] Dirty Fighting [Sab,Com,Sen] Strategic Warfare [Syn,Com,Sen] My characters wasnt as finely tuned but this tactic and setup worked like a charm for me, Fortisol+Aegisol before starting. 13, 12, and 19.000hp on my characters respectively. Instant-chain eq bonus@light didnt kick in on any of my tries. Might not work.
Three questions 1.) What is "Kill: ATB Charge"? 2.) Why did he raise the chain Gauge to 300% even though he had no plans to stagger Attacus? 3.) After he chose to stick with using COMs instead of RAVs, why did he use DeShell? THANK YOU!
I used Hope, Light, and Snow and got beat 3 times. the first time I staggered it up to 950 but got killed. the second time the dumb ass camera moved atticus off screen, and I didnt see him put the sword in the ground to charge up for a kill shot. I couldnt switch to back snow in time to absorb the attack ,so it was game over. the third time I got doom cast on me and the fight went down to the wire. I figured 3 more punches and I would have won, but I got killed by doom. I hate this battle.
@majinshenmue :) 1. Charge one ATB gauge upon defeat an enemy. 2. The value of a chain gauge indicates damage multiplicity of an attack against an enemy. So, it would be better if we raise the gauge and gain damage bonus for every attacks (in a long battle). 3. The commando role can use the spells ruin, ruinga which effectively damage an enemy inflicted with "deshell".
wow , I tried to beat this guy for the past 3 days couldn't do it , but this video I got 5 stars from the first try , I'd give you a respectfull handshake for this strategy thank u :)
Well it gets a little easier when you max those out but it's still pretty difficult since they're magic users and not like lightning with the Physical element attacks, but all in all I had fun fighting him.
@BoredAlways Well there is one time when one of the characters comment that if the titan simply "rolled over" it would all be over for them. So you can pretty much guess that you'd die pretty easily (1 hit?), unless you were given a chance to fly around and blast the titan. Even if you didn't fight the titan, he's probably going to be the largest living thing you'll ever see in the game.
I just beat this at a lower level. I had Vanille as party leader with maxed Marlbro wand, Fang with maxed Venus Gospel, and Snow with an unleveled Paladin. It was at the part where you still haven't gone to chapter 13, so I didn't have the last tier of the Crystarium. For paradigm, Fang is always Ravager & Snow is always Sentinel. Then Vanille has every role except Sentinel. Also had 2 Paradigms where Vanille is Ravager, so you can alternate between them for extra ATB refills. Start with Aegisol/Fortisol. Keep Deprotect & Deshell on boss at all times. Only buff you need to cast is Protectga on Snow (In later stage of fight, keep replacing it and healing snow as needed). When not doing those things, just be in Ravager. Last part of fight, Vanille was busy just switching between Sab, Syn, and Medic while Fang finished the boss. No need for any buffs later on, except Protectga on snow. Having it counteracts the boss casting Deprotect on snow. I never got doomed using this tactic. Accessories don't matter that much, but physical resist is good on snow and speed boost accessories are good on the attackers. I think Fang could be swapped out for someone else without causing any problem. Good Luck.
How did you do 30000 damage per hit.. or even more than that? I don't get it.. I have almost the same status as you.. And even with deprotect I do 8.000 , 10000 damage.. Can you explain me why? Fang and Light have 2000 STRENGTH!!! I also used Hope to protect, to heal our party.. and deprotect attacus. Did I do something wrong??
@billibu it is technically possible to stagger him if you get it that high. he will go into stagger status just like everything else but he should be dead before you even get near that point. I found this out by randomly getting "instant stagger" on his lesser counterpart "Wladislaus" who has the same stagger point. This guy is immune to instant stagger so doing that here isn't an option.
This mark wasnt that bad. I had a Sentinal draw its attacks, used the RAV RAV COM paradigm when its safe, made sure its inflicted with deprotect, and deshell, and heal and cast buffs on my team alot. The battle was lengthy but I had no problems. Good job, LL!
Woohoo! Thanks for the Video. There were some other videos available on how to defeat Attacus but non of them worked like this one! Paradigms were the same as the ones used here. Yet despite of the 2nd Tier weapons and Lvl 1 equipments I had, it was not too hard to do. Now I have the Genji Gloves. =)
@majinshenmue The stagger gauge just pushes an enemy 100% over their current % (rises with mosts attacks) when it is full. As well staggered enemies, for the most part, are susceptible to luanch and can be prevented from attacking by attacking them constantly. 300% in the stagger gauge (regardless if staggered or not) = x3 your normal damage, so it is wise to build and maintain high %'s in harder, longer battles
This mission can easily be done before finishing chapter 11. Without shrouds or instant chain. Fang with about 1500 st, hope and snow as sent. Keep snow in permanent sent, build chain to about 750, then smack him down. Took me just under 15 mins :)
@OmgItzaBunny When you manually select a set of attacks in the abilities menu, you can hold right to automatically repeat the abilities you selected. You can also do this if you shift paradigms and come back to it later. Works very well for healing spells and especially for buffing your allies. That way, if the enemy is immune to magic, you could just select haste and bravery and then just hold right for the other two people. Works very well instead of always letting auto battle do it.
@tb34h I don't like ff13 because of the new damage cap, I miss how it was 9999 and all that, everything was better at lv.99, hp:9999/9999, mp:999/999 and 9999damage.
There was one thing I wanted to ask though. I didn't equip any equipment that boosted my ATB charge but when I saw Fang hitting her gauge was charging. Why was that?
It's a Commando ability called Faultsiphon. When ever Fang, as a Commando, attacks an enemy that has a debuff on them (Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, Slow etc.) it slightly fills up her ATB Gauge with each hit.
Awesome video, it helped me so much. I might have been at a disadvantage without a synergist, since I didn't make Fang take that route yet, but with a 500% damage bonus..who needs one? 5/5, much deserved
My first time trying this boss. With Lightning, Fang, Hope. The fight was almost over 10 mins. Got his stagger percentage to 600%. 40% hp left. Then he did that whatever sword skill combo to Lightning, the party leader. Game over.......
@JakRipper187 Shouldn't need any ultimates for this fight. just use Fang, Snow and Lightning. Have a Sab/Com/Sen, Syn/Com/Sen, Rav/Rav/Sen, and Com/Com/Sen. Give Snow the Paladin or it's upgrade, and all damage reduction gear you have. He'll Mediguard throughout the fight, and won't need healing. Use Mystic Tower till he pulls out his first blade, then go after him with Offensive Screen. One of the easiest Undying Marks out there. Good luck!
See Your Crystarium.. Once you get on about the 10th stage (Last One) of the Crystarium you'll see Accessory (Orange-Yellowish small crystal, Non-Spiky) It depends On your character on which role its on E.g. Fang> Commando 10th Stage
Once again, I am only on Chapter 11, and I was able to beat Attacus using your wonderful strategy (Even though Fang's HP tops only at 10,000)! Thank you!
Wow... it must have been stun-locked to death at that point. But I can see what you mean now. Though you have only 2 people attacking while one defends/absorbs all the incoming damage, you end up with much more damage over time than what it would take to break/stagger him. Makes sense.
@xAznDr00117x I thought that the 300% more damage comes when someone IS staggered, and not while someone is in normal state. So if the 300% in a normal state represents 300% more damage, then what does 300% in a stagger state represents?
this makes no sense. I had his chain gauge at 600% i should be giving 10x more damage than you. And I only got his health a little below half before he killed me in one shot.
Took a little more than 11 minutes. To defeat him all you need to do is to debuff him with slow, deprotect, deshell and curse. Then relentless assault and solidarity if you need to heal. That's the cycle i did. i made sure that when he uses concentrate and meditate that i'm in solidarity so that the sen will take the hit.
I don't get why he starts off with Ravagers. Fang and Lightning are doing more damage as Coms than all 3 of them as Ravs and you can't even stagger Attacus.
I was fighting this thing And doing fine. Because I'm a low level right now I was taking it slow making sure not to die, and am patient with loing fights and don't mind. I get him down to 6 million and everything is fine BUT THE SUDDENLY HE CASTS DOOM ON ME! What the FUCK Am i meant to do?
@danbrown565 You can kind of figure them out if you pause at 3:00 .
1) Tri-Disaster (RAV/RAV/RAV)
2) Offensive Screen (COM/COM/SEN)
3) Solidarity (COM/MED/SEN)
4) Smart Bomb (SAB/RAV/RAV)
5) Dirty Fighting (SAB/COM/SEN)
6) Strategic Warfare (SYN/COM/SEN)
He starts off with (4), as soon as Slow, Deprotect, and Deshell are on Attacus, switches to (1) and blasts away until 300%. The moment it hit that, he went (2). Keep attacking, if debuffs are gone, go (5). Bah, Im basically saying the video D:
snow with x4 physical defense accessories makes him unkillable
I still play this game sometimes
playing it now
God dang, Lighting always lookn fresh with that backflip shooting.
Followed this strategy to a "T" and five-star'd it first try. Thanks a lot!
If anyone is trying this under 10k health (I was 9k), I just did finished it, and before seeing the ending as well so I only levelled up to 4 for major roles and lv1 for extra roles.... make sure you buff all the way before you start. When your health is this low it's quite challenging... but I did it :\
Out of all the advice on the internet on how to kill Attacus, THIS is the only way it worked for me. THANK YOU!!
this game and final fantasy 12 have the two hardest hidden bosses around in my opinion
For those who wanna beat him before leaving Ch 11 use this method. I had only a level 4 fang, lightning and snow. Snow's max HP was only a little over 10000.
I just strengthened lighting and fang and used defensive accessories on snow (ceramic band, black belt and diamond bangle).

Up the stagger to 700 ish with RAV/RAV/SEN.
Heal with MED/MED/SEN.

Perfect!!
Super helpful! The real annoying thing about this fight is it's so long, so if you mess it up like 8 minutes in near the end it doesn't feel good...
@leekazuo It's Fang's thing, when she's in Commando mode, at least. I swear, the guy had over 9,000,000 hp, still fighting this guy but I'm way underleveled. Looks like I'm gonna revisit the old missions again.
when i saw this guy i thought "crap, its the tonberry scenario all over again..."
Fang: Finally a real challenge.
That's what I was thinking too after getting tired of killing every wild monster in 5-10 seconds.
After beating him using this strategy, the match was a cakewalk.
didn't know that you could check marks that way
Amazing strategy! I did it with Fang, Light and Vanille (she was my sen xDD)
shit, according to the guide this thing has 9,135,000 HP, and so far that's the most HP I can find on any monster
@Psycnosis bosses like this one, if you take to long then they will cast doom,in other words after you fight the first summon (shiva sisters) bosses will cast doom everytime you take to long (not all bosses though, only a few wont cast doom)

this Cie'th is nuts. I wanna know what warrior failed their focus to make such a monstrous Cie'th. but good job on the battle.

You actually can't stagger him. He'll stay at 999% but by the time you get there the battle's as good as over anyway
Beat him in 10 min. (5 stars) with this strategy and i didn't have as high as your stats in the video (pertaining to health), thanks a bunch dude really helped me out.
yes... u can return to gran pulse after finishing the game. i have spent an extra 20 hours doing stuff i hadnt compleated yet.

Best strategy by far. Thanks so much. I’ve tried other videos and didn’t succeed.
how come you dont list or show the paradigms before you start the fight, put them in the description
I did this in Chapter 11. It took me 17 minutes, but I beat him. And what's with him casting Doom? I've never had anyone cast doom on me.
They really out did themselves with thee graphics.... Its so lifelike xD
That's what it is. I spent most of the fight trying to stagger him, and couldn't finish before doom killed me. This is great.
i thought this fight was gonna be a nightmare, but he didnt cast doom, snow had 4 maxed out general belts, and i just beat this fool in 7:51.
thanz for the help man good vid
For those wondering about his exact paradigm setup, order Fang, Light, Snow:
Tri-Disaster [Rav,Rav,Rav]
Offensive Screen [Com,Com,Sen]
Solidarity [Com,Med,Sen]
Smart Bomb [Sab,Rav,Rav]
Dirty Fighting [Sab,Com,Sen]
Strategic Warfare [Syn,Com,Sen]
My characters wasnt as finely tuned but this tactic and setup worked like a charm for me, Fortisol+Aegisol before starting. 13, 12, and 19.000hp on my characters respectively. Instant-chain eq bonus@light didnt kick in on any of my tries. Might not work.
Three questions
1.) What is "Kill: ATB Charge"?
2.) Why did he raise the chain Gauge to 300% even though he had no plans to stagger Attacus?
3.) After he chose to stick with using COMs instead of RAVs, why did he use DeShell? THANK YOU!
@Sarahon06 So I have to finish the game so it can extend to lvl 5!!!???
Thanks man! I follow your strategy, it worked the first time! Not maxed every role yet...
Thank you, this helped me a lot ^^ 5 stars for my battle and 5 stars for you :)
I used Hope, Light, and Snow and got beat 3 times. the first time I staggered it up to 950 but got killed. the second time the dumb ass camera moved atticus off screen, and I didnt see him put the sword in the ground to charge up for a kill shot. Holy crap that thing just whipped out the Titanic! O.o
how did yu get for yur characters to hold 4 items???
Well it gets a little easier when you max those out but it's still pretty difficult since they're magic users and not like lightning with the Physical element attacks, but all in all I had fun fighting him.

I love Fang as commando she’s just an absolute beast
I used your strategy mainly but I upgraded the accessories and maxed out Fang's Dragonhorn weapon to the ultimate for maximum power damage. Thanks
@Laerid ofc! he will make to you otherwise sentence and it is not good xD
hey thank you kindly this worked like a charm. i was growing grey hairs from this battle, lol.
That is a very effective strategy. I took the stagger bar to 400% and killed him before the shrouds wore off.
@guitarheroziplock no he is immune to the death effect sorry anyways good luck beating him i sure did =)
my fang has her crsy damn near maxed out and I am not hitting nearly that hard with depro up, Im not sure what else I need to do
What mission do you need to do to unlock #55?
Wow, I really like the quality of all your videos! Can you tell me how you record this so good like this? I want to record too XD
How can you develop your crystarium to go in level 5?
@Seifer137
Check out the Titan's stats in takapdark's RUclips video "Final Fantasy XIII - Vercingetorix 3:57 (5 Stars)"
Worked like a charm! Thank you!
Yup, this is pretty much the strategy I used, just without the buffs.
@tb34h I don't like ff13 because of the new damage cap, I miss how it was 9999 and all that, everything was better at lv.99, hp:9999/9999, mp:999/999 and 9999damage.
Very, very nice strategy . One question, Is he not susceptible to instant stagger? Aff, 999% stagger it's too much. Thank you for the tip.
who is tht big guy. looks like a titan from god of war
There was one thing I wanted to ask though. I didn't equip any equipment that boosted my ATB charge but when I saw Fang hitting her gauge was charging. Why was that?
It's a Commando ability called Faultsiphon. When ever Fang, as a Commando, attacks an enemy that has a debuff on them (Deprotect, Deshell, Imperil, Slow etc.) it slightly fills up her ATB Gauge with each hit.
oh thanks for the info.
Can someone tell me what variation this battle theme is?
I can't friggin' find it.
@BoredAlways its scary enough having him loom over us like that :P
Awesome video, it helped me so much. I might have been at a disadvantage without a synergist, since I didn't make Fang take that route yet, but with a 500% damage bonus..who needs one? 5/5, much deserved
I GOT DOOMED
Good luck!
0.0 y is it snow takes almost no damage from the hits?
See Your Crystarium.. Once you get on about the 10th stage (Last One) of the Crystarium you'll see Accessory (Orange-Yellowish small crystal, Non-Spiky) It depends On your character on which role its on E.g. Fang> Commando 10th Stage
Once again, I am only on Chapter 11, and I was able to beat Attacus using your wonderful strategy (Even though Fang's HP tops only at 10,000)! Thank you!
how the hell your buffs stays on you all the time ???
Wow... it must have been stun-locked to death at that point. But I can see what you mean now. Though you have only 2 people attacking while one defends/absorbs all the incoming damage, you end up with much more damage over time than what it would take to break/stagger him. Makes sense.
done with your arguement? good, now we can have points relevant to the video
Very nice staighey. You help me alot on this mission.
I don't get why he starts off with Ravagers. Fang and Lightning are doing more damage as Coms than all 3 of them as Ravs and you can't even stagger Attacus.
holy crap, it's nearly impossible to stagger this guy...
