Duct tape holds the repair together from the other side( it's okay to leave it inside the tube. I'd be putting an inside and outside patch on those areas. Doc (30+ pro years exp) Should use a larger brush with sweeping not dabbing motion. 2-3 coats(thin) of glue.
Is this glue waterproof
When you use 2 part marine glue it says to coat both surfaces and let dry for 20 minutes. Then apply another coat and let dry for five minutes, then apply your patch.. It instantly forms a very strong tacky bond. I tried the pvc pipe glue instead, and I didn't get the sticky bond. It did eventually dry, but after putting on the patch I had to put heavy weights on the patch for 24 hours while it dried. There are so many different kinds of pipe glue, fast set , slow set , medium..wonder which kind works best?
When lining up edges I've had good luck with putting some duct tape inside to hold things together for the glue up. Don't know if it's right for that awkward nose section you did, but it's worked for stuff I've glued when I didn't have extra hands to hold things. Good how to video. Have a great day.
Awesome job! Thanks for the advice re PVC glue, will save us all a tonne of money. I'm not an expert, but I'd probably also put a patch on the inside for extra strength. You could put baking paper over the top of the inside patch, so it doesn't stick to the inside of the tube on the other side when drying. This is a trick people use when re-gluing valves on kitesurfing kites. The baking paper then of course, lives inside the boat forever which is not an issue.
Just used the same exact method as you and it will not adhere, ugh 😔
I’m from the west of Ireland - I wouldn’t be seen dead in Dublin after resent riot

Did it hold up?
Dodgy repairs out in the elements of nature 😂 An internal patch with external patches will be a lot stronger and will Gaurentee no air leaks!!

Very practical ideas , thanks
Beautiful- this will help me with my Apex, not a tear just a bunch of teeny leaks along its perimeter trim. Sad and hard part- someone way back when decides to paint it.
I got to give it to you,the patience you have to repair this dinghy is unbelieveble!
Thanks so much.
Great job!
Excellent video
Thank you for the great idea. Will it work in joining floor to tube? Floor is harder and tube is softer. Both are PVC.
