I live in Apple land but I'm happy to see meaningful competition from Microsoft. Eventually we'll have to replace my wife's ASUS VivoBook S15 and I think one of these offerings will be on the short list (especially when more software developers jump on board).
How much of the battery usage is from the chip versus the screen in the average laptop? Is the long battery life mostly due to the energy efficient chip?
It is an ad, but I only make sponsored videos for products I think are really interesting. And while not perfect, snapdragon chips are very good. But I hear your feedback
People in the comment section should chill. Sponsored yes, but the windows industry needs ARM based laptops to succeed. Fun fact: The only portable consumer device that uses x86 rather than ARM is Windows Laptops.
We need them, but we need influencers to be fair and balanced as people watch these and may buy them on the back of this ad. There have been a lot of returns, possibly due to the misleading reviews (sponsorships). At this point, it is hard to find a non-sponsored review of Qualcomm, and the worst is ASUS, which must spend tens of millions on reviews.
You notice that most of these RUclipsrs will not do a non sponsered video on Windows silicon. They pretty much all use Mac Books and will gladly do non sponsered videos on their products. It's unfortunate for people who rely on them to make decisions. Sure, they criticized the IPad Pro, but not until after people were stuck with them. They are influencers, not reviewers, and only provide value to the companys. Note that these same influencers did positive sponsored videos on the Asus S16 yet said only 10 hrs battery life here. These numbers can be easily influenced based on power settings and screen brightness and type of panel. Their only service is lining their pockets.
Sickening. A whole bunch of paid for reviewers showing that they cannot be trusted. Is the only trustworthy reviewer going to end up being Just Josh? Looks that way.
Great review TechChap, i think people need to quit whining, the quality of the video and the fun is there. Why do you keep bashing coz it was sponsored? He stated in the video, and also he has family to feed. And he is doing great works, appreciate or just go away,no need for those negative comment.
X Elite will fail, at least it would be a mainstream product, I mean how can you charge this much for a laptop (u are not apple) it is windows in the end. If they were available on the right price, the price around which you get similar performing windows laptop, Yes they are a bit slow, and have the 1/3 battery life. But they cost half the price. If these xElite laptops were to come out at an reasonable price, they would have been a real game changer.
I nominate a new measurement for influencers, forget NPUs for AI stuff, how abou SPUs for shills per minute? No proper benchmarks, no relative comparisons, vague 'it's got better statements'. I've got a Snapdragon laptop and I love it. I made sure it does what I need before I bought it. Good battery life, plays WoW, runs Affinity Photo (both natively) and of course all the Windows 365 stuff. I've never touched the Co-Pilot button because I just don't care and really you can do all that stuff in a browser if you really want to. If I'd seen this crappy shill-fest before I bought my machine I'd have thought twice about the Snapdragon route. I really think it reflects badly on all involved. This truly is the QVC of Influencer/ creator colabs.
Surface Pro 11 if you need a tablet form factor, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7x if you need a laptop. That Lenovo is a beast. A ThinkPad T14s if you need crazy long battery life. Dells and HPs all have their own QC issues and Asus is a nightmare if you need to RMA. That being said, it's nice to have so much competition in the space.
When a video is sponsored is just not that useful. The youtuber gets paid to say those things, so, the video is useless if there is not any negative thoughts. Snapdragon PC are cool, new, a step forward and all we want, but what about the negative part? Those PC clearly have some fails. Plus, I actually don't think any of you youtubers would use that snapdragon PC. Prove me wrong.
I've got a really nice Dell Inspiron and it's been great. I'm not a gamer so I don't necessarily need graphics speed, but I need graphics quality. But it's really heavy, about like my 2010-era Macbook Pro. So, that battery life and the weight would be advantages for me. My biggest problem right now is that I've "future proofed" my tech so well that I don't need anything new for a couple more years. However, I bought a bunch of Qualcomm stock about eight years ago, so...
Hard pass for this clusterduck of a release... appreciate the sponsored content which is good for the creators but lets be real... these aren't even half baked... they are more like a halfarsed effort from every company involved. heck Apple's products have MUCH BETTER software compatibility than this travesty of a release🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a long time subscriber I find this sponsored video a bit unfortunate. The problem is that any future laptop review videos will now have question marks about their objectivity. Hopefully this is not a future trend for the channel. Probably the first time I’ve given one of Toms videos a thumbs down.
It's so obvious these RUclipsrs sold out on this one. One giant 10 minute commercial. Not a good look if you're goal is to be an impartial, trusted source. Selling out to this degree is corrosive to reputations.
It’s sad to see that even for a sponsored video, the only redeeming quality of the snapdragon chips highlighted by everyone is just “battery life”. Nothing else is worthwhile with this overpriced chips
After buying one, the honest answer should be, if you use everyday apps and programmes, don't game, don't have a lot of external devices like printers, cameras etc, then yes go for it. Battery life is excellent, the screen on my Samsung 4 Edge is stunning, processing speed is top notch and everyday apps run as smooth as butter. If you do want to print, connect a camera or other devices, then DON'T!!! Wait for a few years until driver support is better, if that ever happens. Stick to Intel or AMD powered machines for now.
Will a Snapdragon 7c @ 2.4 ghz with 8 cores and 8 GB of RAM be able to efficiently handle all the software required for an average entry-level work-from-home office job?
This video sponsor was so low grade I had to unsubscribe. Thank you for disclaiming ahead of time, but a video like this doesn’t make me trust ANY recommendations you’ve been making since I subbed. It’s really disappointing.
I really want to pick up the Book 4 Edge but I can't really find anything about how DAWs are impacted. The couple of answers I have seen aren't positive. I'm being pushed towards a mac book but I really don't want to repurchase all my amp sims and plugins. I hope more tech reviewers talk more about audio production and editing. Mostly they talk about video editing and gaming. The x elite seems like a golden opportunity for windows to catch up with Apple in this respect
Did you do any research to see if the apps you use work? These laptops are great for most people and creators mostly but for IT people it's a bit of a hit or miss situation
@@omonighoprogressoghenetejiri hence for testing, lol. I will test all the apps we use as a company before I roll any of these Arm laptops out to employees.
Qualcomm and MS partnered up for an unspecified term, and they are the sole distributors of this chip. So Android and Google have to wait for the deal to expire. With the amount Qualcomm has paid to YT creators, they are betting their lot on its success, but it hasn't been a raging success. Hence, there is round 2 of new sponsored videos...sorry ads.
What are the chances these machines would be capable of running Autocad and inventor. I use those softwares a lot in school and I would honestly love to switch to something lighter and more efficient. Open to any recommendations
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc: Hey guys, can you like… collaborate and convince the masses that our products are great! 👍 Perhaps even more superior than the Intel/AMD peasantry 😅
3:27 the screensize matters a LOT (I just bought a zen5 hx365 Asus S16). The Samsung Galaxy Book4 Edge is known to slow down the snapdragon processor A LOT (10-15%) to achieve 13.5hr battery life. The Zenbook S16 has a similar screen size but 2.5x the 3D processing capability, so yes, it uses more power because it is much more powerful. If you compare the speed of the Samsung Galaxy Book4 and Asus Zenbook S16 running at similar speeds, I think battery life would be pretty close (+ / - 10%). Also, Intel isn't even worth mentioning - they are 4th place in the Laptop industry ... Apple #1, tie: AMD/Qualcomm #2-3, Intel #4.
The fact that Qualcomm has to pay off RUclipsrs in order to market and sell these is sad. Just Josh did a livestream and he pointed it out that Qualcomm is doing this. Where as AMD shows up with Strix Point with very little marketing and paid no one off and let those Zen 5 cores speak for themselves. Yeah how much did he get paid for that title? Please don’t turn into iJustine she’s sold herself to corporate shills and ads and I have a hard time trusting what she says due to that. Many reviewers I think this way about them.
I'm looking for a desktop version using this chip, something like the Mac Mini. Other than the developer dev kit, is anything in the works? Especially something that supports Nvidia GPU, either on-board or external, so high-end gaming would be possible...
The main thing with me is app compatibility. Keep in mind this isn’t Microsoft’s first attempt at ARM Windows with a QCOM processor and the last try bombed. Snapdragon is better, yes, but it’s too soon to jump in if you aren’t flush with cash.
Timing is really so meaningful, just after release of Ryzen 300 series and before release of Lunar Lake. Actually before this "advertisement" I was really considering X Elite but now I am convinced that X Elite is trash compared to Ryzen 300:)
Help me decide please... Asus Zenbook S16 (Rizen) vs Samsung Galaxy book edge (Snapdragon) for an average consumer! RUclips, MS Office and battery life are priority
RUclips and MS Office run fine either way, but battery life is better on Snapdragon. So, given those three as priority, the choice would be simple, although the Galaxy Book isn't exactly leading the pack when it comes to battery life among Copilot+ laptops.
I don't get it how these guys could accept sponsorship from Qualcomm. I am not saying that videos shouldn't be sponsoring but at least make sure it's not in the conflict of interest with what you are reviewing. There are so many negative things that I was concerned with these laptops about compatibility, gpu.... Etc. But now I can't listen to any of these guys because the video sponsored. They don't even mention how they stack up against the new AMD CPU that just came out.
Tom and Ella give the best reviews! As for Justine, she's a bit too fabricated in how she reviews things now. I don't even remember when she last reviewed a non apple smartphone/tablet.
Everything is excellent.... But.. the software supports should expand.... It sucks on software supports..... But with native versions it still gives excellent performance
Dude we need 16 inch (16:10 ratio) OLED with good keyboard. Samsung keyboard is not for typing, too thin. We need lenovo keyboard or Zenbook S16 looking one with 90+ Wh battery.
Do the improvements to ARM compatibility on windows come to previous, lower end ARM chips like the galaxy book go with the 7c gen 2 and 7c+ gen 3? I think midrange is where windows traditionally shines. When I bought the galaxy book go years ago, emulation was non existent. If it's much more compatible with everything now, i could actually use it.

I live in Apple land but I'm happy to see meaningful competition from Microsoft. Eventually we'll have to replace my wife's ASUS VivoBook S15 and I think one of these offerings will be on the short list (especially when more software developers jump on board).
😂 Like your humor and your franchise, I suscribe
I know most tech RUclips videos are essentially commercials but when it's this overt it sours the perception of the rest of your content
How much of the battery usage is from the chip versus the screen in the average laptop? Is the long battery life mostly due to the energy efficient chip?
The A-Team!!!
Thanks Tom, Saf and Justine.
Nice vid.!💪
sorry tom but this felt like a huge ad for qualcomm, doesn't seem genuine at all ..
It is an ad, but I only make sponsored videos for products I think are really interesting. And while not perfect, snapdragon chips are very good. But I hear your feedback
@@Thetechchap thanks for the reply, i do wanna trust this channel like i have for years :)
I use a snapdragon 8c from years ago in a Lenovo laptop, since the new chips came out... Mine has been getting better,
Sponsor : Put an emphasis on the battery life.
RUclipsrs : ok Qualcomm 😅
Sponsor : Don't forget
People in the comment section should chill. Sponsored yes, but the windows industry needs ARM based laptops to succeed. Fun fact: The only portable consumer device that uses x86 rather than ARM is Windows Laptops.
We need them, but we need influencers to be fair and balanced as people watch these and may buy them on the back of this ad. There have been a lot of returns, possibly due to the misleading reviews (sponsorships). At this point, it is hard to find a non-sponsored review of Qualcomm, and the worst is ASUS, which must spend tens of millions on reviews.
Saf and Tom in the same video 😂 The banter levels are off the charts.
I don’t even like the guy

X Elite will fail, at least it would be a mainstream product,
I mean how can you charge this much for a laptop (u are not apple) it is windows in the end.
If they were available on the right price, the price around which you get similar performing windows laptop,
Yes they are a bit slow, and have the 1/3 battery life.
The Tech Chap Do you advise me to take?
iPad air m2
iPad 10th gen
iPad 9th gen

ipad 10 unless you are rich :)
Can use for graphic desiging purpose ? Can run adobe premiere pro ?
Explain which apps are not support ?
16" M3 Pro. This purchase gives me just enough time to wait for X Elite chip to mature to possibly jump ship!
Will a Snapdragon 7c @ 2.4 ghz with 8 cores and 8 GB of RAM be able to efficiently handle all the software required for an average entry-level work-from-home office job?
This looks like paid ad

Nice video😀
I was thinking about buying one of these new laptops, until the "invasion" of videos sponsored by Qualcomm
Woww very cool video 👍 watching on my s24 ultra
Which one would you recommend between the surface laptop 7 and the galaxy book 4 edge ?
This video sponsor was so low grade I had to unsubscribe. Thank you for disclaiming ahead of time, but a video like this doesn’t make me trust ANY recommendations you’ve been making since I subbed. It’s really disappointing.
Don't forget about amd strix halo and Intel lunar lake
Yep excited to test lunar lake
Wow embarrassing. Pushing a beta product for money.
From all these reviews, I am really hyped about these laptops. If only I can afford them.😢
Just ordered the Samsung 14" for testing. I work in IT
Did you do any research to see if the apps you use work? These laptops are great for most people and creators mostly but for IT people it's a bit of a hit or miss situation
@@omonighoprogressoghenetejiri hence for testing, lol. I will test all the apps we use as a company before I roll any of these Arm laptops out to employees.
How was Windows support on ARM? Wondering if more and more apps supports it?
Not yet
Definitely will upgrade
Only if they didn't ignore the GPU completely.
No one cares about NPU.
Sponsored vid 🙄🙄
Almost all videos on youtube are, kid. You're watching a fake world. Back in the day we called it TV... I do agree though.
Please, please, please, make this video again in a few weeks… I’d love to get your opinion about these laptops
i dont know if anyones already said this but... what if... snapdragon x elite chromebook?
Qualcomm and MS partnered up for an unspecified term, and they are the sole distributors of this chip. So Android and Google have to wait for the deal to expire. With the amount Qualcomm has paid to YT creators, they are betting their lot on its success, but it hasn't been a raging success. Hence, there is round 2 of new sponsored videos...sorry ads.
@@andyH_England fsir enough. still cant wait for fsdt chromebooks that arent intel
@@TheOneDanTek I agree 💯
You guys over emphasize all this tech with all the power, but in real life 90 percent people just need a laptop
What are the chances these machines would be capable of running Autocad and inventor. I use those softwares a lot in school and I would honestly love to switch to something lighter and more efficient. Open to any recommendations
Its a commercial but.. we already knew everything good about these laptops.
Were you sponsored NOT to mention the fact ai features on device are shit and software compatibility issues are real.
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc: Hey guys, can you like… collaborate and convince the masses that our products are great! 👍 Perhaps even more superior than the Intel/AMD peasantry 😅
So....I just installed a app on Intel 13th gen didn't hear the fans ramp up? Are they like copying a script from Sponsor?
No, better buy AMD.
yep
The fact that Qualcomm has to pay off RUclipsrs in order to market and sell these is sad. Just Josh did a livestream and he pointed it out that Qualcomm is doing this. Where as AMD shows up with Strix Point with very little marketing and paid no one off and let those Zen 5 cores speak for themselves. You get comparable battery life and sleep time, better single and multi core performance, much better gaming performance thanks to the 890m, and most importantly...perfect app compatibility since its x86.
Snapdragon X Elite ❤️❤️❤️✅
using on a Apple monitor?or samsung 2024 gaming monitors?
2 min silence for those who thinks ARM gonna replace X86 😂😂
3:23 nice to see the more wattage the less battery inside 😂
Team tech chap & Ella ✊
Help me decide please... Asus Zenbook S16 (Rizen) vs Samsung Galaxy book edge (Snapdragon) for an average consumer!
RUclips, MS Office and battery life are priority
RUclips and MS Office run fine either way, but battery life is better on Snapdragon. So, given those three as priority, the choice would be simple, although the Galaxy Book isn't exactly leading the pack when it comes to battery life among Copilot+ laptops.
Thank you! @@Noodles.FreeUkraine
This is just an ad. 👎
I have something 4 u
I didn't trust reviewers anymore
Tom and Ella give the best reviews! As for Justine, she's a bit too fabricated in how she reviews things now. I don't even remember when she last reviewed a non apple smartphone/tablet.
this is the second wave of making hype for xelite laptops
when was the first wave?
Powerbanks : "are we a joke to you" 😆😆
Everything is excellent.... But.. the software supports should expand.... It sucks on software supports..... But with native versions it still gives excellent performance
Gonna be interesting to see native games on windows ARM.
What a detailed and comprehensive review. We look forward to see more.
Where? 🤔
Fact Fund Sheet
Dude we need 16 inch (16:10 ratio) OLED with good keyboard. Samsung keyboard is not for typing, too thin. We need lenovo keyboard or Zenbook S16 looking one with 90+ Wh battery.
Can I have the cheapest one?For school/study purpose only. 😂😂😂😂
No you shouldn't if you want to have no incompatibilities with your software! In other words, verify if everything works what you need before buying!
