And if the seller starts to get nervous or annoyed while you are doing this that's a red flag. Just don't be the guy who wastes 10 minutes checking a sub finding out its good then backing out.

I remember back in the day a guy in my town had a nissan hard body slammed and it was walled off with 8 of these cerwin vegas 12s on 2 mmats 2ks..this was late 90s early 2000s..so back then this was banging..it sounded good..but nothing compared to todays setups.
They definitely can handle the power the only down fall there is the foam sround rots out over time as most with foam but it's a easy fix very common in sv speaker. If bass is week need a refoam.
I had 2 of the 15s in an extended cab Ranger doing 158 on the dash back in 2000. Still have one 15 and two 8s sitting in their shipping boxes in the basement.
@@johnbobbitt6470 Yeah, had to remove the seats to fit the boxes that filled the extended cab and then the seats still had to be forward a bit. They were 4.5 cubic feet each. It was the loudest system around and tuned to 20hz. Bassmechanik 5.0 would slam. Still have the truck, pre-ordered a pair of EMF Ban Hammers for it. Plan to rebuild the truck with my kids as I have them hooked on the bass as we have subs in everything. LOL

Gotcha beat. I have this inner magnet in my SOUL for Vegas. Inside 6 months I got the following: Pair of ash black VS-150’s off LetGo for $30 Pair of ash black RE-38’s from Goodwill on discount, THEN half off at the register for total of $15 Pair of walnut HED u-321’s off the side of the road on trash day Along with my all Yamaha component setup, and (3) 300x2 QSC power amps (all free that I repaired for a total of maybe $30 and my time) I can literally knock pictures off the walls in my neighbors house across the street. I bought a DD 612 that read dual 4 ohms but when it played it sounded like there was a screw loose. Had it reconed and the installer said it's a bad speaker. He checked it by connecting one lead from a meter on one terminal on one coil and the other to a terminal on the other coil. Was that the proper way of testing it?
Without more info I'm not sure. It comes down to how the installer actually tested it. If he wired it in series and tested both coils at once what you described could be accurate. But typically you would test each coil and each speaker separately.
@@AntonJMiller he tested one at a time but he never connected the terminals on the same side of the sub. I tested both terminals and read 2 ohms on each separate coil. I also get continuity on each coil. Thanks for replying 👍
yea something dont sound proper there for what they did. most likely if it plays its just scratchy then there could be some debris in the coil gap, you push in as far as you can and push up as far as you can it might release it. otherwise if its still making a noise then try shaking the motor up and down and side to side to see if you here any clunking, you could have a loose shorting ring, or if it still does it after that take the dust cap off you may have a loose former cap or loose pole or pole topper.
What would be the reason my dvc sub reads crazy ohm load at the terminal, but reads fine at the leads connected to the terminals? This is only the case on one side of the sub.

lol that's funny I saw your videos when I was in high school 13 years ago and I'm back here lol
That's extremely helpful for the budget minded. Well done.

Those Vega series Vegas were the sht back in the day and hit low. Used to have 4 in my Cavalier in the late 90's on 4 Kenwood mono amps.

I just got (gift) two (used) 12" Sony Xplod, and I don't have an actual system to hook them up, so I don't know if they work or not.

So what is the Ohm supposed to read if you’re in the perfect conditions to test ?
Depends on the woofer. Some are 1, some are 2, 4, 8 , etc

@@AntonJMiller I hope not it's a new recone from DD. I'll try to just hook it up to an amp. Can a bad speaker damage and amp?
@@whuzup3 most modern amps have protection circuits in them to not damage it. But it can happen yes.

Poor solder on the tabs could cause this.

Do you know how to test a subwoofers rms?
You would need to set up a sort of bench to essentially attempt to kill it. Look of some woofer tests by sundown unofficial
Will do. Thank you.
