My family is from Money. Our family house, church and family cemetery is there. I remember traveling that road many times to visit. My family knew the Bryant's and Emmitt till family too. Thank you for sharing
I’m a NYer born and raised but my people on both sides are from Rural NC and rural Ms. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to respect my family and not be ashamed. Most of them still live there since the late 1600s. It took some brave souls to stay and take all of the abuse we through. Plus we have just as many racist in NY as you have in the South. They have had tried to have a few klan rally’s here. Not to mention homes burned down by 💭s and many people unalived by them based soulely on race. I’m not talking about 60s but in the 80s to present.
Money Mississippi and Minter City Mississippi both are in the County of Leflore. Greenwood, Mississippi is in the County of Leflore as well. In the State of Mississippi there are 82 counties. There use to be a Money Elementary School. The community was agricultural. When they vote it Leflore County & Law enforcement is the Leflore County Sheriff so now you know; same for Minter City as well as many small cities such as Browning, Ms. Now referred to as Old Browning. It is not off grid & have access to water, electricity etc. Town under Leflore County government. Yes they vote 😊
These parts of the Mississippi delta are some of the poorest and most isolated part of the state. I recently found this channel and subscribed because the creator does a fantastic job of narrating all these place in MIssissippi. I find these videos so valuable because as someone who is a remote worker, i am looking to move to Mississippi for the super cheap cost of living. These videos with narration allow me to see a decent amount of each town without having to drive all over the state at my own expense. The Delta region is my favorite because it's the most affordable and offers someone a chance to live without the struggles of debt in most other parts of the country. I think it would make the channel have greater interaction and higher growth rate if she would respond to some of the comments. I honestly feel like i'm the vehicle with her as she drives around. Awesome job!
As a Mississippian, I don’t think I’d live in the Delta - and I’m not saying that because it’s extremely isolated. I don’t want to overgeneralize, but I hear “outsiders” to some small towns in the Delta are subject to robbery more than most. After undergrad, I entered a teaching program that placed graduates in critical shortage areas. Some of my classmates were placed in the Delta and they got robbed a few times. I’ve heard the same thing about other participants over time. That can happen anywhere, I know, but stories have led me to believe that burglary there may be next-level. This isn’t to discourage you, of course. Mississippi is just like every other place in the States because people don’t change - only their accents do. lol HOWEVER, I don’t think you’ll find kinder people (overall) than what you’ll find here. This may contradict what I just said, but compared to most other places, I think you’re pretty safe here. I think no matter where you’re from, Mississippi tends to feel like “home” to most (no matter how different the state is from their state of origin). You should also look into places like Olive Branch, Southaven, Madison, Brandon, Flowood, Ridgeland (definitely here. It’s in a more metropolitan area, is safer than Jackson, the capital, and has housing way more affordable than all the other places I’ve listed. I’d live there if it wasn’t an hour from my job), Gulfport, Biloxi, and Hattiesburg to name a few.
You went from in these streets to in these fields. Ain't nothing going on but farming out there. Watch out for the children of the corn. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for research, and exposure of this town. I felt an evil presence as you drove through. I don’t know if it’s a sundown town, but be careful since we ‘re being awakened to who we really are. … Shalom. 🙏🏽
I believe strongly in rebuilding that store to exactly how it looked . & turning it into a historic building. With federal funding & protection. No history should be ignored no matter how bad or good . Period . History is important
It’s pretty black that way. I actually googled Money to see where it is… 😂 Lawd it’s 30 minutes from my ass. I drive 45 minutes to work and i guess the turn is at the stop sign 10 miles into my drive. Wow! I’m still not going though
Nothing to be scared of honestly. Some of the nicest people live in those parts of the Delta in Mississippi and it's only the outside media that trains us to think that it's all bad. That's why these videos are so valuable. It allows you to see the TRUTH and witness it yourself instead of taking someone else's opinion.
Very interesting that your video was in my recommended section. My mother was born in Minter city in 1952, and last year while driving to Jackson MS, I stopped by and drove through Minter city.
@DrJLorraine Thats a small town im pretty sure everyone knew each other. my grandmother was born in Money Mississippi in 1932, not sure when she moved to Minter City
Good video. I would never live , or drive through Mississippi. That is the most scary place to live. Sundowns town. I have never heard anything good about that state. 🥴
Baby, we have a damn good time here. And we enjoy each others company. I’m 30 minutes from there…. It looks nothing like this… we call this the country… and I’ll stay where I’m at.
Hello Lee , I am still here. I missed a few. Been putting the work in . I didn’t know she passed. Never did a day in jail. It might be lonely, but peaceful. I enjoy my peace.💯You know the feeling, it’s not that serious, turn around.🤣🤣🤣I enjoyed and Becareful. 🤞🙏🏾❤️
You have your facts all wrong. That is not a replica of Bryants Grocery. that is the renovated gas station that was always there. The actual grocery store is in shambles and is next door. The person that wanted to sell the property was the foreman of the jury that let the Bryans off the hook. He brought the property to prevent the state from making a memorial to Emmitt Till.

These small towns Money, Ms. and Minter City are in Leflore County. You are in a farming area. Funny you could end up in another County on those back roads & the GPS doesn't forgive. The community is friendly. Everyone in Greenwood, Mississippi know that town folks bc it is in Leflore County aa well as Itta Bena, Mississippi etc. Ruleville, Mississippi is in Sunflower County so is Indianola, Mississippi. Ther are many small town referred to as cities within certain Counties. If you live in the corporate district you a mayor council government & if you live in the County you have a Supervisor Alderman government. People who live in the County are basically farmers. They have access to water & electricity. If they want to be off grid they can be with solor panels, private water sources or personal wells, septic tanks or op in to be connected to City county sewage, gas lines. Satellite, Cable, telephone land line, internet services also.
Mississippi is a very rural state outside of jackson. The state has a few other cities and smaller towns but for the most part its very rural. Here in Georgia its way more towns outside of the bigger cities within the state. You will past a bunch of towns just driving thru the state. And Georgia has the most towns then anyother state except Texas.
Interesting, never knew about that part of Minter City. Always thought it was the area along Hwy 49 at the end of the video that shows the post office, restaurant, mechanic shop, Melvin's Place, and Sanders gas station.
I've seen lots of rural 2 lane roads and communities like this not to far from Chicago, farms and dirt roads. Illinois is 1 of the top farming states for corn 🌽 and soybean. Donkeys horses 🐎 sheep 🐑 goats 🐐 etc. Felt a little uncomfortable in them river towns. My job as a truck 🚚 driver allowed me to 👀 this.
Service Station is approximately 2 miles in Greenwood Mississippi in which both are in Leflore County. This is a small farming town just say in the rural county seat. Greenwood consider micro-urban & Minter City & Money rural but in same County.
Great video those places could make the perfect home for the right person with an income already once you got high speed internet and a little Honda or Toyota to make it out to that Walmart and not spend a million in gas you can enjoy the views the solitude and the friendly atmosphere once you fit into the town but people don't look at things that way sometimes but I'm glad you're exposing this beauty and opportunity for those that can see the potential
Who is the “right person “ you are referring to?!! You definitely aren’t talking about POC. No one wants to live in a broke down whyte sundown town in good “Ole Mississippi “ with dirt roads, no jobs or major department stores/restaurants. That town didn’t evolve since 1956! 😅😂
