The absolute best embarkation we have ever had was at Civitavecchia! Uber'ed from the heart of Rome right to the ship terminal, no lines and on the ship in about 5 minutes. Great job Norwegian!
i live in Civitavecchia. some tips, if you have time take a walk outside the port (forte michelangelo side) on the promenade (viale della vittoria and lungomare thaon de ravel) you can find shops and a number of good restaurants. early in the morning, mon to sat, go and visit the fish market (5 min walk from the port), if you have more time check out for a visit to terme di trainano (10 min drive from the port). some suggestion for dinner: if you want pizza try pizzeria del ghetto, if you prefer fish try ristorante caprasecca. if you like ice cream go to chalet del pincio or millennium.
Good job and anything was so useful and correct about my hometown, keep going!!! Civitavecchia port was built in 106-108 under Trajan the name itself stands for Ancient town (for those who speak Spanish, it's similar to ciudad vieja, as Spanish ans Italian share the same Latin roots)
If you want to buy italian wines go local: I mean you can buy Chianti when in Livorno, in Civitavecchia go for Romanella, Cerveteri, Est Est Est, Sambuca Manzi or Molinari, Passerina, my fave is Cesanese. Cheers mate!

Thanks for the video Ken! Do you recall approx how much the bottles of wine you chose were? Will be looking for a good priced vendor to pick up a couple bottles ourselves before we board an upcoming cruise 🙌🏼
Both were about 9 euros or so. They were not a lot of choices left (maybe other cruisers have picked them up too?), and we selected the most expensive ones (yes, at 9 euros each only!), and they were both rather fine. They actually tasted better than the ones we paid onboard when we finished our bottle!
Does the red bus take you directly to your ship? Great video but still a bit confused. We are older and trying to do this the easy way. I don't mind a bus or taxi but would like to go all the way to the ship. Heavy luggage is difficult for us.
When and how did you see (figure out) that a train going to Pisa would get you to Civitavecchia faster (I assume you mean faster that a train that only went as far as Civitavecchia)? Are there route maps posted around the station?
Check out the Civitavecchia port website: civitavecchia.portmobility.it/en/port-civitavecchia-guide-cruise-passengers - I suspect if there are cruise ships there, then they will run? But if not, I am sure there would be paid services.
When you buy the tickets at the machine, it will show you which trains are going there - the ticket allows you to go on any of them - but if you check, then you can see which train number is the next one that goes to Civitavecchia.

Thank you for your suggestions! I shall try it next time.
We will have time in Civitavecchia in the morning, but what to do with our luggage? We will be going to Rome the same day.
@@michaels3003 check at the railway station if there is a luggage storage
Great tip! We are cruising also...and chose to stay in Civitavecchia for 2 nights before our cruise to explore this port town and eat/shop locally.

I researched beforehand so I knew which trains would go where and how long it would take. Thanks for watching!
do not forget to validate train tickets (at the dedicated terminal) before embarking.
Good advice. Thanks for watching.
