I have both that exact Jazzmaster and an Esquire with an overwound pickup both with Flatwounds and I must say the Esquire definitely has a sharper 'thwack' when palm muted, but the Jazzmaster is definitely great for solos and instrumental tones. Could you try Don't Make Me Go or Time and Time Again? Loved the vid and can't wait for part two.
Love listening to your playing, have you ever tried or been able to capture Bob Woottons "Bounce" style on a song like "Man in Black". I had the opportunity to see Wootton on stage and he played very much like Luther while he was playing and singing as the Tennessee Three after Cash past. After the show I had a chance to speak with him and ask him about his playing and he did admit he did play a little simpler because he was trying to remember the words. Wootton took Luther's style a lot farther as the yeas went by.
I like both instruments, however I especially like the Esquire! Have any of the capacitors been altered in any way one the instruments? Flat wounds on both? Thank you!
Hi AR they both sound great maybe the jazzmaster sounds fuller but the esquire will always be the Luther Perkins guitar thank you for the comparisons l enjoy your style

I have a Squire Super Sonic, which is basically a Jag flipped upside down. Like a leftie, but for righties. It'll have to do!
The Jazzmaster looks and sounds good, but the Esquire is brighter and just reminds me more of Luther's style.
To my ears, the Esquire is a bit more scooped in the mids. But both guitars sound great.

You said in a previous video you have seen Luther’s sunburst Esquire. Did they repair it after the flood damage??
