  • A flight attendant and two bank employees in Indiana are accused of helping a Mexico-based drug trafficking organization move thousands of kilograms of cocaine into the U.S. Retired DEA agent Derek Maltz says he is not surprised that American flight attendants are willing to work with the cartels to feed their families.

I love that he snuck in a little argument about how everyone having private, secure communications isn’t worth it if they can’t figure out a way to stop cartels.
“We need to trample your freedom to win an unnecessary, mishandled drug war!”

In the late 90's, my buddy who worked for Immigration in Miami was checking the bathrooms on the secured side of a concourse where international flights arrived and found a locked stall with no one in it. Upon further inspection he found a briefcase locked in the stall which contained cocaine. He said he remembered passing a pilot walking from that area, but he couldn't not say if it was him who left the drugs there. He informed his counterparts in Customs who dealt with the drugs.

Wow, several problems with this reporting. First, though, I'm surprised this "former DEA agent" can't pronounce the word fentanyl. He should have been around it enough to know how to say the word correctly.
This "journalist" asking how safe is it with employees being able to bring things on to airports and airplanes. The airlines alone employ more than 800,000 people in the US. The aviation industry employs more than 87 million people world wide. So, taking these numbers into account, how many of these stories have you heard regarding employees getting caught trafficking? Just like when there is a crash, because it is so unusual, it makes headline news. And of course, the media have to go after ratings.
Lastly, and surprisingly NOT mentioned by this former agent, airline employees do not always have a choice in the matter. These cartels find out all of the information about these employees, where they live, where their kids go to school, in order to blackmail them into helping them. If the employee does not help, they threaten their families.
Thanks for researching the story, NewsNation, way to do your due diligence. But you're getting views, so who cares, right?

Drugs and money I understand but no airline employee is trying to bring explosives on a plane to hurt people. Yes drugs harm and kill way more than a bomb but that’s unseen to the employee.

And our Federal Government went and had a meeting with the President of Mexico and US said they would help the Sinaola Cartel there were too many cartels and help eliminate their competition and help control of how much drugs will get into the country instead of too much from different distributors, let's make it one distributor and you have FEDERAL GOVERNMENT and WHITE HOUSE APPROVAL. Now planes are suddenly dropping out of the sky, can't help if some employees have family in the cartels wanting revenge, or is it just plain old greed and cover up and Chinese Parts are much, much cheaper and then the profits of the drug transporting, it's more and more, and don't forget the paid hits of people WHO could testify all in one stone throw's away.

As we all know, in China, the attitude of most people towards drug problems is simple and rough, that is, "one size fits all", and there is no tolerance or tolerance. In the United States, where drugs are rampant, the mindset is different. Many people think that drug addicts are also "victims." In the eyes of the American people, most people did not have drug addiction before, but came to the big city with dreams, were hit by the ruthless reality, were excluded by the mainstream society, and their dreams were shattered one after another, and they could only struggle in the harsh living environment. In order to escape the trauma caused by homelessness, they chose alcohol and drugs. It was the cruel social environment in the United States that led these people to a road of no return.
