When you walk past a group of people, all standing in a circle, texting and not talking to each other, then it is obvious that social media is a detriment to real life communication
@@klif4755i feel i do. i preferred it when social media wasnt about. People were nicer, so was society for a matter of fact. I guess it's all down to matter of opinion.
I agree that nowadays after we have those social media, our life has been changed people started to be fake and tried to be perfect on media platform. As we can see many people cares about the quantity of likes and comments and the picture of themself while ignoring their reality.
9:06 Amy Orbin is totally right on this one. I mean, before we were labeling design, decorating, and press jobs as social-media positions: those jobs were still around, just labeled and shared differently. People were still going to events, restaurants, and not telling everyone that they had a bad day. If anything: Social media is fueling a great return to community involvement: since we're able to communicate about events, restaurants, shops and ideas in more concise and curated ways. It's creating a new 'high street' as the physical streets are over-taken by generic multinational junk-stores.
I have deleted my fbs and Ig for an year as well. Yet I am now reconsidering opening up a new ac. The reason why I do this is that there are so many people outside who are so eager to get updated all the time that, once you are offline, you can't really share a common topic with them. Even WhatsApp is a must now as I guess no one is really willing to talk to you on phones or just hang out to have a really chat. What do you guys think?
It is a double edge blade. There is something that will impede your advancement as I told my own subscribers. Addiction to social media. Now social media can be a good thing for advertising your business, YT channel or the like. But having your entire existence based on it is not. First there is the unhealthy aspect of comparing yourself to other profiles which usually aren't nearly as stellar in real life as they are on the front page. Then there is the aspect where your validation is being sought from people you rarely talk to in real life--if ever. Not to mention the constant quest of follows and likes also drops minute amounts of dopamine in your system literally physically making you addicted to social media. Which leads to later anxiety increase and depression. But also--if you are spending all your time on your iPhone then you aren't advancing yourself. Think about how much more you could learn about stock trading if you cut social media 90% down? That's my end point. It should be a very small part of your life not the center of it. Hope that helps someone out there---Charles

Mike Robisnson The fact that the right now you on the left criticised shows that Newsnight are doing something correct in reporting
"Weird kind of normal human interaction". Social media is social poison. Hands down.

Its brought the act of dismissing someone/thing to the fore. Which is used in terrible ways.
Nope, just amplifying what's already there.
